I grew up with A Series of Unfortunate Events, but ever since I first read the series, the ending has always felt a bit...unsatisfying. Today, after watching the recent (and utterly fantastic) Netflix adaptation, I dive into the series to try and find why the ending has left me feeling so let down for years. And, spoilers, it's not because of the unresolved arcs.

Iâve been sitting on this for a while: hereâs the recording of my Wind Ensemble piece âNightmareâ from the reading last November. Thank you again to James Peterson who did an amazing job conducting this reading and to all of the players who were kind enough to donate some of their time to help make this recording possible!
Also, my senior recital is tomorrow at Noon in Griswold Hall at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore! There will be lunch afterward! I hope to see you there!!
For the new year, Iâm going to be posting some new music. To start, hereâs a track that released last week, which I havenât personally shared yet, from Squirrely Roo Rabbit. We also just released a new build of the game!! Whether youâve played before and want to see the changes or have never played, I encourage you to check it out (itâs FREE!!!). Thanks for your time, and Happy New Year, everybody!!
Download the game for free here:Â https://goo.gl/2ufxp5
Sorry for yelling there, but this project looks so good!! Like, holy shit, it only has 6 days left you should back it and make this cool looking game a reality!!
Hello, and welcome to the Song Exchange! In this episode, long overdue, TJ and Kyle dive into the wonderful world of Steven Wilson. This week's listenings are below, along with a link to the full Tu
NEW EPISODE, WHAT???
Thatâs right! Â We actually made an episode. Â Crazy, I know. Â In this episode, long overdue, TJ and Kyle dive into the wonderful world of Steven Wilson. This week's listenings are below, along with a link to the full Tumblr Post. Check that out for extra special stuff (like links to full listening and many extra, arguably unnecessary words. But yay, we're back, sorta!!
All Music in the podcast, while minimal, is owned by Steven Wilson. We do not claim any copyright over his work and only show it here because of our funny (âfunnyâ) comments over it. To listen to more of him, hop over here.Â
This weekâs listenings are âDeform To Form A Starâ and âThe Raven That Refused to Singâ. Â
Also, if you like Classical composers, check out this short 12-minute podcast I did about Prokofiev. Â Basically, itâs about why his music is freaking BADASS AS FUCK and why you should ALL LOVE IT. Â But it doesnât have any swearing, so I use less appropriate words to describe his music. Â Check it out, and if you guys like it, let me know, and maybe Iâll do more.
Anyway, more under the break. Â Thanks for listening! Â If you want to see more of us, check us out at SoundCloud here.
Phew. Â Hey, under the thingy readers. Â So, we havenât been around for a while. Â As we said twice (at least) in the Podcast, itâs because weâre busy, and as much as we love doing this (and we do love doing this), itâs just not as high on our priority list as we may like want it to be. Â Sorry about that :(
BUT we will be releasing new episodes on a strict whenever we feel like it schedule. Â So weâre basically on permanent hiatus, but weâll come back every once and a while to talk about music.Â
So yeah thatâs pretty much all for now! Â Thanks for listening guys, and see you next time...whenever that is. Â Now for the technical things:Â
This weekâs full listening was:
Grace for Drowning
The Raven That Refused to Sing (and Other Stories)
Hand. Cannot. Erase.
See you next time for when Kyle and I discuss Pentatonixâs new album, Pentatonix Volume 4: Classics.

Hello! We know we have been very un-active for a while, but we promise that we have some good stuff coming!
The quality of some of those last episodes were not what you guys had come to expect, so we (Kyle - I havenât told Tj yet (itâs a surprise donât let him know)) have been working on something to make our episodes even BETTER than they were before. WOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooot.
So, until our next update, please enjoy this lovely song (which I found myself singing along to even though I never heard it before.... Interesting.)
For the first episode of 2017, TJ and Kyle invite Gwen onto the podcast with us to talk about the 1990's musical flop "Nick and Nora"! We talk about the music, why it failed, the theoretical choreography of "Hamilton", as well as many other (possibly related) things! Thanks for listening, and happy new year!!
Sadly, the only place I could find this weekâs listening was on iTunes for $9.99. But nobody wants to buy music just to listen to a podcast!  But the listenings in the podcast are the Overture to Promises, Promises, âEverybody Wants to do a Musicalâ, and âBoom Chicka Boomâ. Â
Happy 2017 (almost)!! On this episode of the Podcast, TJ and Kyle go over their favorite music (and movies and books and video games) of 2016 and look forward to 2017 for even better things to come! And, as always, thanks for listening!
This weekâs listening on Kyleâs side was Red Hot Chili Pepperâs The Getaway and on TJâs side, this.
And finally, here is the music I wrote for Boba Studioâs latest video game, Squirrely Roo Rabbit!! It was a blast to work with and get to know everybody at Boba Studios, and thanks again so much for letting me work on this game with you guys! Â
If you would like to get the game, get it here at Game Jolt.  Itâs really, really great, and itâs FREE (which makes anything 1000x better than it already is).
As I said in the bonus episode last week, here is the music I wrote for Boba Studioâs Squirrely Roo Rabbit! Â The link to get the game is above, if youâd like to get it (as itâs both free and amazing). Â I hope you enjoy, and thanks for listening!
In a non-game-related note, there will be a newly recorded episode on Monday, for you to treasure in the gap between Christmas and New Years. Â Happy Holidays everybody, and see you Monday!

This week on the song exchange, TJ and Kyle, um, don't have an episode due to...reasons. BUT here's a nifty bonus episode with all of the deleted scenes (all the good ones, at least) from episodes 7 (ClassiKyle), 8 (Metal), and 9 (Bon Iver). Enjoy and, as always, thanks for listening!! (There will be an actual episode that Kyle and I will record once heâs home).
Also, get Squirrely Roo Rabbit HERE FOR FREE!!

More below the thing:
So yeah, it was all my fault. Â And it was a good episode, too!! Uggghhh.
I just didnât hit record.Â
Ugh. Â Guess the 2016 retrospective will have to wait until next week.
Anyway, HEY my friends made a game and I wrote the music for it!! Â Iâll be posting the music for it on my SoundCloud which you can find here (Iâll also make a master post on my Tumblr and here when itâs all up). Â Play it! Itâs fun! (AND as long as you have an XBOX 360 controller, you can play it as thereâs a PC and a Mac build! So yay!!) Â And of course, thanks again to Ashley and Boba Studios for letting me collaborate with them on this project. Â It was fun as always!
This weekâs advice is hit record when recording. Â Thatâs the advice I need at the moment, at least. Â
This week on The Song Exchange, Infinity joins TJ and Kyle on the podcast to talk about Bon Iverâs newest album â22, A Millionâ. They spend some time talking about music, but they also talk about life, sounds, farts, and censorship along with many, many other things. Thanks so much for listening and see you in 2 weeks for our last episode of 2016!
This weekâs listening was For Emma, Forever Ago, Bon Iver, and 22, A Million, though we mostly talked about 22, A Million during the podcast.
This weekâs in podcast listening was âRhapsody in Greenâ, âRhapsody in Greenâ REVERSED, and âThere Anybody Out Thereâ. Â
Like last week (and technically every week): This podcast has explicit content, so listener discretion is advised. Â But itâs a fun listen, thatâs for sure!
Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Â Email us at [email protected]!! According to Kyle, weâll make shirts if you send us 10 emails. Â He can pay for them!
Thanks again so much to Infinity both for suggesting that we do Bon Iver and for joining us this week. Â She is super busy, and Iâm so grateful that she took time out to join us on our stupid yet silly podcast about music. Â And as always, thanks to you for listening! Â More below the break:
Hello, friends! So not too much down here, but a few pieces of news:
Firstly, Iâve made the executive decision that we will not always have wikistories. Â We will have them if they are relevant for that week, but from now on they are not always gonna be around (just because of the time it takes for us to make one is consuming for both Kyle and I). Â
Secondly, this is our second to last podcast of the year. Â But donât fret! While there will only be one more official episode this year, there will be one more bonus episode before the new year (hopefully). Â Since episode 7, Iâve been trying to make sure that the podcast falls at around 45 minutes to an hour tops. Â Sometimes this has gone well, sometimes not. Â But, Iâve now cut over 2 hours of material, most of which is perfectly good material that simply had to be cut for time. Â So an episode comprised of a lot of that will hopefully be your way the week before New Years! Â And mark your calendars because our first podcast of the new year will be on January 2, 2017!
Until then, I sign off with the weekly piece of advice:
Donât drown in finals. Not only would death by drowning be painful, but youâd probably get a bunch of paper cuts as well and blehgh. Â Not fun.
PS I forgot click HERE for the link to the lyrics website for 22, A Million. The site has annotated lyrics that help explain what the album means.
Another bi-week, another episode! Â This week on the song exchange podcast, TJ and Kyle talk about life, metal, Bruno Mars, and absolute business. There is also some non-spoilery talk of the "Fantastic Beasts", but there are no spoilers. However, there are many spoilers to "Black Butler"!...so we tried.
This week we listened to a bunch of stuff that Kyle compiled together, and itâs kinda complicated, to be honest. Â You can find the full list here!
In the podcast this week, we listened to âArithmophobiaâ by Animals as Leaders, âI Still Believeâ by Narnia, and âUnchain My Soulâ by Dark Funeral.
A new addition to this part of the podcast is the following:
This podcast has strong language (just like all of our podcasts). Â Itsâs not like this podcast is special in comparison to others in this regard, but Kyle and I thought weâd put this up here anyway. Â Get used to seeing it!!
If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or anything at all, please email us at [email protected]. And as always, thanks so much for listening!!
More under the thing, see you there!!
Hey peoples!Â
I donât have too much to say here this, so Iâll finish writing soon. Â However there is one main thing to say:
The picture above shows the lamp Kyle and I were talking about. Â This probably wonât make sense until you reach that part of the podcast though....welp, get excited! No spoilers now, just listen up for it!
And now for a non-main thing: this weekâs piece of advice!
Stay strong: people need you, even if you donât realize it or think otherwise. Â
In any case: in this episode of the Song Exchange, TJ and Kyle actually talk about music for most of the show while trying not to talk about the election! But we talk about a bunch of other stuff, too!!
This weekâs full listening is kinda complicated, so instead of listing it up here, Iâll list it below the thing and in the wikistory.
The in podcast listenings are âWave the Seaâ and âBrushy Forkâ from Bryce Dessnerâs Murder Ballades, Dmitri Shostakovichâs Piano Concerto 2, and the third movement from Sergei Prokofievâs Piano Sonata 7.Â
Also, I want to say that after listening to the Bruno Mars song again in the last few days, I like it a lot more and the lyrics donât seem as jarring to me.Â
Thanks for listening!! Â More below the thing:
Hello, under the thing readers!
This weekâs full listening is:
Partita for 8 Voices by Caroline Shaw
Scythian Suite Mvt. 2 Â by Sergei Prokofiev
Related: âThe Enemy God Dances With the Black Spiritsâ by Emerson, Lake and Palmer (itâs an arrangement of Scythian)
Firebird (1945 ver) by Stravinsky mvts 10-12*
Hindemith Symphony in Bb Mvt 1 and 3
Movement 5 of Bartokâs String Quartet No. 4
Harmonielehre mvt 3 by John Adams
Mozart Requiem Mvts 1-2 (to 11 minutes or so), mvts 6-9 from about 24:02-39:40 or so
Aurora Awakes by John Mackey
Short Ride in a Fast Machine by John Adams
Prokofiev Tocatta Op. 11
This weekâs in podcast listenings can be seen above^^
For advice this week, the only thing I can say is the same thing thatâs on the back of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:
Hey, remember that episode we missed last week? Â WELL HERE IT IS!
This week on the song exchange, Kyle takes us on a journey through one of his old favorites: "The Chronicles of Life and Death" by Good Charlotte. While on this journey, we talk about bouncing, the first Pokemon movie, haircuts, video games, movies, urination physics, and much, much more!
This weekâs wikistory can be found here.
This weekâs main listening was the Chronicles of Life and Death, by Good Charlotte.
If you like us, weâd love for you to either follow us here, on soundcloud (hit link above), or both. Â Donât be shy!
Hello below the thing readers. Â Thingers? Â Yeah, no, thatâs....no...
Ok so this weekâs in house listenings were âMeet My Makerâ, âThe Chronicles of Life and Deathâ, and âWonderfulâ
So yeah, thatâs the episode we missed. Â We should be back on schedule for next week when weâll be talking about Classical Music I like to listen to for fun (full listening list here)
And more than that Iâve got nothing. Â Oh advice of the week! Â Ummmmmmm
If you try one thing and it doesnât work, try itâs opposite. Â Many times, thatâs the trick (or at least gets you closer to the money).

So if youâre here looking for an update, Iâm sad to say that there isnât one ready yet :( Â Kyle and I have been both busy and sick in the weeks after we went to NYCC, and so we havenât been able to record. Â The original plan was to record the night of NYCC, but that didnât work out (due to sickness and other things).
THAT BEING SAID, we will have an update either later this week or over the weekend. Â The next episode is Kyleâs pick and is on a song that he only recently discovered on a favorite album of his (The Chronicles of Life and Death by Good Charlotte). Â So we shall record and get that up as soon as we can.
In the meanwhile, to make up for the lack of content today, I have written a short story.  This story, âThe Manâ, is based in the same world as a much longer untitled story I am working on, but is placed ca. 1000 years before the longer story takes place.  Link here.
I suck at writing, so if you have any critiques, please let me know. Â Have a great Monday, everybody! Â
This week on the Song Exchange, we invite Sean [AND] onto the podcast to teach us the ways of Electro-Swing. Come join us to hear about Caravan Palace, Creativity, Conjunctions, ISIL testimonies, space art, and much much more in our longest episode!!
Seriously, though, they won't be this long again. Promise.
NOTE: This week's thumbnail is the moon art that is currently on the moon. We DO NOT OWN IT and we DO NOT claim ownership of it. We use it solely as a visual aid for when the topic comes up in the podcast. Please don't sue us, thank you.
This weekâs full listening can be found in the Wikistory, but it mainly consisted of the albums Caravan Palace, Panic, and <I°_°I> all by Caravan Palace.
More below the thing, but if I donât see you there, thanks for listening!!
Hello below-the-thing-ers.Â
...yeah ok I need to work on that name.
This week, we donât have much under here. Â Just the wikistory, which has all of the links we refer to in the podcast as well as the full listening list that sean gave us for the podcast along with the in podcast listening. Â So if you want to check out that (and missed the first link), click HERE.
For sake of keeping all the things essential for the podcast here, however, here are the links for this weekâs listening:
Tattoos
Midnight
Human Leather Shoes for Crocodile Dandies
And now for this weekâs piece of advice, one that is topical for both Kyle and me: DONâT GET SICK. NOT. FUN.
