The music of his words sparks a smile on her lips and she gives a gentle squeeze of his hand back. ❛ It is you who does the inspiring, ❜ Eurydice said softly. ❛ For such stunning things to spring from you lips and fingertips, is a talent I’ve never had. ❜ She was pleased with the idea of being his muse, but he was the one who left her in wonderment. ❛ Hm, and I would walk anywhere with you too. ❜ Eurydice promises back, knowing that her life would never be entangled with anything as beautiful. ❛ The stars look like they could drop down from the sky. ❜

“It’s the very thought of you that causes such things to ‘spring’ from me, as you say,” Orpheus is quick to answer. Truly, it is as much Eurydice’s love that inspires him as it is his own innate ( if god-given ) talent. She awed him, every moment of every day. Orpheus looks up at the stars and smiles fondly. “I would catch each and every one and give them all to you if I could.”

𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑲 𝑺𝑶𝑭𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑺 𝑨 𝑳𝑰𝑻𝑻𝑳𝑬 . they sit side by side on the bed , thighs touching . since hadestown , neither of them have been the same . they have nightmares , they have fears , as much as they try to go back to how it was before . eurydice is surprised orpheus still wants her , orpheus on the other hand , can’t seem to get enough of her . he always wants to know where she’s going , when she’ll be home , when she’s leaving , he’d followed her if he could , and he has . and though spring has come , she still has to work , and it ain’t easy with the poet on her tail . “ – Orpheus … “ presses her fingers to his cheek , “ I won’t leave you again . you know that , don’t you ? things are different now . I never should’ve left . “

she touches his cheek, and orpheus can only look down at his lap. embarrassed. ashamed. these days, he can’t help but worry. about everything. he lost her once; losing eurydice again would only serve to devastate him further. “ ‘m sorry, eurydice, ” he replies softly, reaching up to hold the hand that touches his cheek. “ i do know that. i do. and... i don’t blame you for leavin’ in the first place. just... what if somethin’ happens? and i’m not there to protect you? ”
