A lot of people will judge their compatibility with someone off things like “do they have hobbies” “are they funny” “are they ambitious” “what music do they like” literally whatever the fuck. But even though someone could check all those boxes, a connection can never be appropriately formed if the answer to “do they make me feel safe” is ambivalent and unclear. Always ask yourself “do I feel safe around this person” when forming both friendships and relationships. Ask if you’re a safe person for them too. How cool a person is can never make up for lack of emotional safety on either end.

i'm re-watching Stargate SG-1 and i'm dreading when Daniel's whimsy is stolen from him by the horrors. I love his fascination of these other worlds and how their cultures parallel our past, his naive tendency to trust others. Most of all, i'll miss his floppy hair :(

Honestly one of the many reasons I wish they'd kept Jonas on the show even after Daniel came back was so he could've helped him regain some of his sense of whimsy. Jonas went through the horrors too but he still had that sense of wonder that in Daniel was becoming more jaded at that point. I think they would've balanced each other out really well in the later seasons. Daniel keeping Jonas grounded but Jonas reminding Daniel of the enthusiasm he had when he first joined the team. It was such a wasted opportunity imo
