Which insect or flower best suits each Twisted Wonderland character?

I want to draw little fairies and would like ideas for flowers or insects—or both—to use as inspiration.

Plays dead when threatened

only comes out at night/dusk

prefers dark dry environments

17 year max lifespan so basically a demigod in bug years

has ‘wings’ (elytra) but can’t fly because the same blue wax shell protecting him prevents him from doing so

it is STRUCTURALLY BLUE guys it has grooves that catch light making it look blue… its KNOWN for its holographic look

lives its entire life underground untill teen/adulthood

Smaller than the blue death feigning beetle and has a shorter lifespan (1 year max)

But it is a scarab meaning it can fly because its elytra are free

The Festive Tiger Beetle (Cicindela scutellaris)

The Tiger beetle is known as one of the most beautiful beetles (plus the Savanaclaw reference)

specifically can come in purple but wears a variety of colors

scientists thought this was speciation but NO it’s camouflage for hunting

They are arguably the best hunters in the beetle world with insane vision and speeds reaching 5mph (for a human that would be supersonic speed)

Guys he literally has one on his fairy gala suit

It’s golden appearance is an optical illusion from microfibers catching the sun (just like his optimism- oops who said thattt)

they weave silk when young to attach themselves to leaves but a lot less than commercial silk worms

I think the Asim’s probably are mostly silk moths and that his lack of silk production despite being heir could explain a LOTTT of the assassins

Wingstem, the plant they feed on, needs large amounts of freshwater to grow

hypothetically with Oasis maker he could tend to them (LITTLE BUG KALIM GARDENING MY HEARTTTT)

When threatened they do their best to mimic sawflies to ward off predators but have no natural defense mechanism
