For me, Pride has never just been about rainbow flags.

It's about refusing to disappear.

As an intersex and trans woman, I've spent much of my sporting life navigating spaces that often felt designed to exclude me. That's one of the reasons I founded Arcane Cycling Team.

On 20 June we're proud to be joining Gay Cycling Club for a community Pride Cycle across Dublin, raising funds for Outhouse and celebrating something beautifully simple: people riding together.

No gatekeeping.

No purity tests.

No endless debates about who belongs.

Just bicycles, community and solidarity.

Arcane Cycling Team is delighted to support and participate in this year's Pre-Pride Cycle alongside the Gay Cycling Club and Outhouse LGBTQ+ Centre.

Join us on Saturday 20 June for a relaxed cycle from Raheny to Phoenix Park, followed by lunch and community time at Outhouse.

Cycling can sometimes feel inaccessible or intimidating. Events like this remind us that bikes can also be about friendship, visibility, inclusion, and joy.

Simply Sorcha is not just a website.

It is a space where cycling, intimacy, feminism, nightlife, politics, intersex visibility, queer life, and modern Ireland collide.

Writing. Companion experiences. Activism. Vintage cycling culture. Personal storytelling. Public life.

Some people arrive through politics. Others through attraction, curiosity, aesthetics, or connection.

A handful of activists.

No visible democratic mandate.

No published governance.

No financial transparency.

Yet they are treated as a legitimate authority on trans lives, schools, libraries, and safeguarding.

Gript is imploding in public.

The question is not whether the organisation survives its latest crisis.

The question is why so much of Irish media and politics spent years normalising a platform that built audiences through anti-trans panic, anti-migrant rhetoric and culture war outrage.

My article examines the role of Niamh Uí Bhriain, one of the most prominent figures associated with that movement, and the political project Gript helped build.

A 2019 survey found that 50% of elite athletes used hormonal contraception.

Yet contraception remains one of the least discussed topics in sport.

Hormonal contraception can affect training, recovery, menstrual health, bone density, and performance. Athletes deserve evidence-based information, not myths, stigma, or silence.

There was no language for people like me when I was growing up in Irish sport. No visibility. No roadmap. No conversation about intersex bodies, autonomy, or survival.

Just silence, performance, pressure, and the feeling that something about you had to remain hidden in order to belong.

Years later, I still think about what sport gave me, what it took from me, and what it means to speak openly now in a world that is once again trying to police bodies it does not understand.

This piece is reflective, personal, political, and rooted in lived experience.

Who funds Ireland’s anti-trans movement? How are these organisations structured? And why are corporate and lobbying questions so rarely discussed in mainstream coverage?

In this article, I look at The Countess, corporate structures, political influence, and the wider ecosystem of Ireland’s emerging anti-trans movement.

This is not just about one organisation. It is about the growth of a socially conservative network that presents itself as reasonable, grassroots, and protective while targeting trans people, bodily autonomy, and wider feminist and LGBTQIA+ progress.
