So, wyrm ribs huh, that's crazy
But you know what's crazier? Teeth
You may have noticed this unasuming object in the area (not the hopper, behind it)
Was is it? A stalagmite? Some weird rock? A claw?
While file names are often not useful (old names, scrapped concepts, some herrah stuff is still called hegemol in the files) in this case it is clearly the intention through and throughout
But why are they all over the place, on random rocks and far away from the mouth? Why some are thicker but shorter and called "stumps"? Why there's a couple smaller ones in the maw behind the "crown" instead of inside the throat like the big majority?
Well, have you seen shark (or elephant) teeth?
(PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT ON LIVE TIME, THIS IS NOT PORTRAYING A BURROWING BEHAVIOR, THIS IS PORTRAYING A TOOTH REPLACEMENT CYCLE)
My theory is that the wyrm in its burrowing wears down its teeth until they fall off, at which point they're replaced by new ones, like a shark
Think of it like a conveyor belt of sharp rock-shattering teeth
Some of them may also snap prematurely against particularly hard rocks
Another thing I noticed is that there are different areas within the mouth
This could either be the difference between throat and stomach, or more interestingly, difference between the gum where the teeth start to grow back and the rest of the digestive track
Side note but really like how the king design references the wyrm in ways other than the crown (the cloak part is likely not literal though)
Edit: forgot to add, I also considered the possibility of the teeth growing inwards instead, but the ones inside the mouth are all "young", while the completely worn out "stump" ones are scattered around
