my question but phrased better β‘οΈ if you're a music gif maker, pls interact with this bc i'll read the tags. how did you deal with the anxiety and decision to put OR not to put a watermark on your gifs even if there's a possibility it gets cropped out anyway and then reposted ππ what helped you make your decision? sometimes we gif π΄ββ οΈ content so the material isn't ours in the first place, but it's the reposting/reclaiming (+ without crediting) when you barely get reblogs here that's annoying
for me, i would say yes technically we gif a lot of π΄ββ οΈ content but arguably it needs more work in making those gifs, from finding the content to improving the quality of the source and then ofc the usual gifmaking stages of colour-correcting, sharpening and so on - so full rights to put a watermark on that gif!! and it goes without saying that if the source is someone's fancam that u have permission to gif, their watermark remains on as well. as for the anxiety/decision part its irritating and disheartening but at the end of the day what can u do π i feel like that sounds like rubbish advice and not helpful but see i love making svt gifs because i love seventeen - even tho there isn't much interaction on caratblr nowadays, i can't control what people screenshot and repost on the internet and its not like im getting paid (i wish.) for notes, likes, followers since thats what makes tumblr stand out as a social media site so it is what it is...but a watermark does help at least point an audience to the direction of the gifmaker
