“Welcome back to the DOX News broadcast! My name is Vivian Rusty, and as you can see on the footage behind me, we’ve been witness to a tremendous, terrifying confrontation that has worldwide experts asking, ‘Legends beyond legendaries, is there anything we can do?’”
“Many believe the worst is yet to come, but if you ask me, folks, I think if we were going to be destroyed by aliens then it would have already happened. But, don’t take my word for it! Here at DOX News, we pride ourselves on our worldwide connections. We’re about to hit the ground to see what you the people think, but before that, we’ve just received a leaked communication report from a trusted source, allegedly from some sort of military power keeping a close eye on the situation. Charlie, go ahead and put it on screen for me.”
[MEMO] Deoxys Alternates
All Shepherds, be advised that two Alternative Deoxys’ have appeared within our reality.
Yes, you are reading that right. Two.
Originally, there was only one Alternative dubbed as [Interloper] while we were gathering data on him. This memo has since been updated to inform you of a second one-- an Alternative with similar features that has appeared and battled with the first. For the interest of time, we have designated the Alternatives as [Catalyst] and [Anvil].
In terms of psychic prowess and physical capabilities, these entities have shown to break every single known rule of our known universe. The only comparable match-up we have is the Mewtwo residing in Kanto in terms of raw psychic strength. Allegiances and affinities are unclear, but words such as "planet killer" were used during the confrontation. The outcome of the altercation is currently unknown, but assume that both are still at large.
The previous memo to disengage with any other anomalous activity still stands. You are to find a way to immediately flee if faced with either [Catalyst] or [Anvil]. It's not our fight and it's not our problem to stick our noses in. Should you find yourself in an altercation between the two, regulate yourself to damage control for your surroundings.
If unavoidable, do us all a favor and try not to antagonize them. They don't show any desire to destroy the planet we currently live on. Let's not tempt fate in order to figure out if the word "planet killer" was used as an exaggeration or not.
Not much is known about our own Deoxys to begin with, which opens many questions on what that means for us. Leave the theory crafting to our research staff. For now, let's extend this level of caution to our own Deoxys as well, should we find them in our orbit again.
Be sure to brief your stewards on the situation. Stand by for further information.
Go, As Arceus Wills It.

"You've heard it here first, folks: friend or foe?-- does it matter? Some believe that you should just get the hell out of the way! And, you know what? That brings me to my next point!"
"We've hit the streets all over the world.. to get YOUR opinion on the matter! The conflict between brothers from another universe, filled with power beyond our understanding, broadcasted live to the entire world! Did you see it!? Who was in the right!? Was there truly a 'wrong' side!? Is the 'Catalyst' known as 'Deo' or 'Deoxys' even alive!? Let's find out!"
"Let's move to our ground team!"
***
"Lady Reshi! Lady Reshi! Please spare us a moment! You were there in person, yes!? What are your thoughts on the situation!?"
"..."
"I might not have understood everything between Deoxys and his.. brother, I believe, but I do know this though: Deoxys was, and still is, a friend."
The woman on the broadcast looked at her hands. Was she checking for something? The camera catches that they're shaking.
"I would have stood by his side because I know he would have done it for me. He-" Her gaze stretches beyond the camera. She seemed deep in thought.. or as if she was recalling the scene that erupted days prior, replaying every moment to grasp every detail.
"I don't know if he is alive," she answered honest as she always did, "I just hope he found what he was looking for. And, if he is out there, somewhere, perhaps we will cross paths again in the future. I'd very much like that."
It seemed that the woman was going to say more, but she declines the interview going any further, taking her words with her. They were saved for those who knew the orange alien.

"Excuse me-- excuse me! You were something of a friend to the Deoxys known as 'Deo', weren't you! Can you give us some thoughts!"
"My thoughts…? I believe in Deoxys. I can't say I can always understand who is right or wrong, but I don't want to focus on that. Let me answer your last question."
"As for if Deo is alive, I know he is." While she clearly looks uncomfortable being interviewed, she seems confident in her answer. Her voice then trails off. "And if he isn't, well," Eir's voice goes incredibly quiet, not loud enough to be picked up by the mic.
One could see her mouth move but it isn't clear what she says next.

"But, that's not all, folks! Here at DOX News, we pride ourselves in getting the peoples' word even when they might not want to be on camera!"
"Tell me, ground team, what else are the people saying!? Put the transcripts on the broadcast!"

Chai sat still for a long moment, her gaze glued to her feet. Her whole self was just… tired.
"I…" A pause, but not as long as she initially started off. "I think.. I made things worse for him. Running in, thinking I could help…stupid."
Inhale. Exhale. She finally looks up, eyes slightly red. "It was selfish of me, I know. I.. I wanted to know him better. I couldn't stand the thought of him being hurt. But in the end? What did I say??" Her voice breaks as she lets out a small cry. "I don't care what he did, just don't die!! That's what I should've said, but I didn't and…"
"I didn't have the courage to tell him that I love him. That I always looked forward to spending time with him. I choked back my own wants in the hopes for his…happiness, that I don't even know what was."
"…if Deo is still out there? I won't give up this time… I'm sorry. I wish I could be more bold. Thank you for being you."

"Asking me about something that doesn't involve me? Very well, since I'm clearly the face of these interviews. Let me just..."
Destino brushed their fur with their claws, making sure their hairs fell into what they felt was the right place. They didn't know if this was going to be recorded, but they had to look good for the interview-- not that they already didn't look drop-dead gorgeous mind you. [Little did they know, the studio specifically chose to only air the transcript instead of the video. Allegedly, Destino pissed off someone in production.]
They flashed the interview a dazzling grin before continuing, "Let's see... right. The fight. Yeah, two Pokémon- the pair incredibly ugly-looking- fought each other. Punches landed. Very graphic for my liking. Honestly, the thought of blood staining my fur would be dreadful, and yet, they just decided they were OK with it. No idea what they were talking about as I was too busy not wanting to engage with the idiocry. I think there were a few others there too, one that I recognized from before. White haired Absol, or at least, that's what I think she is. I dunno. All I know is [transcript censored by production, unrelated to the interview]. Oh right, I should probably talk more about this silly bout of combat. Listen, that orange one is clearly dead. I don't think anyone could survive something like that. If he's alive, I'd eat my crown. That's how confident I am with this."
[Allegedly, the production crew attempted to sign Destino to a legally-binding contract to eat their crown if the situation occurs. It is unclear if they were successful.]

Zuzu scowled at the interviewer as if he'd been asked if you should pour coke into a bowl of cereal. "It's a bad idea to get involved with ANY legendary to begin with. The fact these Deoxys' have made the city their playground and Pokémon have gotten hurt says all there is to say about that. They ripped the city in half and turned it into a metal sandwich. Sure, everyone else in the city was teleported away- but their possessions? Their homes and community spaces? The place where they grew up? That's been thrown into disarray. That won't be cheap to rebuild, if possible at all- some things are irreplaceable. Legendaries are meant to uphold a larger ecological role, away from the mortal eye."
"And the shiny one- Dioxys, clearly dangerous to anyone he deems an ally to Deoxys. Imagine becoming friends with Deoxys, having no idea of his past. You're [beep] by association. I'm out here just trying to collect berries for tomorrow, don't pull me in to all this [beep]."
His ears pointed downwards with his creased brows. "Sure, you're angry about someone choosing not to uphold an important duty? You're angry about people being killed by his actions? Okay. I think these are legendary matters that should be dealt with legendaries, in their realms. Not the mortal plane."
"And the orange one- Deo. Yeah, it's [beep] that he left the planet behind! It's legendaries' job to uphold balance and manage those larger problems- he didn't do that. But, if the procedures were bad enough to make a legendary push away, maybe other alternatives were necessary. But given the state of the world, maybe that just wasn't in the cards."
"So is Deo alive? [beep] if I know." He sprung his arms and shoulders out before dropping them back down with a light plop. Sarcasm laced his tone as he spoke. "Maybe we'll never see Deoxys again, or maybe he'll regenerate and climb out the [beep] crack of some nebula. If he does- I think he's obligated to aiding the planet in some way. Clearly he had immense energy and ability. If he had changed? He should demonstrate it."

The young 'rai seemed a touch confused--what broadcast was there? Something happened to the one Deoxys that visited a few times? Well, that was no good. Deep down, maybe it was a good idea Luxu didn't know what happened, didn't see what had occurred. It was certainly not a sight for a pair of young eyes.
"I didn't know there was another Deoxys… but if they were fighting, maybe they both were right, like they both have something to be right about."
"I don't know why anyone would want to fight with him, he was always nice to me," the young Darkrai mused, tilting his head. "A little weird sometimes, but he never felt like someone to stay away from. I haven't seen him in forever, so…"
His gaze turns downwards for a moment as he wanders in his thoughts. After a couple of seconds he looks up again with a soft smile.
"He doesn't seem like someone who gives up. Wherever he is, I'm sure he's trying his best. It'd be nice to see him come back to visit. I hope he's okay."

"So, you heard it here first, folks! The populace at large is.. mostly unsure of how to feel! Lots of alledged friends came out of the woodwork to speak on the spectacle while others seemed like they had significant complaints they needed to air! The drama of it all is just.. too much!"
"That concludes today's broadcast. Thank you for watching DOX News, and I'll see you tomorrow! Stay frosty, everybody."

"I brought you a coffee," the older woman thought, not wasting her breath to speak the words aloud. She held it out, and as expected, it slowly floated away from her grasp. "This is going.. slower than I expected," her voice tinged with surprise, but it was almost an.. appreciative surprise, somewhat impressed.
“Thank you,” his voice was still cold, but there was this.. indescribable change to it that only she noticed. Though, who else was really around to see anyways? He slowly raised one of the hands from his lap and took the coffee from the air, taking a long, satisfied sip. “It’s good,” despite the fact that she knowingly spoke within her mind, he made the conscious decision to hear his own voice.
The woman snickered, and though she tried to hide her thoughts, of course he knew, “You have the same favorite coffee order as him?”
“Shut up,” is all he responded with.
The duo fell silent, their gazes set on the horizon. For him, it was any average day, but for her..? She never got tired of the beauty that the boys were capable of. She took a step forward towards the cliffside to get a better view, and she simply just.. stood there, and she held her warm coffee cup in her hands. She cared not that it was steadily getting cold, for her attention was elsewhere.
Past the cliff, beyond the desert, and to the flat wreckage of the days prior, a city was slowly re-materializing back into existence. He could have just replicated it exactly how it was, and it would only take him a mere minute to do so. But.., the alien had a desire to leave it better than he found it.
Slowly but surely over the course of the next thirty minutes, the dark, star-filled sky’s attention was taken away from the endless beauty of the vast cosmos. Even the stars above couldn’t help but bask in the light of the desert, all eyes on it.
Though it was the middle of the night, the scene was aglow, pink streaks of crackling light and godrays enveloping the horizon wide. Out there in the desert, every corner, every inch, every detail of the city was rematerializing into existence. The alien’s memory was infallible, and he knew it all. He knew where each coffee stain was, where each stuffed animal in all the bedrooms should be placed, and he knew every dent on every car. However, as mentioned, he went above and beyond. Instead of exactly replicating the city, he improved it.
Dioxys took his time, and over the course of those thirty minutes, he utilized his psychic well to not only re-create the city, but he fixed every single problem in the city. Every pothole, every cracked window, every stuttering light, every creaking door-- no matter how small or big the issue was, Dioxys fixed it, but not only that, he went out of his way to mend old toys, give cars a new coat of paint, and replaced appliances with brand new models, among a few examples.
The city glowed even brighter as, with each section of the city that was completed, Dioxys teleported the denizens back to the city-- back to their homes. Over the course of those thirty minutes, the city was a chorus of shining light that waved across from one end to the other, a giant domino effect of returning denizens in perfected homes. At least, most of the denizens. Those of irredeemable crimes, dictated by Dioxys, were simply.. Well, that was a fate only Dioxys was privy to. And, if such disappearances would cause alarm or otherwise ruin families, Dioxys simply erased their existence from history. Some people were better left being forgotten in his mind.
By the time he was done, every soul that deserved to return to the city was returned, and he hoped that this would be a fresh, better chapter for them.
The Clefable rested a proud hand on Dioxys’ shoulder. “I know you’re about to leave, but.. Thank you. I’m really, really glad I got to see you.”
“...” Without another word, Dioxys took his coffee and flew away.

“Deo! Oh, Allie, I’m so glad you can join us!”
“Allie,” he thought, “What a ridiculous thing..,” however, despite whatever he said in his mind, his tone was that of endearment.. and love. While the other station workers referred to him and his brother as ‘aliens’ or 'viruses', the doctor referred to them as ‘Allie’ (not to be confused with 'Ally). “Fine..,” he finally begrudged, “I’ll sit..,” and like a good dog, he did just that. With a seat atop the blanket under the unfamiliar, bright blue sky, Deo sat next to his three closet family members.
“You’re always so gloomy..,” Dioxys snickered with a wry laugh, his arm extended to rub the top of Deo’s head like he was giving him a bald noogie. “Come on, bro, just let yourself cut loose for once, yeah?”
“Deo!?-- cutting loose!? HAH!” The Hoopa hollered, his voice booming across the courtyard. Just past the walls of the courtyard, into the actual station itself, chaos was erupting, but he knew his family were worried not. Regardless of what happens, the four of them would just enjoy the blue sky. It was the first time in years that they got to see it.
Deo, meanwhile, rolled eyes he did not have.
“Oh, come on, guys!” Cherri grumbled, her brow furrowed, “Don’t pick on him, okay? He’s had a long week, and..” Her hand, perhaps subconsciously, found Dioxys’, their fingers momentarily intertwining, “I don’t think Deo would pick on you like that, you know?”
Dioxys’ face flushed a deep blue, and his fingers escaped Cherri’s. He ripped his gaze away from the older woman, for he knew she would dismantle and disarm him in minutes. Unfortunately for Dioxys, he had the worst poker face in the universe, and it elicited a happy giggle from Cherri.
Kujo the Hoopa, meanwhile, was more focused on the sustenance of the picnic. Using his psychic well, he easily disintegrated the picnic basket to start spreading the food across the blanket, and, on this particular day.., he felt problematic. He wanted to cause problems. Kujo, the elder of the family, glanced up at the other three. “So, Cherri, Dioxys.., when are the two of you going to quit pretending to not be a couple around us? I mean, we are.. Basically the strongest psychics ever created. Why are we pretending that we can’t read each others’ memories? Well, excluding you of course, mi amor.”
Both Cherri and Dioxys’ faces burned so bright that they could be used as lighthouses for lost ships.
Deo, however, had no interest in embarrassing his younger brother. With an immediate change of the topic, the orange alien spoke, “Hey, I just wanted to say.. Thank you guys.., you know? I know I can be.. Well, I don’t know how to put it. I feel a lot of things, and I have a lot of really strong feelings. I mean, you know that part, obviously. I’m probably the loudest, most obnoxious person you know, and I just.. I just say stuff without really thinking, and I get my feelings hurt really easy. Maybe I’m fragile, I don’t know.. I just..”
Deo’s faceless face gazed between his three friends. “I wanted to apologize for being me, but I also wanted to thank you for letting me just be me.”
The moment was so embarrassing that his other family members laughed, unsure of how to really respond, but Dioxys’, somewhere deep down, was filled with admiration.
Deo nodded, and sighed. He was glad that he could be the butt of the conversation. In a way.., it made him feel important. The orange alien went out of his way to take a long, long moment to remember the faces of each of his family members.
And, unknown to him in that moment, years and years in the future, long after their planet was gone, and days after a certain altercation, the orange alien retaining this memory would give another soul the face of their lost beloved that they could not remember.
Despite that just days prior, Dioxys could not remember Cherri’s face.. Today, as he flew to the unknown, he was able to remember her face, and he smiled.
"Thank you."

*Hope approaches Sam, curious about the map he held in his hands.*
Hope: Hmm, you know that map doesn’t look very clear on where you need to go. The cartographers could have done a better job. Do you know where you’re actually going? It feels like you could get awfully lost here if you don’t know where you need to be. Sorry, I’m probably assuming too much. I have a friend who’s a Lucario. You remind me a little of him and he’s someone who has no sense of direction. I’ve had to help him out on many occasions.
