Hii some notes about Tamas that I'm gonna write down for theories and speculation.
- Tamas are, at least in some part, influenced by genetics. We know that based on Key inheriting his Tama from his mother.
- They are HEAVILY influenced by emotions. We mainly see it with Key, but we actually also see it with Milo- though his is, apparently, based on fear and nerves more than anything else. Not all of them seem to have reactions like that, but I wouldn't be shocked.
- They may not have been around very long. We know that they've been a thing for at least 300 years based on the finale, but the fact that they refer to Ssyelle blocking the ball with her face and hands 'old school', maybe Gorotama wasn't always played with Tamas? There really isn't enough information yet, it's just a weird thing I noticed.
- There are clearly laws in place around Tamas, based on the street game, but I wonder what they are and how strict they are. If they're used exclusively for Gorotama generally, what is the point of having the power? Like, why develop inherent powers for a sport, as a species.
- Does everyone have a Tama, and we just don't see everyone's since not everyone is a Gorotama player? Or is it something that you may or may not be born with, I wonder?
Adding to this, my first thought upon seeing the plot of the show was “You’re telling me all these people have these ultra powerful tamas that could potentially be lethal and cause mass destruction…. and they use it for??? sports????”
it does seem a bit odd to me. i have a theory (A FILM THEORY) that if tamas are really that old, people used to use them for chaos and crime and maybe gorotama was created as a way to channel them into something less destructive? but i’m not sure.
another question i have is if tamas are used for other disciplines like music, medicine, etc., or if their only use is in gorotama. i personally would LOVE to see a popstar with some sort of music/sound tama (that’s probs gonna be my oc tho)!
building on from this theory
I'm currently thinking gorotama as a sport was developed as a sort of ritual combat to settle arguments and limit the destruction tamas cause
Because it's very obviously a sport in which bodily harm isn't considered that big a deal (looking at you episode 1 ref) and much of the imagery is themed around honourable combat, particularly the knights' stadium
Perhaps the point of it was a splatoon type situation, where it was acknowledged that a trial had to be made, but war would be too costly
The only thing I can think of rn is (and this is only if not everyone has a tama) What if there's a kid out there who grew up amazed at gorotama and knows the game by heart and then just isn't able to play because they weren't born with a gorotama? How sad that would be :[....
You know what it sounds a lot like? Galactik Football!
If you didn't know Dragon Striker is animated by a French studio. I don't know if the writers are French or American but it's possible that this show might had some influence.
The basic lore is that there are many fluxes aka superpowers. Your flux mostly depends on your genes, species/home planet, on emotion, and you can learn other fluxes. It is implied that the fluxes could have been used for various purposes, including war and weapons production. Before the events of the show, there was some huge war that caused flux to be banned except for a game of galactik football, to bring people together.
