don't give in! ❤

it’s been a while! while i’ll probably never be super active on this blog, i’ve decided to change a few things that’ll hopefully have me showing up here more often - specifically, i’m making this blog a fandomless portrayal of tsubakiko. i’m basically taking her out of the context and world of iwaihime and treating her as if she was an oc, and while her backstory and personality will be basically the same as her canon counterpart, it should give me more room to play around and feel more comfortable writing her in general.

   “      of course it is!! ” how could it NOT be?! it’s not like she just wiggled her ears or something totally useless like that- she was AWESOME!! …so what was she acting so weird for? if it had been Ohta (as in: if he could fight without also getting his own butt kicked in the process) he would be bragging about that and beating everybody down any chance he got!!

   but he wasn’t… and he might have found the time to be a little bit jealous too if he wasn’t so busy trying to pick her brain. “       so you’ll tell me then? better yet- why don’t you just show me what you can do?! just like with those guys! ” 

   he was more sturdy than he looked- he could be tossed around a little bit NO problem!

“W-well...”

Things are just getting worse and worse. How can Tsubakiko take control of the conversation!?

“I mean, I mostly taught myself...” She’d been strong ever since she was a kid, but she remembers passionately studying and practicing too, learning how to fight both with weapons and her bare hands. She’d started just as she entered her teens, and while there were a lot of failures along the way... somehow or another, she ended up where she is today.

It’s almost nostalgic, thinking about it. It makes her a little happy. But then Tsubakiko quickly shuts her traitorous mind up and quickly adds-

Hello! Are you interested in the sound of a cutesy young girl who’s always full of energy and cheer? A girl who used to be an infamous and feared gang member, leader of the Bloodstained Angel’s attack squad, who beat up scumbags twice her size on the regular? ...Wait, what? Don’t say that, that’s so embarrassing!!

     “       embarrassed?! ” what for?! tons of people would KILL (using the word ironically because 1 she just murdered those guys pride and 2 anyone who would kill to be able to fight obviously couldn’t fight already which meant killing wouldn’t be easy for them) to be able to do what she just did! n-not him though… because he already could, of course! 

     In fact, he could probably- no… definitely- take her on too. but there wasn’t any need for that because she wasn’t bothering him yet. and he just still didn’t FEEL like fighting… and all that stuff… 

   “       where’d you learn how to do that?! “ maybe he was asking the WRONG question- no he was definitely asking the wrong question…

“Huh? Aha, ahahaha...”

Laughing awkwardly, her voice high-pitched and obviously forced, Tsubakiko rubs the back of her head sheepishly. Oh, no... how did she even get herself into this situation!?

“That’s not really important, is it?”  she avoids the question, her eyes darting back and forth as her cheeks become somewhat red. She’s certainly not going to tell him that she used to be the leader of a gang’s attack squad - no way!! She wants to forget those times completely!

Then, all of a sudden, she sighs, looking dejected.

   Ohta wasn’t the type of guy that got involved in fights unnecessarily (which usually meant fights that he couldn’t see himself winning, or that he just didn’t see himself gaining anything from and both of those would apply to that fight) so when he saw some problems being IRONED out on the street, he just wanted to sneak by and go on his way. but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have a LOOK on the way-  but that was when he stopped.

  it was a pretty surprising scene that had an unexpected ending. Ohta stayed where he was, still SPEECHLESS for several extended seconds even after the fight was over. he didn’t seem to snap back to reality until he was called back to it. “      how’d you do that?! “ he pretty much SAW how, but he still couldn’t believe it. 

    “       that was so cool! “ 

“...Eh? Huh?”

Caught completely off-guard, Tsubakiko finds herself suddenly flustered by the unexpected praise. Cool? Her? No way... She’d basically just completely lost her shit and attacked in a rage - and even if her victims were bullies, that’s no excuse for taking it as far as she did... How does she still have this little self-control? Can she not take an insult at all without losing it? How embarrassing...

So Tsubakiko doesn’t understand why Ohta would find her cool at all. Still, to be complimented like that out of the blue... it makes her a little happy.

‘ Don’t be happy, Tsubakiko! ’ she scolds herself. Beating people up isn’t something she should be proud about!!

“D-death?”

Tsubakiko feels her blood run cold at Mathilde’s sudden pronouncement. What does she mean, death? She has to be dreaming - she knows that, because there’s no way that a bird could be talking to her in real life - but even so, Tsubakiko feels a slither of fear begin to curl around her; and feels her hands begin to shake.

“I don’t want to be at a place like that...”

“Ahhh, I did it again... I lost it...”

Tsubakiko mutters to herself dejectedly, lost in a cloud of despair. But it’s not like she could’ve just left it alone! That poor kid was getting picked on, and when she tried to step in, well... she might’ve lost her temper just a bit. After getting insulted like that, who wouldn’t have? Now, the three bullies that Tsuabakiko just beat up have ran away with bruised and battered faces, and Tsubakiko’s left with nothing but her shame.

She’s so lost in despair that she doesn’t notice that she’s being watched by someone from behind. So when she turns around, frustrated tears in her eyes, her eyes widen as she realizes that that someone saw everything she just did.

“Huh? You’re...”
