you are the very reason why I ship sovikati and your art?? AMAZING! (I saw many of your arts in the CH fandom facebook! I love it so much) Can you like ramble to me how did this ship started for you?? Because I see the appealđ
oh my dear god yes. ok. long story short.
i was a major rusphil shipper, found rusphil art, saw sovikati together, thought they'd be good friends, started shipping sovikati as a joke (spoilers: it will turn into her whole fucking personality), started falling in love with the katipunan, made katipunan my fandom bicycle, will now never shut up about it. there's actually more to it than that but if i start talking about it i will never shut up for HOURS and i am very very awful at explaining stuff.
also HECK YEAH MORE SOVIKATI FAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS WOOHOOOOOOO đâźď¸â¤ď¸â¨

Winter Wonderland.
Ch. 1 - Ch.2- Ch.3 - Ch.4 - Ch.5
fandom: Countryhumans. pairing: Katipunan x USSR. summary: Aleksandr and Andres visit Aleksandr's old home and son. genre: Fluff, nostalgic past. warning(s): Slight mention of daddy issues. word count: 2,006 words. authors note: I was originally gonna make this have some flashback's to Soviet's past, but the last chapter was already so heavy with historical stuff and callbacks, I wanted this one to be lighter. Plus, this fic kinda ended up being from Kati's perspective so it wouldn't really fit. Also heavy reminder for this chapter that we have an unreliable narrator. Andres is Katipunan, Aleksandr is Soviet, Ivan is Russia. ao3 link.

Winter Wonderland.
Ch. 1 - Ch.2- Ch.3 - Ch.4 - Ch.5
fandom: Countryhumans. pairing: Katipunan x USSR. summary: Andres has recovered from his sickness and the pair take a small tour of some museums around Moscow, with Aleksandr being the helpful guide he is. genre: Fluff, historical documentary essentially, travels. warning(s): Mentions of war, WW2, violence, death, rape, and power imbalance. word count: 3,132 words. authors note: OKAY, warning, this will be a historically heavy chapter. This is a glorified history lesson, essentially. Sorry not sorry guys. In the comments of the post, I'm gonna go over the historical references and explain which ones are tainted by Soviet's propaganda view and such. Andres is Katipunan, Aleksandr is Soviet. ao3 link
Your family member has been abducted and replaced by an alien who is really bad at their job of pretending to be them. However, you donât complain because the alien is still a vast improvement over the original
sovikati alien au where sovi and kati exchange places and timelines (due to some alien stuff) and the soviet siblings get to experience what a good dad is meanwhile the philippine siblings get traumatized to hell and back
the fifteen soviet republics have been given an incompetent leader and the best father ever
the philippines have been unionized, the elites plan to assassinate soviet heneral luna-style
they develop their own officially unofficial committees: the lolo committee of officials who needs to work to keep the ussr from collapsing. they translate kati's sensible but so painfully simple decisions for the state into professional dossiersâthey see kati as an eccentric old grandfather, they know he means well but jesus christ he was a college dropout. the puti social circle has a singular, noble goal and it's to make sure sovi's personality won't make him a social pariah and ensure that the elites won't try eliminate him for the status quo he's trying to set
kati is a filipino, small, brown, constantly drowsy because of the cold: he gains the nickname general mishka
sovi is nicknamed supremo puti because he's white
sovi is humbled, kati gets a taste of true global power for the first time
the cold war of the 20th century doesn't happen because kati is personally offended by the thought of proxy fights, he'll storm america's office and settle this mano y mano
it's a hallmark movie of 1970s soviet humbled by the people of 1800s philippines. it's a gritty movie of 1890s katipunan worn down and weathered by the global politics of the 20th century
sovi develops the habit of siestas and he hates it
kati once fell asleep on the forest floor in some random village in siberia, the locals are concerned and they wonder how he got the bear cubs to snuggle with him
the locals all know that once sovi declares he'll take "just a five minute retreat/recess," they won't find him till a good few hours later, snoring in some random part of the provinceâthey can never find him with ease which is weird because he's a living beacon of white against the earthy tones of the tropic.
the cold war between america and soviet is instead the "hot war of the 19th century" because they fight in the tropics right after the treaty of parisâthey do end up fistfighting in the beach before sharing a coconut under a coconut tree
the ussr is significantly smaller but it has less war crimes/human rights violations to its name.
the philippines is a bit more authoritarian but at least it now has the spine it needs to overcome fractions and regionalization
i want you to imagine the picture of katipunan in the middle of winter, shivering with a perpetual frown on his face as he prays to god he won't catch another cold, covered in all the layers in the world that he looks like a ball of wool.
and now i want you to imagine soviet sweating buckets under a thin camisa de chino that is sizes too small for him, his face is cemented in a lazy frown as he wills against the heat and the constant complaints of the titas who provide him with intel via gossip. his personal enemy is the sun and that one rooster who keeps trespassing on his bedroom.
kati now calls the 15 soviet republics his children. the philippine brothers are trying their best to adopt sovi
kati's first week in moscow was filled with: "what do you mean world war two, was there a first world war?!" "this is hell, a cold, gloomy hell, get me out of here." "who the fuck bans religion, are you alright in the head?!"
at the end of the day, they both get very very homesick

ok, so first off, katiperla first started falling in love with each other in a friends-to-lovers kind of way.
perla was a lonely child, although she was cheery and sociable in her own right, the philippines was still very much a lonely country off in southeast asia with all of her international relations strictly monitored by spain, during the majority of its time, broken only after the galleon trade was dismantledâand perla, being las islas' main representative, reflected this. like her son, phil, she's a very performative person who acts for the benefit of her country.
kati was the very first genuine bond perla experienced without any strings attached. nueva espaĂąa was her caretaker and although they both were very fond of each other, they couldn't go beyond whatever relationship they had because of their own personal issues and due to the weight of their own separate obligations/responsibilities (and i think it's important to note that i stll have SO MUCH research to do regarding mexican/general latam history so this is also pretty tentative). perla also wasn't close with her neighboring countries, nor her fellow spanish colonies. she's friends with everyone but not everyone is her friend. do i make sense? there's china but he's like some weird distant relative.
kati provided perla with the unadulterated companionship she'd been yearning for her entire life. a friendship that isn't built on whether or not they could benefit each other, but simply enjoying each other's company and falling in love with all the ways they make each other feel seen and protected.
kati was perla's break in her pretty little shit show of a life.
aside from that, kati quite literally existed for perla. and perla was the reason kati survived.
there wasn't a fixed point where they "fell in love," because they keep "falling in love." every waking moment, every second, every day, every minute, they fall in love with each other when they're happy, when they're sad, even when they fight or disagree with each other, they love the fire in each other's eyes and the way they never leave after all the screaming and the shouting.
they keep falling in love with the way they better each other. perla fell in love with the way kati helped her be more accepting of her freedom, and kati fell in love with the way perla helped her be more determined and unwavering in his fight.
kati fell in love with the way perla was willing to lay herself bare for kati, and perla fell in love with the way kati was wiling to be soft and vulnerable with perla.
kati was also a lonely kid, he shouldered the responsibility of leading the birth of a revolution, his responsibilities already weighed heavy on his shoulders before he could properly wield a bolo. perla was the reason he could keep going, she is who reminded him of what exactly it is he was fighting for.
and of course, this love led to kati sweeping perla off his feet. they eloped. she gave birth to three beautiful children. and then they got found. perla was sent to europe while phil was taken to some heavily guarded manor in baguio or something, like some damsel in distress. kati was taken and tortured. america came to "help." kati died. perla grieved in europe. the rest is history.

"If you learned of the truth, Andres," he'd said, tone grave, voice softer than Andres had ever heard of Aleksandr. "Would you leave?"
Andres took a moment to respond, utterly taken aback. Not because of the question, but the way Aleksandr had asked him. His breath reeked of alcohol, his lips curved into a soft smile, and his eyesâgrey like steel, frost clinging at the edges of his irisesâthey looked... warm. It was disarming.
"No," Andres answered. "We all have our ghosts, Sandro. You have yours, and I'm no saint myself."Â
He gives Aleksandr a smile of his own, wider, brighter, lips just as stained with liquor.
"I don't know... exactly what kind of ghosts they are. But if its weight still drags you down, then you're not as awful of a man as you might think. People who are truly, irredeemably cruel are those whose conscience have gone quiet."
Aleksandr takes a swig of his drink, slamming the cup on the table.
"And I can hear yours screaming from over here, pare."Â
Andres took a swig of his own, chasing it down with nothing but water. And Aleksandr feels envy crawling in his guts at the way Andres looks so free. His sins are to his own and his country, Aleksandr's are to the world.Â
Andres could never comprehend the sheer scale of his faults, he knows this. But it stil feels nice to be absolved of sins the priest knows nothing about.
