Oh wow so Riverdale has a āblack hoodā killer and a mysterious, estranged, missing son named Charlesā¦if only this story had been told before
Cherylās dad is alive. Her uncle is dead.
My theory:
Clifford hung his own twin brother, Claudius.
The cops were after Cliff. He staged his own suicide by using his twin.
Cherylās dad is posing as her uncle.
Cliff killed his brother. And is now pretending to be his brother.
Also, Penelope is totally aware about the entire thing.
Some thoughts on Riverdale, Season 2.
While I really love the show, I noticed a few things that are very bad written. The Black Hood plot would have been enough for one season, but here we go.
1. The Black Hood: The presented solution makes no sense. Plus they opened another subplot concerning Nana Rose and the town folks murdering someone which - up until now - stays unmentioned. I still hope that the Black Hood was hired by the Lodges to āprepareā the good people of Riverdale for their prison project.
2. The lynching of an innocent: Shortly presented, now unmentioned. Doesnāt make sense. Itās part of the whole civil war subplot, which also is unfinished by now.
3. Killing of the Serpent tribe by the Blossoms: Shortly mentioned, now forgotten. Cheryl changed because of that, and Jughead changed, too, but thatās it.
4. Cheryl stalking Josie: 2 or 3 episodes of stalking, now just shortly mentioned by Penelope. Maybe they use it in the future.
5. Cheryl hating the Southsiders: You could expect a battle between the southsiders and the cheerleaders, but it also was just for one episode.
6. Cheryl loving Toni: While I really love that subplot, itās a little strange if you count in point 6. From āI hate youā to āI love youā in a very short time. In over 20 episodes this could have been solved much smoother.
7. Cheryl at the Sisterās: This could have been a huge thing, stretching over 5 or 6 episodes, but was just good for one cliffhanger. This is just bad writing you would expect in a MacGyver 2 Episode plot in the 1990s (I am a fan of the original MacGyver show, but thatās just how it is).
8. Random people popping up every now and then: Just take Nick. Could have been an excellent plot, but was withdrawn quickly.
9. A musical episode: Just why? I know that Aguirre-Saccasa wrote the MGM Carrie remake and that is all nice, but I am very thrilled to see how this would not fit into the story. Maybe I am wrong and they have a great connection in mind how that will develop the show.
10. The Pussycats: If someone has seen them, call 911.
11. Penny Peabody: Again⦠great character. Imagine the possibilities.
And now for the things I appreciate:
1. Archie joining the Lodges: Naive Archie is so in love with Veronica that he abandons hos hobbies, joins the mafia and starts to fight against his parents and his best friend. This is a classic. Bad influence, madly in love. Great.
2. Everything Penelope: Sheās a bad person. Even tough I really love her she is so evil. Plotting to get rid of Nana Rose and Cheryl, whoring around, has possibly killed her husband.
3. Betty joining the Serpents and acting strange: See 1: Someone is under the influence, tries to fit in, tries to emancipate herself, exploring her dark side.
4. Betty & Archie and the burying scene: A classic, too. Very dark, but too soon.
5. Alice killing that white-trash-guy: So many possibilities.
And now some hopes for the future and how they can save the season and show in general:
1. Black Hood was hired by Hiram to scare the good people of Riverdale so they agree to build a jail.
2. The Black Hood is still out there and the janitor was just some lunatic copycat.Ā Maybe it is Bettyās brothers or someone we donāt expect.
3. The musical episode is a metaphor that gives us some insight in the dark secrets of Riverdale.
-> In a nutshell they should focus on one or two strong plots in season 3 and stay with them. Donāt hesitate to let bad things happen to beloved characters. Season 2ā²s expected main plot was The Black Hood mystery - but it only lasted 12 or 13 episodes. That shouldnāt happen again.
I agree 100% on the blackhood copycat thing. The Blackhood is just laying low, and it's a much closer person than a random janitor.
Also I would add that FP is most probably Chic's father.
I have spent years decoding Pretty Little Liars and I think Riversale does not take as many precautions dissimulating their plots under layers of faint hints and vague symbolism. When they reach 7 seasons and people get nervous for answers maybe they will have to š
Does anyone else think that FP is Chicās real father? Like, they even kinda look similar. (I donāt know if anyone else has said this.)
Definitely...

Archie's hair
I have always thought the reason KJ Apaās hair was died red was because he was secretely related to the blossoms. I seriously have been lowkey waiting for this plot twist since s01e01. Only today have I learned that the characters are actually from a comic book and that there might be no connection after all *sigh*
I say this with absolutely no snark intended⦠but are the Archie comics really completely unknown to some people? Thatās mind blowing to me, but probably because Iāve always been a fan of them. I just thought everyone knew about them like they know about JFK and Elvis.
Is it international viewers who are just finding this out? Or Americans too?
The comic has been around for nearly 80 years, and contains an entire universe that includes āJosie and the Pussycatsā and āSabrina the Teenage Witchā. The series ran for many decades as just the comedic journey of some typical All-American teenagers in a small town. Silly little love triangles, fights between rival football teams and loads of punny names for common items and brands. And they still use that today in the TV show, like when they refer to Veronicaās American Express credit card as āAmerican Excessā.
The series got a major overhaul this century and started to more resemble the tv series we see now. The show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was (is I think) actually the Chief Creative Officer for the comics and played a huge part in the massive changes that took place in the books.
I definitely encourage you to read up a bit about the history of the comic books! It actually makes the show way more enjoyable cause there are little Easter eggs throughout.
I think one of the reasons they cast Molly Ringwald as Archieās Mom was to help explain why Archie is a redhead, and help us cut the connection to the Blossoms. But, that being said I absolutely would not at all be surprised if sometime in the future they revealed that his mom is actually a Blossom, or Clifford Blossom was his biological father. They played up Cliffordās attachment to him pretty hard in season one.
To be honest I am not a comic book fan so that may explain why I did not know the Archie comics, but I am also from Belgium and I am not sure these were ever translated. The only character I knew was Sabrina, because the TV series made it across the ocean. But thank you for the detailed background history :)

Stranger Things theory (for a change)
Yeah PLL is over but one day a theorist always a theorist. Spoilers ahead of course. SO at the end of season 1 I had a look at the prevailing mibdblowing theories and one of them really caught my attention: El is the Monster, and this is why she disappears when she kills it in the finale. I really liked it because there was no real reason for them to make the monster's hand rise in their battle. It was as if he was mirroring her actions. Go and search for theories on Youtube there are quite a few convincing ones. I've read that season 2 has proved that 'El is the monster' theory wrong but I disagree. Maybe Eleven was not the demogorgon, but she could still be "the monster". Think about it - El created the Upside Down. Or rather, she opened the gate to it. Later in season 2, Kali makes Papa appear and he tells her she has an open wound which will fester. Doesn't that sound an awful lot like the gate and the rotting Upside Down behind it? I think the Upside Down mirrors Eleven's soul or something. She has something powerful and violent inside her and when the doctors pushed her too far her walls broke, unleashing the kraken. I was slightly disappointed that this season was yet again the story of fighting a new monster from the Upside Down. But if I was writing the show and had a grand finale in mind (and probably netflix barking in my ear to make it last as long as possible, too), I guess I would come up with a new monster storyline to continue dropping clues but not give too much away. The fact that this monster was a 'mindflayer' could kind of fit with this theory that the Upside Down is really Eleven's mind.
Riverdale Theory
In the promo for 2x04, you see Betty reading something (It was heavily hinted that itās a letter from the Black Hood), and she says, āHeās doing it for me.ā As in the killer is killing all the sinners for Betty..? Could this mean that the killer is Bettyās long lost brother? It would make sense with the eye color and everything, right? Does anyone have any thoughts? And we do know that her brother will come into play this season, and my bets are on him.
I completely forgot about this secret sibling!!
I never thought Iād say this but I really miss PLL. It took a while to sink in, but now itās hitting me that the show has gone.
I miss the theories even more!!! š

Iāve read the Pilot and Marleneās a genius. It has nothing to do with PLL, but Marlene wants to incorporate us. Its a murder mystery so its very PLL like as far as that and I think the fans are really going to enjoy it.
- Sasha Pieterse on PLL: The Perfectionists
Mmmh. I will not believe anything the cast says about Marlene's work until I see it with my own eyes.
Hey, I just saw how French people say 1999, and just curious, is France ok?
At first I was like āwhat itās not that weirdā and then I wrote it down
Mille neuf cent quatre-vingt-dix neuf
(tr: A thousand nine hundred four-twenty-ten nine)
yeah okay yEAH OKAY OKAY YEAH
OKAY
Maryne⦠Please tell me this is a French inside joke and you guys really donāt say 1999 as a thousand nine hundred four-twenty-ten nineā¦
The French do... 70 is pronounced sixty+ten, 80 is fourXtwenty and 90 is fourXtwenty+ten. LOTS of maths all the time. Belgians are way simpler when it comes to numbers! And the Swiss way is the best: 70 is septante, 80 is octante and 90 is nonante.
weāre approaching labor day so remember: no sleepovers in barns. dont wear a yellow shirt. hide your shovels. dont drink alcohol. make sure anyone you bury is actually dead. yall know the drill by now.
no show should be longer than 5 seasons
what show have you watched where you are likeĀ āoh yeah season 7 definitely was the best oneā
Did you mean: Pretty Little Liars
Just finished Orphan Black and yes, one more example that best series have 5 seasons max.
Why it wasn't romantic that Toby knew which one is Alex and which one is Spencer
Well⦠did he know? Did Toby even know Alex was the one on the left and Spencer was the one on the right? Marlene claims that although Spoby never got their final kiss like all the other ships, it was āuber romanticā and āthe most romantic scene of the finaleā when Toby knew Alex from Spencer. Again - did he even know? My problem with that scene is that it comes across too reliant on luck. It comes across like āIāll just pick the one on the left, ask her a question only Spencer would know, and weāll see what she says. If she canāt answer it, then I proceed to arrest her. If she can answer it, I need to quickly arrest the other twinā. Thereās no proof that Toby actually KNEW he chose Alex over Spencer. Thereās no proof that Toby could actually differentiate between them. In my mind, he just got lucky that the twin he chose to interrogate first was Alex. Maybe thatās why Spoby fans arenāt so appreciative of that scene, because it doesnāt symbolise what Marlene thinks it does. That scene wasnāt āuber romanticā at all because again, it comes across like luck. Marlene would reply in defence and say ābut it wasnāt luck, he actually DID knowā. My response: the fact that you left it open ended for me to INTERPRET it as luck, isnāt good. Okay, maybe it wasnāt luck, but the fact that interpretation is available goes to show that it wasnāt a strong moment.
I totally agree, and may I add that it is even less romantic when you remember that Toby actually had sex with Alex and couldn't tell the difference. I mean the way she made love didn't tip him off but a bloody book without notes did? Hello?!??

I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered a load of times, but I seem to be getting different answers. So, has Marlene ever said when she knew A.D's identity? And if the series did end on season 5, would she have made Charlotte or Alex be A?
Marlene has said that she got the idea of Alex Drake at the beginning of season 5. Marlene told Troian (and Keegan) that she has this idea, but sheās not sure if Freeform will allow it. And it wasnāt until she wrote 620 that Freeform finally green-lit her Alex Drake idea. Thatās why we never heard the initials AD in the show until 620 - Alex Drake was still just an idea during 611 to 619.
And thatās why Alexās story was so totally irrelevant to all seasons prior to 6B: ADās story was a result of extending the show beyond the original 5 seasons she had planned. It was a treat. āOh you like the show so much? Iāll make up one more story for youā. To quote Troian, it just had to be a genesis story. The plan was to end the show at Charlotteās reveal but the showās popularity made Marlene have to think on her feet and come up with a story to CONTINUE from Charlotteās story.
I know a lot of people hated Alexās story, but the way I see it⦠it was a bonus story. The show was supposed to end with 525, potentially revealing CeCe as Charles then and there in the dollhouse. But we got this extra genesis story which kept PLL in our lives for an extra 2 years so Iām grateful for it. It was all a bonus story that was never planned, and we never had to get it. Extending the story beyond what was planned was done out of love for the fans, in my opinion.
I would have preferred it to end at the end of season 5 I think... I get s6 ans 7 were a bonus and we should have treated it like that but it wasn't possible at the time. Why? Because Marlene filled our little heads with the idea there was an Uber A, an ultimate mastermind who was even controlling BigA aka Charlotte. Even Mona in one of the very last espisodes says "there has always been somebody watching, manipulating" and I swear to you, hearing this on a promo made me go mad with hope and expectations. So yeah the Twincer storyline was fine but just a remake of the Charlotte storyline really. Nice bonus but NOT the big thing that a lot of us was expecting.
If any of my followers happen to be interested in reading FanFiction, I recently uploaded the first chapter of my new story, In Death We Do Part.
Basically, I was so disappointed with the finale that I decided to redo it my way. Different timeline, different plot, and different A.D. And if you guys are particularly attached to any of the couples, this might not be the one for you. Two out of four of the main endgames are definitely not ending up together, and Iām undecided on the other two.
Itās also OC-centric, the second story of mine to feature Viola, Monaās headstrong, sarcastic, stubborn younger sister. Itās not necessary to understand the plot of this one, but my initial story about her, Sister, Sister, can be found here.
Iām trying to get some feedback on my writing so itād be awesome if some of you would like to read and leave me a review! I assure you, my ending will definitely be a lot more unpredictable - and hopefully a lot more satisfying - than what we got.
Please do write more I need this!!!
