For The Love Of Music.

recommendation | the seven ep by Emily King

This EP has been on heavy, heavy rotation for me for the last two weeks and I strongly suggest to anyone who is an R&B/Soul fan to check this out. I've heard of Emily King before, probably about five years or so ago. I wasn't the biggest fan of her debut album, but I always loved her voice. This right here, blows her debut out of the water. It is called the Seven Ep because it in fact has seven songs and none of them dissapoint. There are a few standouts such as Down and especially my two favorites No More Room and Every Part but all in all, all seven songs flow together quite nicely. Her voice, her presence.. everything is amazing. Such a lovely EP.

When I first heard of Pete Yorn I was probably around eleven years old. It was in an article in YM magazine (that doesn't date me at all. I was a kid who grew up in the 90's okay?) It seemed alot of people were taken with a song called Just Another. Apparently Dawson's Creek was involved somehow and it was a big deal. 

Several years later, when I was sixteen I realized what all the fuss was about. I can't remember what song I heard first, it was either Sleep Better, Just Another, or On Your Side. I have trouble remembering because every one of those are my favorites. But whichever one it was, I know I fell in love instantly.

Since then I have become an avid Yorn fan, but of all the albums that have come since MFTMA, his debut has been the one to resignate with me the most. The songs on this album are a mix of bittersweet romance, reflection, and the ongoing journey of becoming/being a young adult. 

I don't really think I can put into words how this album has affected me. I'm not sure what adjectives I could use to describe, because only sound could do this justice. 

Hello. 

I started this blog a little over a month ago and have posted a few things but I've never taken the time to introduce myself to my followers. My name is Chantel, I'm a twenty two year old avid music listener. I initially started this blog as a way of possibly getting myself into the music scene, seeing as one day I'd like to be a part of it (though not sure how yet) But now it's become more about introducing people to artists/genre's that they might not have been introduced to otherwise. 

The bottom line is: I love music and I think it's pretty cool to share. So that's what I'm going to do. On a more personal level it's a way for me to express my thanks/appreciation for certain artists/songs/albums that have meant something to me or just plain made me feel good. 

In saying that, something I wanted to start doing was Album Reviews/Album Appreciation.

Album Reviews: Most likely these are going to be of newer albums that will be coming out or just have come out. But will also include albums that I have listened to for the first time but aren't necessarily current

Album Appreciation: These won't be reviews, but more of a dedication type post. Albums that have really struck a chord with me. Including any good stories that might go along with a particular album/artist.

Lifechangers: This will mostly fall under Album Appreciation but this is a special tag for albums that have essentially "changed my life" after hearing them:

"I have a list of albums that have been essential in shaping me as a person, “life changers” I guess you could call them. When after hearing it, you’re just different - not even the same person, and a little piece of the album has evolved you somehow."

That basically sums it up. 

I'll also be posting any videos/articles that I may find interesting and submissions are always welcome. So, that's all for now. All in all I just hope you enjoy this blog.
