Sam Holland x gender neutral reader
warnings: None! just some major fluff and a bit of angst at the beginning.
You knew the Hollands all your life, living just down the road from the family. You met Sam and Harry in school and quickly became friends with the twin boys. Your group quickly became one of the best know trios around the town, constantly together making a mess and having fun. As the three of you grew up together you quickly started to fall for the boy you nicknamed Sammy, he always seemed so affectionate towards you. Always offering you his jacket or hoodie, holding your hand when it was dark or cold, ready to fight to protect you from shitty guys. As your feelings grew you decided to push them down, choosing to hang out with Harry more in hoped that if you ignored Sam your feelings would go away.
Little did you know Sam felt the same way, and seeing you with Harry constantly, it broke his heart. He slowly grew to resent his brother for taking you away. Seeing the two of you laugh together, seeing you sit close on the lounge, practically cuddling, it killed him.
It was a rainy Saturday when Sam walked down the stairs to see you and Harry together on the lounge, watching a movie. Harry gestured his brother over, moving away from you to create a space between you. Harry smirked at your glare as Sam sat down next to you, your cheeks heating up when his leg brushed against yours. The three of you watched the movie in silence before Harry excused himself to the bathroom, a knowing smirk appearing on his face when you silently protested. Sam’s body moved so quickly to face you that you jumped a little, laughing slightly at his actions.
“What go you so energetic?” you joked with the boy, willing your racing heart to calm down. The idea of Sam and you alone making your insides twist.
A frown made its way onto Sam’s face, his eyebrows creasing in worry. He shut his eyes tightly before taking in a shaky breath. “Why Harry?” He asked, his voice breaking slightly as he strained to get the question out.
You moved closer to Sam in confusion and worry, your chest tightening at the sight of his destress. “What do you mean ‘Why Harry’?” you questioned ignorantly, your head tilting slightly to the side.
Sam let out a bitter chuckle at your question, moving his hand to rub down his face in frustration. “I’ve liked you since we were kids y/n. You drive me absolutely insane, your hair and your eyes and fucking hell your smile. But no matter how hard I try to show you my feelings, you push me away. You cling to Harry like he’s your fucking saving grace. Why? Why Harry of all people? Why did you have to break my hear-“
You stopped Sam’s sorrow filed rambling by placing a delicate hand on his cheek, moving closer to connect your lips with his. He remained still in shock, before wrapping his hands around your waist and pulling you into his lap, kissing you back with so much fire and tension. Years’ worth of built-up emotions between the two of you were poured into a single kiss.
As you pull away from Sam you rest your forehead against his, looking deep into his eyes. They swirled with so many emotions; confusion, attractions, love and lust. “I never liked Harry.” You began, “It was always you Sammy, since I was a little girl. I always felt different around you. My tummy would churn and my face would heat up. I can always feel my heart racing when you’re in the room. But I never thought you would like me back, so I pushed you away. I’m sorry Sammy, I never meant to hurt you.”
You paused for a second, taking a shaky breath as tears filled your eyes. Sam’s hands tightening around your waste as he gulped before looking away. You placed both hands of his cheeks, pulling him to look at you. “Sammy, I want to be yours, please if you would have me, make me your girl.”
Sam chuckled slight as a tear fell down his face, “I’ve wanted you to be mine since the day we met,” he confessed.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence holding each other close before a voice spoke from the hallway.
“About fucking time, you two got your acts together.”
