im an alicent supporter but other alicent supporters need to get some arguments other than 'she was a child bride' because who the fuck cares truly

I know it has been said before and probably better, but while I do think there's genuine criticism to be had with hotd, I feel like a lot of the criticism I see online stems from the fact that people fail to recognise that hotd is ultimately a tragic story. I feel like quite a lot of fans desire satisfaction through revenge fantasies or triumphant heroes, and hotd is just not the place for that. It never promised to be that story and, let's be honest here, neither did f&b. And frankly, it's starting be really annoying, because for the most part I enjoy the show! I enjoy what it is trying to do, although I do have some issues with the execution. And while I do think these issues deserve to be discussed, it's so endlessly tiring to see nothing but the same vile senseless arguments be re-heated again and again. And I know telling these people to just drop the show if it makes them so angry is pointless as well, because nothing sells online like rage does, and that seems to be all they are after after all.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: f&b is not good enough as a stand alone work of fiction to justify the glazing it gets online and it does feel like many of its die hard defenders are in it solely for the online attention and approval that hating hotd provides.
