Misty Day—

Synopsis—

Misty was born into a strictly religious, orthodox cult -- or at least, she assumes she was, because that’s all she remembers. She was always strange even by their sheltered and isolated standards, though, and they were all too eager to burn her as a witch when her powers first manifested. She has the natural ability to resurrect the recently deceased, including herself. When she was revived, she fled to the bayous outside of New Orleans and built herself a refuge there. Only when she met the witches in training at Miss Robichaux's Academy did she find a family she could belong to again.

Powers—

Resurgence: This is Misty’s natural gift, and as a matter of fact, it almost uses her body as a vehicle to resurrect whoever she encounters. It’s less of a decision and more of a compulsion. She does faint when she uses it, though, as it requires a lot of her energy.

Herbal Magic: Misty has a knack for magically interacting with plants, making them grow or flower or pollinate. She delights in this, since gardening is one of her passions. She can also brew a special mud-based salve that heals even mortal wounds.

Protection Spells: Misty naturally developed her own protection spells from “white spirit’s light.”

Witchcraft: Misty has acquired some of the trained skills taught at Miss Robichaux’s Academy, including telekinesis, mind control, teleportation, and divination. She only has a minimal understanding of these magics though, and seldom practices them.

Weaknesses—

Isolation: Misty thrives on social interaction, and being alone for extended periods of time takes a toll on her mental health, to the point where she becomes delusional.

Magic: Magic can be fought with magic, and while Misty is good at protecting herself, she is not as good at launching an offense against a magical opponent.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: Misty may succumb to flashbacks of childhood incidents or of being burned to death by the cult she spent most of her life with.

Full History Below—

The circumstances of Misty’s birth are unknown, but she spent her childhood with a strictly religious, orthodox cult. The leader of the cult was treated as her father, like all the other children, and they were all raised by the man’s wives, whom she called her Aunties. She wondered as a child, and continues to as an adult, which, if any, of those women were her real mother.

The cult had very stringent rules for children and harsh punishments for breaking them. Because she has no perspective on the matter, however, Misty would not say she was abused. She always did stand out as unusual, though, even in their sheltered and isolated community. She was an outcast with no friends, and even the man she called her Daddy rarely spoke to her.

When Misty’s power of Resurgence first manifested as she resurrected a dead bird, one of the Aunties witnessed the deed and immediately declared her a witch. The cult was quick to turn on her, many claiming they had always known something was “wrong” with her. Within hours, they had her tied to a post and burned alive.

Misty’s power of Resurgence manifested a second time by bringing her back to life from her first death. When she was revived, hours after her body had been abandoned for burial the next day, she fled into the swamps. She made her way deep into the bayous outside of New Orleans, where she built herself a refuge. Only her garden and the wildlife kept her company there for many months, and she lived off of the boombox playing Stevie Nicks songs in her shack.

Misty longed for a sense of belonging she had never felt with her “family,” and when she first met Zoe Benson in need of help, she eagerly rose to the challenge. She helped Zoe and Madison Montgomery restore Kyle Spencer after they failed to revive him from death. Her new friends did not repay her well and instead abandoned her when they retrieved Kyle.

Some time later, Misty came upon the body of Myrtle Snow, who had been burned to death herself for a transgression against the Salem descendants’ coven. She took Myrtle back to her home and revived her using Resurgence and mud-based salves. When Myrtle brings her back to the coven, she agrees to help resurrect Madison Montgomery against her better judgment, but she declines the offer to stay at the Academy because of the bad vibes there.

Soon after, though, she realizes that someone is hunting her and returns to Miss Robichaux’s for sanctuary. Myrtle Snow declares that she will be the next Supreme, and Misty agrees to start training there. She enjoys learning with Cordelia Foxx very much and manages to bond with the other girls.

She meets her idol, Stevie Nicks, who turns out to also be a witch. Her life is epitomized by this encounter, and she devotes herself to practices of white magic for life.
