On regularly scheduled intervals, this elevator will to take us to the top - the little specks of city buildings sit far below us, lighting up the sky in a sickly orange glow. We are now at the top. There is no turning back now

i remember that old quaint port village, back in my youth - before the times it was so quickly industrialized. i can still feel the old air in my lungs. i know history requires us all to make sacrifices, but at what cost?

it was a strange sort of half-light - half day, half night. the downed branches were so full of thorns i couldn’t see anything. jagged creatures emerging from every orifice of the branch like a parasite. sometimes i thought i saw faces in the hollow trunks that towered above me. yet i felt strangely compelled to continue in spite of all of this...

in these towns i felt their strangeness swirl around me, a troubled but oddly comforting cry that was equally sorrowful and joyous. i moved further down the hill to see creatures assembling, ready to greet the certain death which awaited them...

i half expected to find myself teetering over the edge of that triumphant megastructure. from atop the sky seemed to meet it and merge through and around it as if it were all part of the same bizarre organism. a twinge of excitement began to creep in with my fear.
