Pomni wasn’t just a burnt out accountant.

She was lonely as shown by how in episode 5 she revealed that no one watched her vlogs.

This loneliness and feeling burnt out caused her to go to haunted places to get some sort of thrill despite hating horror.

This? This right here? This means everything to me.

miserable, sitting off to the side instead of getting a Marketable Summer Outfit™ from Caine's changing booth and joining in on the fun. the argument with Pomni at the end of the gun episode is probably still on her mind, but as a trans woman, i can attest to how even the idea of going to the beach can evoke dysphoria.

That was, until Susie came along.

Almost every single major conflict in the game can be tied back to a character from these two families. The dark worlds literally exist the way they do because of Kris and Noelle playing make-believe with them. And Dess is almost certainly the main antagonist of the whole game. In regards to the prophecy, there is enough evidence to support that it was originally meant to be Noelle and not Susie (even if I don't personally believe that theory). And even just the fact that the weird route hinges specifically on Noelle and Kris's relationship says a lot.

The narrative was supposed to be (and in some regard, still is) about how the two families used to be very close, how tragedy struck, how the eight of them drifted apart, and how they all are trying to come back together.

But then along came Susie.

Literally in her introduction, she puts a stop to the intended path by partnering with Kris instead of having Kris partner with Noelle. She inserts herself into the story almost immediately, but not as a hero. It takes Kris, Ralsei, and Lancer to really get her to finally listen. Again, comparing to Noelle, who slides into the dark worlds almost perfectly, Susie is seen as an outlier. Almost like she wasn't supposed to be here. And yet, despite this, she still makes herself important to this narrative and these characters. She's just built different.

But what I find specifically intriguing is that SUSIE is the one who inadvertently brings the families closer. She acts as an anchor for Kris, she pushes Noelle to stand up for herself, and she is the catalyst for the two of them to start hanging out again. She is the one to defeat the King, she is the one to get to through to Tenna, she is the one who stands up to Carol, and she is the one who is defying fate to make her own destiny. By just being who she is, she's made her friends closer than they ever would have been without her.

so i have a couple theories about why it’s called walpurgisnacht rising, either

1. it’s just indicating that the big bad of the movie is walpurgisnacht. which to me, feels like a cop out because walpurgisnacht has really been the big bad for the Mitakihara magical girls since the jump.

2. we are going to find out who walpurgisnacht is and get a similar situation, to the Wings of Magius, where someone other than our main girls is combining witches. Or we find out Homura is combining witches for some reason.

Oooh, now things are getting interesting!! This is the best view of Shi Chouka's costume yet. The color scheme is reminiscent of kabocha pumpkins, but somehow she makes it work. Did she steal Mami's ribbons tho

I am still not over how the girl whose theme is "rubber inflatables" has both an inflatable wand as a weapon AND a skirt shaped like a beach ball. I may never be over this, in fact. Peak character design.

Speaking of which, this brings me to a point I've been wondering about for a while: Where is her soul gem? Is it hidden or does she even have one in the first place? Given the weird shit going on with her soul gem ring (the false Homura's ring appears to be missing a gem entirely), it would not surprise me if it's just not there. (We see a flash of light when Shi Chouka and Selma Therese raise their rings to transform, but it may just be reflecting on the metal rather than any kind of gem.) Given that she's sold her soul to the devil (possibly quite literally, since the Devil is now an established role/archetype, and both versions of Homura appear to be making contracts), it makes sense why this might be the case. Alternately, when magical girls die, their soul gems disappear, and there's a ton of suicidal imagery already present with these girls and in the trailer in general.
