Kandri completes my trio of X-Men OCs!
Kandri Saurcas is Maliha and Matthias' uncle, and a former 60s/70s era rockstar by the name of Evergreen. At 62 years old, Kandri is legally blind due to a progressive condition in his eyes. His vision was better when he was young, but it has reduced to a blurry pin hole over the years. So he has a white cane, and he has a guide dog, a German shepherd named Regi.
Kandri's powerset is a connection and control over plant life. With the root systems around him, he can sort of 'see' again, but it's more like sonar. It gives him an awareness of the layout and basic location of people and objects, but not any visual detail.
Kandri does not need to be in their drake form to use their plant related powers. In fact, Kandri has avoided shifting in decades. Unlike their family, Kandri is prone to more feral behaviours when in his drake form. That, plus one night he got high in '88, lead to a string of Lizard Man sightings in South Carolina xD
Because of his blindness, Kandri isn't a front-line X-Man. He wouldn't consider himself one anyway, despite using the school's gardens as a defence system when the mansion is attacked. He's the music teacher now. But the students coined the hero name Terrador (I loved the Legend of Spyro, sue me xD)
Kandri is the person who went wild in their youth because of their condition. But after retiring from music, Kandri has found himself wishing he had put down roots sooner, wished he had taken up Charles' offer when he could do something to make a difference. But he's finally learned the importance of belonging over unrestrained freedom.
(He/They used interchangeably because I imagine they're in a similar boat to Morph in that He/Him would have been used in an early series and then He/They in later iterations)
