Narrative Essays: When the writer is describing an incident or story throughout his/her essay. The purpose when writing narrative essays is to include the reader in the story as the reader was right there when it happened. So make them as clear and true as possible. 1 way to make this possible is to obey the principle of ‘show, don’t tell’. So you must include the reader in the essay.

Descriptive Essays: Here the writer will describe a point, an object, an incident or possibly a memory. The writer must paint an image through his words.
