His dad, Samuel Harrington, is smart but dense; he misses a lot of social cues and sometimes has to be reminded to do basic functions like brushing his teeth or taking his socks off before stepping into the shower. He's bigger than Hop and crazy strong, but is the definition of a pushover when it comes to his family.

Now his mom, Penelope, is small and looks like a shy, demure housewife; she's a shark in human form. She's petty and a bit vindictive, but she has a soft spot for kids and (most of the time) her husband. Her best friend from high school, Wayne Munson, is the only person to insult her and not regret it (he uses that power to make sure she stays humble).

Steve's mom flushes his dad's heart medication if he doesn't speak to her with respect.

Steve's mom once put a body builder in the ICU because he called her baby boy a bastard child.

Steve's mom taught him how to knit and showered her only son in so much affection that in the one year she was traveling with his father, Steve was practically starved for affection.

Steve's mom offered to legally adopt Robin after the mall fire.

Steve's mom is the only lawyer/civilian to know what happened each time the Upside Down reared its ugly head.

Steve's mom arm has a standing Girl's Night with Wayne Munson (they watch football, drink, and gush over their teenage sons).

Steve's mom hugged Eddie when she was officially introduced to him and promised that she would treat him like a son for as long as he treated her baby right.

"I know him!" Eddie exclaims as he walks through the door of Benny's Burgers. "He comes to my house."

"Coach Benny comes to your house?!"

"Yeah," Eddie nods. "Uncle Wayne is his best friend, pretty sure."

"Woah."

Benny watches these two approach the register with a fond smile before greeting, "Howdy, boys. What can I go for ya?"

"Hi, Coach Benny," Steve says, looking up through his eyelashes like he does right before asking, "Can me and my friend have a job today?"

"He bites people," Steve adds as a warning, "But he won't bite no one here. He promises."

"I don't promise nothing," Eddie declares. "I’m a free spirit and sometimes the spirits say to bite."

Steve pauses.

He reiterates, "We'll be pro-fresh-a-nul and not bite people."

"I know you will, Steve," Benny says. "I got one job for ya but it's a doozy. You up for it?"

"We can do it!"

"I know, kid," Benny assures. He wishes this kid would just accept the free food instead of this song and dance. But alas, "It's a little gross. A couple troublemakers spread ketchup all over my table back there. You think you two can wipe that up?"

"Ew...I mean, yes," Steve nods. "Is that a hamburger job 'cause my weird friend wants a hamburger."

"With Cheese," Eddie adds.

"With Cheese," Steve repeats.

"Well, it is a pretty big job," Benny says. "I think it's a full meal job actually - burger and fries at least."

"And a milkshake too?"

"Yeah, we have to have a milkshake," Eddie chimes. "It's his birthday."

"Don't lie to Coach Benny."

"I’m not."

"It's not my birthday."

"His birthday is tomorrow."

"No, it's-!"

Benny laughs, "Well, regardless. I think I can scrounge up two non-birthday milkshakes for ya."

"Let me get ya'll some rags so you can get started and I'll get your lunch going so it's ready when you're done," He adds. "How's that sound?"

"Good," Eddie grins. "I’m going to lick the ketchup with my tongue."

"Ew, don't do that," Steve calls after him when Eddie darts off. He lingers for a second, "Thanks, Benny."

And Will is just, "Can we circle back to 'we all have a crush on Steve?'"

"Isn't that, I don't know, weird? He's practically Dustin's brother."

"Dustin had a crush on Nancy for years," Lucas says at the same time Max says, "We're just supposed to ignore Steve's ass and face because Dustin made a friend a couple years ago?"

Silence and then Lucas tilts his head towards Max because, "She has a point."

"It sounds like you have a crush on him too!"
