I dunno what she’d want, though... Oh! Maybe, maybe I can paint her somethin’ cool! She’d like that, right? --And, and we gotta have a party, too! But it’s gotta be the best birthday party ever, ‘cuz... ‘cuz it’s Junko-oneechan, y’know? It’s gotta be perfect! We gotta have a cake, and... and some games, and-- and we gotta start decorating!!  ”

          “  Ooh! Then... Then that’s perfect, Nanako-chan! Huhu!! So all we gotta do is go to the store ‘n’ get everything, aaaand then we got our beach!  ”     He rummaged around in his various apron pockets as he spoke.     “ --I think I got a couple hundred yen to spend. D’you think that’ll be enough?  ”

          “  Uh-huh! Yeah! Maybe, maybe we could even sneak up on ‘em and scare ‘em like ghosts! Or, or maybe we can throw some worms at 'em and gross 'em out a lot!! That’ll show ‘em not to mess with us! ‘Cuz we’re kids, and we’re gonna get ‘em! And then none of ‘em will ever bother us ever, ever again!  ”     He’s walking so excitedly -- he can’t WAIT to scare some adults!!

          “  --Hey, uh...!  ”     the high schooler exclaimed, NERVOUSNESS evident in his voice.     “  Can you-- can you maybe not do that, please? I... I really don’t like being hugged 'n' stuff, so...  ”     He gave an uncomfortable smile. Maybe that would encourage her to let go...     “  --Also, I... I dunno what that is, but... I wan’t with Nagisa? I was workin’ on a project. A sculpture! So... Can you... maybe stop asking me questions, please...?  ”     He didn’t exactly appreciate those, either.

          “  Yeah, exactly! --Ooh! Maybe we can set up some stuff so it’s extra, extra beach-y, y'know? D’you know where we can get a pool and some sand?  ”     Hey, if they’re going to have a   ‘ beach day ’   inside, they’re going to do it right.
