unless you want to teach small kids about a laundry list of sex acts, they're not going to even recognise many acts of CSA as sexual in nature. instead, we need to have children who are raised with an expectation of bodily autonomy and who feel comfortable complaining when they're made or asked to do things they don't feel comfortable with. we need children to have the expectation that those complaints will be taken seriously and that they'll receive backup to make sure situations like that don't continue. if their desires for bodily autonomy are consistently ignored, how can we expect them to speak out when something confusing and uncomfortable happens with their parent, cousin, or babysitter? we've already taught them that what they feel comfortable with doesn't matter

so like. okay so like you have this online ecosystem where everyone's all fractured and algorithmically siloed into their little groups, right?? and the only contact they have with outsiders is through screenshots, meaning you're only ever seeing the stuff that's objectionable or funny enough to be screenshotted in the first place. and the people who rise to the rank of screenshot curator are the people who spend all day sniffing around the other camps for stuff to screenshot. so you have this epistemological chokepoint dictated by someone whose main hobby is sneaking around with a camera getting all up in someone else's business and making it into a public spectacle. and the easiest way to make it into a public spectacle is to make your audience scared and angry. and the easiest way to do that is to play on existing negative biases, like pushing an open door yknow?? so you have this dynamic that rewards prejudice and elevates it to a position of narrative authority. and the people who can do this the most effectively and consistently are the ones who have no qualms about stalking marginalised people and crafting narratives about how they're scary and evil. and you reeeaaally gotta question whether or not any of this is actually beneficial to anyone or if it's just doing to you what fox news did to your dad, yknow??

i'm trying to write a piece (video essay?) where i rank all the star wars movies in depth but from the viewpoint that star wars is and always has been fun trashy pop shit that doesn't demand any more serious critical attention than like something like glee and that this is a liberating thing to admit about any media property because it allows you to love your inner child in a way that is equally respectful of all parties involved, and the climactic joke will be ranking season one of glee as the second best star wars movie. however i am uninspired to write well, the right words just aren't coming in the right order, and i desperately need to get and maintain some semblance of a Life for at least a month or two before i can confidently and responsibly be telling anyone how to think about even the smallest of things i think. so i'm gonna get ready for bed.
