Happy Balannouncement Day!

(there's no new art, unexpected things happened, but I really do want to get new stuff out to you all soon, I miss drawing my maestro)

Six years ago, we were introduced to Balan Wonderworld. At a moment in history when it seemed like the world was falling apart around us, in the midst of the political strife and global pandemic of 2020, this game hit like a meteorite of hope and positivity. I still remember scrambling around twt in a frenzy trying to figure out where the screenshots of Naka and Ohshima standing together were coming from, frantically googling "Balan Wonderland" (yes really!) and finally finding the announcement trailer. Oh it was such a moment of excitement, seeing two of my favorite creators reunited for the first time since the Dreamcast era to bring us on a brand new adventure (one that reminded me suspiciously of NiGHTS into Dreams but I certainly wasn't the only one who made the connection, lol).

We all know how things ultimately panned out--suffice it to say, Balan Wonderworld didn't land well with the vast majority of the gaming community, but I can honestly say it's become one of my very favorite games, and will always hold a special place in my heart. An important and necessary venture through the human heart, to overcome trauma, restore balance, and find the true happiness that only comes after hard-fought tribulation. I'm glad we met, Balan <3

So I’ve been sitting on this comic idea for like half a year and I finally set down to draw it! Just like Balan has Gregory the giant Tim, Lance has a Negati companion who is a tiny, judgmental ball of hatred known as Lyre. She often sleeps in Lance’s collar and, unlike most of the other Negati, she absolutely seems to despise Balan and will yell at him any chance she gets.

I’ve also adopted the word Emoti as an umbrella term for Negati and Positi (Tims)!
