Melissa Caravello died the 8th of May 1892 on the oak steps of her father's church, a chill hand grabbing her dark and dishevelled hair to keep her from leaning away from the fangs and another one gladly squeezing her thigh.
Noshiko has travelled many continents and met countless individuals during the last century but no one caught her attention quite like the young woman who burst out of a small church, dragging a man with her before kicking him to the ground. She watches, amused, as the young beauty screams at the man, telling him that if he ever steps foot into the church, she'll personally introduce him to the devil. Yes, maybe Noshiko will stay in New Orleans a bit longer than planned.
The adopted daughter of a preacher, Melissa had never dreamed much for herself besides maybe... maybe having a family. Growing up, she'd spend hours and days simply picturing the lil rosy cheeks of her baby or the laughter of her child running by her. Weirdly enough, she can never fully picture a husband in this idyllic future. Now that she's felt the touch of Noshiko on her bare skin, she knows why. Still, after yet another huge fight between her and Noshiko, Melissa ends up asking for the only thing her vampire nature cannot give her: a child. Enters Kira, a young orphan girl on her death bed that Melissa pleaded for Noshiko to save. And their lives have never been the same since the addition of their darling and demanding daughter.
Kira knows they're lying to her... Both of them! They've been lying to her for as long as she can remember, saying that it's normal for her to still be this small, to never change despite the years going by. And why can she only eat that red liquid they give her? Why can't she play with other children and why must they always sleep during the day? That gaping silence, she had expected it from Noshiko, but the pain Mama Mel's deflection' causes might just be her last straw before she snaps.

I genuinely wonder if people realize how many projects get abandoned because the readership "wasn't there", when in reality, the readership just stayed silent. It's a big thing in trad pub that book series get discontinued because readers pirate the books or wait until the series is finished to buy a copy, leading the publisher to think that nobody actually wants the book enough to continue the series, but it happens with indie creators too.
I've discontinued a lot of free, online series because it's not worth putting 3-5 hours a week into posting a project for no readers. Sometimes I finish the series for me but just never post it again, other times I don't finish it at all because it feels more worthwhile to put my time into other things. Sometimes I hear from readers who are sad or upset that I didn't finish something they were liking, but the *reason* it never got finished is because I didn't know anyone liked it. If you like something, tell the creator, tell your friends, make some noise about it. If you would be sad if a story never finished, make that interest known because one of my biggest considerations before discontinuing a series is "will people miss this? Will I be letting people down" and 9/10 times, I come to the conclusion of "no, it doesn't even seem like anyone's reading this" only to learn after I've moved on that apparently someone was.
I've said this before in a different way, and this post said it so well. With real examples.
If you like something, tell people.
If you want more content from an artist or author, if you like their stuff, tell them. It will give them creative fuel to keep going. And often it gives them other resources as well.
Recommend a work to other people. Leave a comment or a review. It doesn't have to be long, just genuine, a sentence or two.
Not many people know that a book's success is judged by book reviews as well as sales. Review the book on Amazon or another site to help it pass the metric of success and be recognized by publishers and retailers.
And for the love of heaven, use the like button on all sites which have it for its intended purpose, which is to indicate (mainly to the maker of the thing) that you liked the thing they made
Do Not use the like feature to bookmark things or make lists to look back on. There are other means of doing that. Like things that you like for the love of decency. Give people that little thumbs up. Acknowledge that they filled your time with something worthy.

Gwen is happiest when she can feel the sunshine on her face. More often than not, she is out and about, taking pictures of anything she sees a glimmer of beauty in. Sometimes she takes jobs photographing a local wedding or the drinks for a new menu at the JuiceNet café, but she enjoys roaming around to find subjects herself the most of all.
Beauty takes a completely new meaning after Gwen’s legs turn into a tail. That fated night on Mako has granted her a new opportunity to glimpse an entirely new world. She can’t take her camera below the depths, but that’s her only regret as goes on long swims to explore new species of fish and coral. She could roam around for days, if she let time slip through her fingers like the water does.
TRACY STEWART
Tracy has always felt drawn to the water. It tugs at her soul every time she is near. Perhaps it’s a result of being born near the ocean, or perhaps it’s something more. What she knows for sure is that the ocean and its crashing waves are her only true friend.
The dark depths only get more appealing after Tracy finds her body changed. She dives deep below the surface, often late at night, roaming through submerged caves and collecting all kinds of trinkets that have long called the oceanfloor their home. She revels in the pressure the deeper she goes and doesn’t come up for air until hours have passed.
Bone Witch Hayden and her reanimated best friend/guard dog Theo
Hayden never meant to raise her best friend from the dead. She hadn't even known she was capable of such magic, but she got a close up introduction to it once Theo rose up out of his coffin during his own funeral, not dead but not quite alive either: her first familiar. Afterwards, she quickly realizes that she and Theo now have even more of a bond, including a telepathic connection and a deeply-rooted devotion to each other. All that really mattered was that her friend was back, one way or the other.
Soon, people in high places take notice of her power and her name quickly spreads across the land like wildfire. She's then whisked away to a far-away city to be trained by others like her so that she doesn't fall victim to the lure of the darkness. She learns how to heal others, how to cast magical spells, and how to fight the demonic beasts roaming the countryside.
Along the way the two of them meet some interesting characters, including Liam, the prince of the kingdom who captures Theo's attention, and his devoted general Tracy, who gets under Hayden's skin in a way she quickly becomes addicted to.
Throughout her adventures and training, Hayden realizes that the darkness she holds inside of her won't be so easy to overcome. Will she master it, or will it master her?
