What are your favorite albums? (from any band you like :D)
This is going to be long so if you don't want to read it all I highlighted album names
It's a bit of a tricky question for me because I honestly have trouble ranking music even subjectively because I love different albums in very different ways, and there aren't really any albums that I love in every way possible I think😭 also even if I'm obsessed with an album initially I'll eventually get bored by it in some sense anyway. And then I don't know if it's fair to say that it's my favourite album when I'm not fascinated by nearly every thing that it offers and I don't have a deep emotional connection to it. Idk😭😭😭 one of the things that I really notice and appreciate in an album is vibe, I guess, but judging by that my favourite beach boys album would be Surfin' Safari???? 😭 Which doesn't really feel right, like I'm choosing it over a masterpiece that is Pet Sounds?? I love Surfin' Safari more than Pet Sounds?? Maybe I'm just afraid that people will think I'm a Mike Love sunshiney beachy pop formula glazer that hates weird music if I say that I do lol. And last year I thought Holland was my favourite mainly because I had a time of my life one very nice sunny morning listening to California Saga on a bus.. And I DO love Pet Sounds and think it's a masterpiece and I have a Pet Sounds pin on my bag and at some point I tried to do a favourite albums list and put it there, but mainly because it just felt right. I never listened to Pet Sounds religiously and I have to be in a mood (a very very sad that is) to want to listen to it fully. I DO have an emotional connection to it. I love it. Stepping aside from the beach boys, which are my favourite band (I guess), it gets a bit easier:
Angel Station - Mandred Mann's Earth Band
Around Grapefruit - Grapefruit
The Bonniwell Music Machine's self titled
Filet of Soul - Jan & Dean
If No One Sang - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
The Who Sell Out - The Who
Something Happening - Paul Revere & The Raiders
But then again, I love the classic line up of the Raiders more than the later one, same goes for the Earth Band, I don't know who sings which songs on the Grapefruit album, I don't know anything about Sean Bonniwell or have much emotional connection to that album. But I think those albums are fantastic and musically I really enjoy them.
I can't decide on my favourite Association album because to me they are pretty close together and highlighting one doesn't feel fair to the others. But if I had to highlight... XD it would be Insight Out.
I recently became a fan of Curt Boettcher and his incredible projects so I would say Begin by the Millennium is one of my favourite albums but in the same way as like, Angel Station by MMEB. Also of course Present Tense by Sagittarius!
With Status Quo I now realise that I love(d) them in more of an autistic way rather than because I actually loved the music😭😭😭 I listened to them because I couldn't stop lol. But some of my favourite songs of their come from Rockin' All Over The World!
My favourite Beatles album is With The Beatles. No comments. (I actually have the same problem as with the beach boys but whatever)
I already mentioned DDDBMT before but again, choosing one of their albums to be my favourite is more of a formality, they literally just have four and I love them all just about the same (Curt Boettcher reference💀). But SOMETHING about their last album Together feels somehow closer to my heart than others.
I mentioned the Who too, and with them I was torn between The Who Sell Out and Who's Next for a very long time. I may actually love Who's Next more at the moment, because it's personally nostalgic to me.
Don't ask me about Manfred Mann I DON'T KNOWWWWWW their 1966 EPs are my favourite. .
Probably the most embarrassing is my unhealthy enormous love for Terry Melcher's Royal Flush😔😔😔but I realise that it's actually pretty mediocre. Also if Bruce & Terry released an album as a duo I would probably listen to it religiously.
