144-Year-Old Japanese Pink Wisteria Tree
Covering an area of over 2,000 square meters, this tree has been part of the Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan since 1870. Because of the nature of Wisteria trees spreading, it’s heavy branches are now supported by metal structures allowing tourists to get amazing photo opportunity below its canopy. (Source)
What kind of advice do you have for a current graphic design student?
First off: Making it as a designer is only about half creativity and artistic talent, the other half is hustle and business smarts. If you really want to get into a position that you enjoy, you have to work your ass off on not only your portfolio, but also establishing a strong online presence, and possibly even starting a blog in your niche to increase you credibility when potential clients come to your website. This does mean spending a lot of your downtime working on your own brand.
Second: Find your niche. In a world where there are SO MANY people trying to make it as designers, figuring out the best way to use your skills and passions will ensure that you find a position you’ll really thrive in. If you’re in a job that is not particularly enjoyable or fulfilling, spend some of you down time finding freelance projects that pertain to your passions and purpose. Don’t try to do it all, focus your skills in one particular area and put your all into it!
Third: Do design & creative hobbies you enjoy on the side. Until you get a design position that you really love, it can be easy to burn out on the mundane, unfulfilling work that pays the bills. Refresh your inner creative by doing things that might not be design, but fuel your soul.

Last night I dreamed that I was back I Vancouver for a visit, and holy shot did that dream feel real. I don't care that it's not #tbt or #fbf, I'm posting about one of my absolute favorite cities on this Earth today. Vancouver is a beautifully constructed cultural hub that fosters so many amazing movements and groups of people. Nestled between mountains and ocean, the city makes up the perfect integration of urban and natural landscapes. One day, Vancouver, I'm gonna live in you again. If any of you have the opportunity to experience this amazing city, DO IT. Get a passport, do some independent travelling, experience new places and discover yourself.
