Our favorite tech fairy!

I didn’t like the Winx club reboot so here’s how I would do it, PT. 2

Throughout the series we mostly only get glimpses and small arcs of her character, and my goal in these redesigns is to flesh out and give more depth to all of our favorite fairies, witches, and warriors while still mostly keeping with the original show lore we all know and grew up with. Basically, creating a story that has now grown up with its audience! So let’s look into Tecna’s character!

Tecna, fairy of technology. (She/they)

Storyline, Character development, and S/O

I think our girl would be Demisexual and demiromantic, after all, “it’s not logical to fall in love with someone you don’t know well!” And maybe even use She/They pronouns.

There’s different resources that tend to change on whether or not Tecna is actually a royal/princess (Including an episode where they claim to be but it’s never mentioned again) so for this plot line I’m going to say that they aren’t a princess but rather are distantly related to royal family— enough to get invited to some events but not near enough to take over the throne without a SLEW of tragedies. They also have a little brother! (Mentioned ONCE in a coloring book apparently but never again. The girls need more siblings!)

For her arc, in series I feel like we only get bits and breadcrumbs for her here and there, SO I’m thinking… We see at the beginning of the series how much she relies on logic, data, statistics, they’re the most important things to her! Enough that she actually struggles with understanding and processing her own emotions (dare I say, autism coded) and also trying to understand the emotions of others. Being in the Winx slowly teaches and gives them that outlet to slowly learn how to understand people on an emotional level (to an extent, part of them always struggles) but also gives her a group of friends who understand her and work well with how she is. Helping them to process emotions they might not fully comprehend. They show their appreciation to their friends in ways of listening to want they want and maybe what they complain about, offering logical solutions or little practical gifts to show that she cares.

Also where I think a friends to lovers arc with Timmy is important! (I’m debating on making Timmy either Masc nonbinary or Transmasc!) Timmy also is a logical and nerdy guy, I think giving their friendship more time to develop would help us to actually be more attached to them as a couple and as characters. They first become friends because they are fellow nerds that love technology, video games, inventing, mechanics, anything with a complex engine! To the point that if things like the hovercraft or hoverbikes in Red Fountain need fixing beyond a simple tune-up, they get brought to Timmy and Tecna! It’s like a fun puzzle for them! Then as their friendship develops, Tecna starts becoming more vulnerable with Timmy, going to him with scenarios, emotions, and problems she’s having trouble wrapping her head around. She starts spending more and more time with him and even regularly plans out gaming times with him.

All of which would hurt more in her arch of having to give up the emotions they’ve developed and worked through in order to get the “water stars” to defeat Valtor in season 3 (I’m of the opinion we should give maybe 2 or 3 of the fairies and their S/Os the spotlight each season to have a chance at an over arching plot and some major character development. As well as smaller arcs for the rest of the group that might not get as much spotlight. Even though Bloom is kinda technically the main “protagonist”)

Season 1: Bloom and Stella with their S/Os

S2: Aisha/Layla (with the iconic Dark Bloom, I CANNOT take that away but maybe it can be more of a convenient side plot)

I’m still workshopping some of that on plot, I want each fairy to get the spotlight eventually, especially because the series tends to be very Bloom and Stella heavy.

Appearance, style, and magic

She has a shaved side that I think Musa or Stella would eventually persuade her to shave some extra designs into around her hearing aids that she ends up loving

At the start of the story I wanted to keep some of the whimsical fairy brightness that is iconic to the Winx club but still have elements of a cyberpunk aesthetic and maybe she starts to lean more heavily into cyberpunk or even cyber goth when she gets her Enchantix and Believix. For their Charmix upgrade I thought a couple iron-man esc pieces would be cool, where they get a sort of hologram mask that gives them active feedback while the armor pieces give them a boost. Maybe even amplifying her hearing aids where she can hear just as well or better than Musa’s sharp ears. Even able to pick up heartbeats and movement from distances

THE EMPEROR. 〝 everything is under your control 〞 let's talk structure, control, and main character energy! what is something in your daily routine you have control of? what do you eat in a day? where do you decide to go between classes? do you have your own room, dorm, or private space? what does it look like?

THE HIEROPHANT. 〝 tradition and convention. 〞 write a journal entry from a day in one of your drs that has some sort of tradition. e.g. hogwarts: the triwizard tournament, christmas dinner, the yule ball, etc.

THE LOVERS. 〝 love and being in sync with someone special. 〞 i think this one's kinda obvious.. anything about your significant other! a collection of love letters/text messages between you and your s/o, a moodboard, a playlist, tell us how you met, etc.

THE CHARIOT. 〝 moving forward in a positive direction. 〞 tell us about a journey in your dr! how was your first ever train ride to a certain magical school? do you want to go on a roadtrip sometime? how about a world tour?

STRENGTH. 〝 triumphant conclusion to a major life problem. 〞 you’ve overcome something in your desired reality - what was it? simply tell us about, or make a playlist or moodboard about your strength arc! was it a moment of bravery, emotional healing, or standing up for yourself? did you win a battle, mend a broken friendship, or finally face your fears?

THE HERMIT. 〝 gain a greater understanding of oneself. 〞 who is someone in your dr who knows you better than yourself? they could be a significant other, a friend, a family member, or even a pet! what about your fandom or the press? is there a paparazzi story you wanna share?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE. 〝 fate, destiny, and unexpected change. 〞 create your own personal wheel of fortune. what symbols, people, or places would appear on it that represent luck in your dr?

WEEK THREE. ( XI XII XIII XIV XV )

JUSTICE. 〝 fairness, truth, and taking accountability. 〞 let's play truth or truth! (you're welcome to answer each question with a dr - or drs - of your choice, you don't need to answer for one specific dr) i. do you think you're a good person in your dr? why or why not? ii. is there a 'bad guy' in your dr who you secretly understand too well? iii. what are you shifting to your dr for? fame? love? money? drama? or just the experience? iv. what's the most controversial thing you've done/will do in your dr?.. come on... we won't judge v. what's your juiciest secret in your dr?

THE HANGED MAN. 〝 the importance of gaining new perspectives in our own lives. 〞 create a moodboard of how you look in the eyes of someone important in your dr. e.g. your s/o, friend(s), kids, parents, pet, teachers, etc.

DEATH. 〝 typically implies an end. 〞 tell us about an ex partner or ex friend in your dr. who are they? how did you meet? why didn't things work out?

TEMPERANCE. 〝 balance, healing, and harmony 〞 create your dr care kit! design a care package full of things that help you feel balanced in your dr items can be something in your cr (like candles, crystals, tea blends) or dr-specific (like a potion your best friend brews, or a custom playlist from your s/o).

THE DEVIL. 〝 temptation, indulgence, and desire. 〞 host your dr vice party! you're throwing an invite-only after hours party... what kind of chaos ensues? who's on the guest list? who's not on the guest list? what's your vice? are you drinking expensive wine, wearing something dramatic, sneaking off to gossip? you could add a playlist that matches the vibe, write a fake magazine article or paparazzi coverage of the night, or describe what happens when the party starts to spiral (affairs? arguments? unexpected truths?).

WEEK FOUR. ( XVI XVII XVIII XIX XX XXI )

THE TOWER. 〝 sudden unforseen change. 〞 create two moodboards of before and after a change in your dr. it could be a relationship, fame, friendship, etc.

THE STAR. 〝 optimism, hope, and renewal. 〞 tell us about one of your favourite scenarios you've scripted that you’re excited to experience! is it something simple like a hang out with your friend? or something massive like your wedding day?

THE MOON. 〝 illusion, mystery, and the subconscious. 〞 create a mysterious letter or message your dr self receives. it could be from the universe, a loved one, future-you, or anonymous! and what is your reaction?

THE SUN. 〝 representative of the universe coming together and agreeing with your path. 〞 create a highlight reel of your dr! pick 3+ 'scenes' that show your dr self at your happiest, and describe them in short bursts, moodboard them, edit them, or even make them look like instagram highlights.

JUDGEMENT. 〝 reflection, evolution, and recognition. 〞 your reality yearbook! hand out yearbook-style superlatives of yourself and others in your dr. bonus: include mini yearbook quotes for each person :)

THE WORLD. 〝 a cycle of life. 〞 create a dr 'season finale' post. how would your journey wrap up (for now)? imagine your dr as a tv show, film, or book - how does this chapter end? write a closing scene, make a mini trailer, a moodboard of your life, draft your dr's 'credits' (cast list, soundtrack, etc), who would've written your screenplay? tim burton, sofia coppola?
