I want to try to draw more realistically. Iām a little bit embarrassed to share some of my drawings, but I feel like itās the first important step to getting over my fear of showing others my art ā online and in person. Maybe this can be a way to also document my progress, Iām not sure. Whatever happens, I hope I can look back and see how much Iāve grown, even if I feel that these are awful right now.
I take a lot of inspiration from games like Diablo, Fallout, RDR 2, and the Elder Scrolls, and from artists like Norman Rockwell and Gil Elvgren. Iāve tried to draw with some realism before, but I feel like Iāve given up each time because they didnāt turn out the way that I wanted them to. I hope that in sharing these I get over that perfectionism and the need to compare myself to others, especially to masters in the field, and learn to love the process of drawing again.
I saw someone online say something like āa thousand strokes on paper is a thousand strokes closer to where you want to be artisticallyā, and Iāve taken that to heart. Although I still feel discouraged when making art sometimes, itās gotten a lot better once I distanced myself from social media and adopted that mindset. Creating art has actually become fun again, and I intend to continue drawing in order to refine and improve my current skill set and get to where I want to be someday instead of being disheartened at where I am today.
Anyways, thank you for reading! :)
