Well, full disclosure, Iâm still doing my best to learn all these things! Iâm not exactly the best teacher yet, still in student-mode.
But hereâs my thoughts on that. Letâs first examine things through the lens of the Trimurthi system. If youâll look to the diagram, youâll see that Mula is ruled by Brahma, signifying beginnings and new things and creation. Brahma-ruled nakshatras are drawn to build new things. And not only that, Mula is the very first nakshatra in the Sattva guna (Spiritual Stage).
Mula is leaving behind wealth, legacy, ancestry, materialism ect and having to learn how important it is to cultivate new beliefs/philosophies/moralities in themselves. Wealth and materialism wonât bring them fulfillment, so now they need to start to create new, philosophies/belief systems for their hearts to find fulfillment.
Uttara Bhadrapada is ruled by Vishnu in the Trimurthi system, the preserver god. Itâs about taking what Brahma has created and preserving, enjoying, maintaining, and celebrating it.
This is the second to last nakshatra in the Sattva guna before Shiva comes to bring dissolution, and transmutation. The final âstageâ of preservation in the Sattva portion of the nakshatra wheel.
Mula, being the first Brahma-ruled nakshatra in the Sattva cycle, is building new things related to philosophy/morality/spirituality/belief systems. And Uttara Bhadrapada, the last Vishnu-ruled nakshatra in the Sattva cycle, is preserving those things right before the final stage of dissolution in the Sattva cycle.
Through the lens of the deities:
Youâll have to forgive me for this, but Iâm still in the process of studying and organizing my notes on all the deities. Iâm definitely not 100% confident in my knowledge enough to speak much about it without putting my foot in my mouth, but Iâll try my best with what I know.
I havenât read as much about Ahirbudhyna as I could, Iâm still learning. It doesnât help that the sources/lore/tales for this one arenât as well-recorded as others. But it sounds like when you mention Ahirbudhynaâs desire for a foundation you might be referring to Sheshaâs relationship with Vishnu?
Shesha is basically the deity that Ahirbudhyna becomes in later stories. He is the great serpent mount of Vishnu. And he loves Vishnu very much because Vishnuâs divinity, calmness, abundance, and spirituality brings him peace and tranquility.
Without getting too deep into it, Shesha comes from a scary, deep, dark place. His brothers were cruel and evil, which disgusts Shesha who instead develops a great conviction to become spiritual. Sheshaâs spiritual conviction is so great that he is tasked by the gods multiple times with stabilizing things by holding them up with his cobra hood. First the earth, then later he becomes the mount of Vishnu himself, supporting him with his coils and using his hoods to offer shade. Vishnu, being so divine, shows Shesha a life of spiritual peace he could have never dreamed of with anyone else.
Uttara Bhadrapada is a nakshatra that understands foundations and systems of stabilization (such as wealth and family, especially found family) in context to how important they are to maintaining/practicing oneâs spirituality/convictions/personal beliefs.
The Vedic philosophy is one that understands the balance of things. Someone still needs to feed their body and engage in the material world even when theyâre practicing spirituality.
Mula is a nakshatra that is starting to learn that materialism wonât lead to fulfillment the way philosophy and beliefs will. But this doesnât mean every nakshatra that has themes of foundations, materialism, and wealth/abundance will learn those same lessons. Many people learn different lessons in context to similar themes. That is the case with Mula and Uttara Bhadrapada. Mula learns that a material foundation wonât necessarily lead to spiritual fulfillment and has to start building new internal beliefs. Uttara Bhadrapada learns the importance of foundations and support systems in sustaining spirituality and personal beliefs.
Thatâs my best understanding of things so far in my learning journey đ
I feel like Mula being ruled by Ketu and UBP being ruled by Saturn just reinforces all of that too, in context to things. Mula seeks to detach from the world/become spiritual (Ketu) in an effort to build a new (Brahma) path of personal beliefs (Sattva guna). UBP seeks to build a solid foundation (Saturn) in order to preserve (Vishnu) their ability to practice their spirituality/convictions/personal beliefs (Sattva guna).
