Me: I love Smash! Itâs such a fun PARTY game! :)
Competitive Smash Player Still Using a Gamecube Controller in 2018:
Listen Iâm still pissed that Smash which started as a fun party brawling game got co-opted by a bunch of dick bag âgit gudâ assholes who literally took it and tried to turn it into every other fighting game out there.
I just wanna point out that all the âNo items, stock only, no stage effectsâ crew all are complete trash at the game. Theyâre great at FIGHTING GAMES, but complete Garbage at Smash Bros. Because instead of trying to learn the game, learn to play around the items, learn which stages do what, they just turn it all off (when you first start the game all the items and stage effects are on and you canât turn them off in any of the modes except multiplayer melee).
And then if you do wanna play with items they try to shame you and claim that youâre âruining the gameâ or âcheatingâ because âyou canât win without using items.â Guess what asswipe the intention is to play with the items thatâs why theyâre their in the first place for free with the base game.
Itâs not my fault you had to dumb down the game to succeed cause you donât know how to use the fire flower or metal bunny ears correctly.
As a casual competitive Smash Bros player, I still am playing Smash Ultimate with my Gamecube controller, and typically play Stock, with No Items, but thereâs no way Iâd ever turn down playing a time match of smash with 7 other people with all items on. Smash Bros is Smash Bros.
If someone brought out Super Smash Brothers Brawl and asked to play it, Iâd suggest any of the other smash games because I just donât personally find that game to be as fun as the others, but if they really wanted to play that one Iâd still be up for playing it.
The only people I know who play Smash are online, and so if I were able to play Smash Bros with someone face to face, and they wanted to play a certain way, thereâs no way Iâd just say no because my personal preferences are different, because they are just preferences. Anyone can play Smash how they want. Thatâs what Smash is about. If you want, if you want, you can play No items, Stock, and more neutral stages. Or you can play a four player all ice climbers match, items on and pokefloats in Melee, thatâd be a blast even.
One last point from me, Iâve tried other fighting games and I am absolute garbage at them and I just donât typically find them as fun, they arenât as free and spontaneous as Smash Bros in my limited experience.
Thanks for the opportunity to drop all of this on tumblr, Iâve been thinking about this a lot and this kinda let me put it all down, if you made it this far, thanks for reading and I hope you have a good day or night. c:

too unrealistic
amazon sent me a replacement for my lost package and it âarrivedâ today
omg she recognized me immediately and got nervous with me while checking the system using my name
she was just as distraught as me when it turned up âarriving tomorrowâ again but then she had another idea
mail is dumb
The mail lady saying âNO. I REFUSE to say it againâ was more climactic than the Braveheart speech.
The USPS is a mess but Iâm glad you found someone who went the extra mile and didnât just trust the screen in front of them!
May the 10 of Pentacles bless your account with more money than you can spend. đ”âš

Omg this actually works!!! Thank you 10 of Pentacles!!!
I could seriously use this money right nowâŠ.
Please give me my refund of 400$ soonâŠ
I feel obligated to reblog this every time it shows up in my dash
No bragging, just 100% floored and grateful. Work hard, maintain a positive attitude, and believe that anything can happen.
So I reblogged this exactly a week ago because I thought it was funny and uh lo and behold, a family friend wrote me a big olâ check just to help me out of a tough financial spot AND my bank refunded me $32 for fees theyâd originally taken out. SO UH YEAH. Reblogging this again in hopes that it brings equally good fortune to my followers.
Sure why not? Jobs bring in money and prosperityâŠ
I got my heart broken and I survived, I failed 3 courses in university and graduated, I got rejected in the very first job I applied for and got promoted yesterday, I went through hard times with my family but then two years later, we laughed our hearts out over lunch, The closest friends disappointed me several times but I made new friends and loved them with all my heart. I did it once, I can do it again.
I NEEDED THIS SO BADLY
1. Ah Fai was a chief animator for McDullâs animated features. Heâs super cool. Ultimate senpai.Â
2. Previous post on breakdowns right hereÂ
Some thoughts on acceleration and force
I presented this in the order of how I slowly understood the trick of delivering force -Â first an abstract concept of impact taught by Ah Fai, then a more complicated discovery on the acceleration pattern, last back to a more abstract concept of breakdowns.Â
Like Iâve previously stressed, 2D animation is everything but one single approach. Thereâs no one rule that rules them all, but interchangeable ideas with math, or physics, or music, etc. Thereâs no âperfectâ animation either, but what is perceived as organic and dynamic. E.g., using the Fibonacci numbers to animate didnât bring me a perfect animation! On the other hand, a tiny change in the pattern could already make the feeling of force so much more powerful.Â
Not so much of a tutorial than a personal experience. I hope you find this interesting hahahaÂ

How to do âextraâ facial expressions!
Drawing basic facial expressions is not the hardest. Most people can draw a sad face, a happy face, angry etc., but making more multidimensional expressions is more of a challenge. I have gotten a lot of compliments on how I draw facial expressions, (specifically âangsty onesâ) telling me that they are very dramatic and well⊠expressive! And there are actually only a few things I think about when I draw faces that take them to the next level, so I thought iâd illustrate them all here!
SUPER IMPORTANT TIP BEFORE WE START: Look at your own face when you draw faces. Even making the face when you are drawing (you donât even have to look at it), will give you some sense of how the face muscles pull and where things fold and stretch, because you can feel it. You are the best reference when it comes to facial expressions!
AnglesÂ
Draw the head in an angle that matches the expressions you want to make. It is not a requirement, but is going to add to the effect.
Symmetry vs asymmetryÂ
A face is rarely symmetric. Unless the face the character is making is 100 % relaxed or even dissociating, the eyebrows, mouth and facial muscles will have different placements of their respective side. This image shows the dramatic impact asymmetry has on a face:Â
Thatâs the difference between a smile and a smirk!
The first oneâs like âoh yeah?â and the second is like âoH YEAH??â
The âballoon squishing principleâ
This is something I did subconsciously, and I didnât know about until I made this tutorial. And this principle goes hand in hand with an asymmetric face. Basically, if you squish one part of the face, you need to even out the empty space by âinflatingâ the other part of the face so that it doesnât appear shrunken. The picture hopefully explains it:
TeethÂ
Donât forget to add the gum when the mouth is open to its full potential!
Squinting and folding
Adding folds around the eyes when a character is squinting makes a HUGE difference. It makes a smile more genuine and a growl more intimidating. Adding folds to the face in general makes your characters more lifelike and âvisually relatableâ. Like, they look human, and less plastic or fake.
and so on..
Pupils and irisesÂ
The placement of the iris and pupil in relation to the eyelids is very important! The less of the white you see, the more relaxed the character is.Â
And then of course eyebrows and eyes go hand in hand!
Gestures, spitting, sweatingâŠÂ
Adding more elements than just a face is key to making the character actually look like they are feeling what you want them to feel. Just the tiniest sweat drop adds to their anxiety, spitting adds frustration to their rage, slouching shoulders, waving hands, a double chin, extreme angles, the list goes on! Add whatever and see what kind of impact it makes! Does it do the trick? Great! Add it!Â
Over exaggeration!!Â
Remember that you can almost always exaggerate more. Donât be afraid to do draw âtoo muchâ because youâre just experimenting. See what works and what doesnât. What do you like to exaggerate?
Now that you know some theory, itâs time to practice!
Practicing!!Â
The 25 Essential Expressions (a classic! Iâve done it multiple times)
And the one I do when Iâm bored:
Fill a page with circles and fill them in with different expressions. Try and exaggerate as much as you can!Â
This is mostly for experimenting. They are quicker to draw than complete faces, but the same rules should apply!
And thatâs about it!
I donât know if I covered everything in this tutorial, since some things might be obvious for me, and this post perhaps only scratches the surface. So feel free to send me a message if you want an explanation about something more in depth! Thank you for reading! And now DRAW!!! âšđš
woot i cant believe it i finally got this far thank you all so much! to celebrate this im gonna be doing a raffle! to enter just reblog this post and thatâs it! (more info about the raffle under the cut!)Â

How to Finish
I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.
Love this, but reblogging it specifically for âGet rid of secret rules.â Thatâs one of the most amazing illustrationsâand pointsâIâve ever seen.
so important especially for perfectionists who procrastinate and never finish, or even start because they set such high standards for themselves.
Needed this. Slowly been learning a few of these but this really illustrates a lot of what I need to do to get new stuff out.

How to Pony: Part 2 - Forelegs As mentioned above, the forelegs are often treated much like human arms and with little regard for how a ponyâs legs would actually bend. I think this is fine as long as it is done as a conscious decision. I try to follow the guidelines whenever possible, but wonât hesitate to break the rules if I think it will make the picture better.
(As before, if tumblr made this all blurry there is a copy on my dA as well. Iâll edit this post to add a link later)

Hereâs something I wish I couldâve told my 16 year old comic artist self.
Itâs not a drag to update my comic every week because I genuinely enjoy working on it. I get asked by some people how I do it like itâs a chore Iâm pushing past every week, but itâs the one thing I look forward to! I feel like if your webcomic isnât making you happy like that you should keep experimenting with your artistic expression because itâs hours and hours of work with very little financial gain and free time should always be used in a rejuvenating and rewarding way. Sometimes you have ideas that are exciting and you feel like âugh I have to push past the boring exposition stuff to get to the really good stuffâ But thatâs not true! There are ways to re-write the exposition stuff to be JUST as interesting and rewarding as the fun parts you just gotta keep exploring the script and try to figure out how much boring stuff you can get rid of. for example instead of drawing the characters explaining for hours about what theyâre gonna do about that evil witch just draw them killing the evil witch, and imply the fact they planned it out well. You can say all that with just a background detail (like their chalk board with a map drawn on it ) and you donât need to draw all those boring talking blah blah blah faces.
