How to Study- when youâre unmotivated
Hello everyone! Today weâre gonna tackle the big question: How can I study when I have no motivation, at all?
Iâve just gone through a whole week full of tests and Iâm really tired of revising material, again and again. Yes, even I lose motivation to study sometimes!
So, letâs move on to the tips.
1. Set goals and visualise them. And imagine what will happen in the long run. If I really work hard for this exam, Iâll be going up that stage in front of 500 students to receive that .prize that everyoneâs eyeing for. Take Oprah Winfrey, as an example. As a child watching her grandmother toil away, Winfrey says sheâd tell herself over and over again: âMy life wonât be like this. My life wonât be like this, it will be better.â

2. Break down your tasks into tinier chunks. That way, youâll feel like youâre being more productive and feel more motivated to cross of the entire list.
3. 10 minutes rule. Your brain will think itâs more acceptable to learn 10 minutes, but when you are learning, you may want to continue to finish the task (which will exceed 10 minutes).

4. Study with friends/a pal/family member. This tip varies, it depends whether your friends/buddy/family member is supportive and will actually motivate you to get your work done. Iâm not really into the whole âgroup studyâ style, because well, Iâm not that productive if there are people around me.Â
5. Get the help you need. If youâre still confused about algebra, ask your teacher for help. He/she wonât bite! Instead, theyâll be pleased that their student has the initiative to ask for an explanation.
6. Think about how privileged you are, being in a school and having an access to education. Many kids out there donât even go to a school. Be thankful people!

7. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments
Reward yourself when you complete a task. Snack on some granola bars, watch a YouTube vidâ whatever that makes you happy . Then move on!

Thatâs all! Hope you have a really productive study session after trying out these tips + tricks!Â

One of the more profound things Iâve heard recently came from a Mr. Rogers documentary. In a clip from his show, Mr. Rogers had just visited with a musician, and tells his audience that some people play music, and some people donât, and thatâs okay.
And then he said, âThe important thing is to find something you feel good about doing.â
That phrasing struck me. âSomething you feel good about doingâ. Most people would have phrased it as âsomething you enjoy doingâ. Or âsomething youâre good at doingâ. But Mr. Rogersâ subtly different phrasing leads to a profoundly different connotation. âSomething you feel good about doingâ may not be enjoyableâpeople who work in hospitals or in disaster zones might not enjoy much of their day, but they probably feel good about helping people. âSomething you feel good about doingâ may not be something youâre particularly good atâyou may be a terrible artist by any objective standard, but if you feel good about making your art, then itâs a worthwhile endeavor. Looking for âsomething you feel good about doingâ can help you find a truly satisfying life path.
That phrase is also helpful with daily decision-making. Too often, I can make choices based on âwhat feels good.â I put aside tasks that are too stressful or avoid activities that seem too difficult, in favor of mindlessly browsing the internet. And I enjoy myself. I feel good while Iâm doing that. But at the end of the day, I donât feel good about how I spent my time. However, reminding myself to do âsomething I feel good about doingâ can motivate me to accomplish those more difficult tasks. It can push me to do something outside of my comfort zone, to try something new that I might not be much good at. And maybe this is a blindingly obvious philosophy to everyone else. But Iâm grateful for the reminder.Â
where did you get your icon?
i made it myself on canva! they have a bunch of cool icons there
Schoolâs really overwhelmed me already, honestly, and itâs been negatively affecting my mental health, so Iâm gonna take a break on here for a while. Iâll probably return at some point, but thereâs no guarantee. Sorry yâall!
10 Things I Tell Myself When I Donât Want To Study
1. You are very lucky and privileged to have access to almost unlimited knowledge and you should appreciate that.
2. Be one of those rare people who step over their insecurities and succeed.
3. You will know what to do as soon as you start. Ideas never appear from inactivity.
4. Make yourself proud.
5. Itâs not supposed to be easy. Nothing good ever is.
6. One hour every day doesnât feel much but its 365 hours a year. You canât not succeed after so much work.
7. If you give up now, youâll have to return to this later anyway but from the very beginning.
8. Maybe you think you can never find something to use your skills and mindset for. But if you continue investing in what matters to you, it will find its way out there.
9. Every moment you thought your fears would suppress you has become the time you made it.Â
10. Make yourself proud.
Weâve been reading this in American Lit lately, itâs very interesting!

DUDE G2s ARE THE BOMB DOT COM! ALSO YASSS DEBATE LYFE (that was meant in a totally ironic way I promise). Anyways, what debate camp did you go to?
g2s are amazing honestly lmao. i went to sdi (spartan debate institute)!
Day 6 of the Back to School Challenge!
6. Do the handwriting tag! Write âthe quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogâ in lowercase, uppercase, and cursive.
As you can see, I finally got to the handwriting challenge. And as you can see, not only is my handwriting subpar, but I also did it smack dab in the middle of my lab notes (I didnât really need that space anyway, so itâs fine). ALSO, I canât cursive for the life of me.
New music!
Day 5 of the Back to School Challenge!
5. What is your favorite spot on your schoolâs campus?
Iâd have to say the schoolâs Online Learning Center. Iâve been going there to get the required amount of working sessions in for my online course (AP Psych) but generally itâs just a nice place for me personally to hang around in. There are very little people there when I work there, as the others who have a release hour tend to sit outside in the commons, and the seats are really comfy. I often just work on my online course while listening to music the entire time. Itâs a very chill spot to be in and probably one of my favorite parts of my day!
highkey didnât post all weekend ignore that
Day 4 of Back to School Challenge!
4. What are your stationary ride-or-dies?
Iâm not super into stationary, but I love all six of my Pilot G2 pens. I use them for debate, generally, and theyâre great--mostly because they donât smudge or anything, which is basically my only requirement for a good pen. I also have this cute pen my cousin gave me thatâs really thin and has musical notes on it! Otherwise, Iâm not super particular on what stationary I want, though a lot of stationary looks hella cute.

Day 3 of the Back to School Challenge!
I guess I already answered question three in my past post, but anyway...Iâve been trying to study my Spanish vocabulary more consistently through Lingvist. Maybe thatâll help yâall too, if youâre studying a foreign language!
Day 2 of Back to School Challenge!
2. Whatâs in your bag/backpack?
I have:
All my folders
My pouch, which has two/three mechanical pencils, seven pens (most of them are for debate shhh), a calculator, a highlighter, erasers, my schedule, a gay pin, lead for my mechanical pencils
My keys
My earbuds
Pads
Planner (which I,,,,donât use)
And thatâs about it!
