May be a good moment to point out that I'm the original owner of @norowareshimono (I lost access to that account forever and ever, also my Japanese is a lot better and I have a lot more experience as a fan translator now so... Yeah!). There's still some very worthwhile stuff there to read, I think!

Hi! I'd like to have a request if you don't mind me. When Nea talks to Allen in the mirror in 248, what does he say exactly? A translation says it as 'you offered your body' but according 252 it's more about accepting an offer..
Now, forgive the image quality because it's a screenshot of my digital copy. I didn't take the file apart like I usually do for scanlation purposes, because that's not the point here.
"Impossible... I... you're saying I was rebuilt...?"
"Allen, you weren't made into the host (by me)"
"You willingly offered/sacrificed/consecrated/devoted your body to me"
The thing is: "offered to me" isn't an inaccurate translation per se, it's also probably not the correct translation within the context of DGM's story. What Nea is using here is 捧げる, a verb you see most often used when talkings about "offering (something)" or "dedicating (something)" to some sort of entity above you or a cause (as banal as, say, learning a skill, but a cause nevertheless!)
Just to give you some examples the dictionary uses:
祈りを捧げる -> To offer a prayer (to deity)
すべてを捧げる -> To give everything (to a cause)
命を捧げる -> to give/devote one's life (in the specific case given, to your country)
See the problem here? While "offer" isn't inaccurate, the original japanese doesn't imply initiative anywhere. Knowing what we do know now, I would translate it as:
"You willingly devoted your body to me"

[GUIDE] HOW TO GET LEGALLY AND BUY D.GRAY-MAN NEW CHAPTER (30/01/2026)
Hello everyone,
With the new D.Gray-man chapter release yesterday, I received a lot of questions on how to buy the chapter to read it legally.
Buying the chapter is the best way to support Hoshino Katsura and D.Gray-man. You may not know, but in Japan, a popular manga can get axed if the sales are too low, so it's absolutely essential to buy the magazine.
You get the chapter at the exact time of its release. No need to wait for the raws to come out!
You support directly the author and the series
It only costs around 700¥, so less than 4€! And it's only once every three months!
So, how to buy it ?
I personally use an app called "Bookwalker", made by KADOKAWA, a famous editor in Japan. They have an app and a website.
1)Download the "Bookwalker" app on PlayStore/Apple store

Their global website and application is in English, so it is very easy to navigate through.
2)Create an account
You can use your Google or Facebook account to get in, or create your own Bookwalker account.
(I am using the JP version but the global version is in English)
Enter your informations, and now, you have an account! Everything is in English, it should be easy.
I strongly advice you to also enter your paiement informations right away, you'll understand why later.
3) Look for SQ.RISE (the D.Gray-man magazine)
⚠️Here is the tricky part.⚠️
The chapter won't come out if you just tap "D.Gray-man" on the research bar. You have to look for "SQ.RISE", the magazine in which D.Gray-man is published.
SQ. RISE is only available on the Japanese version. Yeah, I know. It's stupid. BUT, you have access to the JP version with your global Bookwalker account. It just means the site will be in Japanese

In the research bar, look for "SQ. RISE".
Then, you'll arrive to this page :
When you click on the magazine, you'll have all the recent issues appearing. Just click on the one you want (the latest one is on the left!)
4) Buy the magazine
Click on the "今すぐ購入" (buy now), on the left. The right option is "put it in the cart", if you wanna keep on shopping more.
Beware, if you click before the release time, you'll get this screen :
"予約する" means "to pre order". If you click on that screen, the magazine will download automatically the moment it releases.
5) Payment
Time to pay! Click on the middle option "全額登録したクレジットカードで今すぐ購入" (pay everything with credit card)
As you'll have noticed, you're on the JP version of the website, so everything is in Japanese. That is why I strongly advise you enter your credit card informations on your English account so you don’t have to do it in Japanese when you buy the magazine.
And now you have bought the magazine!
6) Reading time!
Click on "Read now" (読む) to read it from the internet page or "Read in the app" (アプリで読む) to read it on the application !
Now, you'll have the magazine!
When you open the magazine, on the second page, you'll have the summary, so you know on which page is D.Gray-man new chapter!
For instance, on this picture, D.Gray-man is page 453.
And that's all!
I know it might sound a bit complex, but I really encourage you to buy magazine. It is the best way to support D.Gray-man so it can continue.

Every three months I need to recheck how the magazine that publishes DGM is even named so I can buy.
Anyway that sure was a chapter
For work-related reasons, it'll probably take me a bit longer than I wish to work on the new DGM chapter. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully I'll be able to tackle it soon.
The only alternative would be to have someone else do the page cleanup or/and typesetting, as translation itself should still be doable within the usual timeframe.

Hi! I had a question about dgm, if that's ok!
I noticed that in the dgm wiki Kanda's last name is written in kanji, but his first name is written in katakana instead, and as I don't have the japanese versions of the chapters, I wanted to ask if that's the case in the manga as well.
Since you can't tell a name's meaning from katakana, I wonder if this way of writing is supposed to imply that we as an audience aren't privy to the meaning of his first name because it belongs to the past and has been buried along with everyone he knew back then...
First of all, sorry it took me forever to get around to this. I've been a bit busy these weeks and I couldn't bring myself to sit and type a proper answer.
So, it's true that 神田ユウ is written like that, we are never given a meaning for the name...... which is interesting for a reason completely different: no other character in the entirety of DGM uses a mixed kanji/hanzi+katakana name. Even characters like the Changs, where it would make perfect sense because they're a mixed race couple..... it's all katakana.
Only 3 other characters use kanji for their Actual Given Names: Rofah, Li Kei and Chomesuke (as Chomesuke, Sachiko is katakana. Which makes sense because Chomesuke doesn't know who Sachiko truly was, and hence the associated kanji). This being the State of Things, this leads me to a parallel but ultimately very similar question: Is this unique mixed kanji+katakana approach as Intentional as it seems, and what's there to tell us if that's the case?
The answer is, to me, in this:
The thing is... Looking at this, the "proper" way to romanize Kanda's name wouldn't be Kanda Yuu or Kanda Yu: it's Kanda YU. It's his code name as an experiment. We lack the meaning not because we don't know it, but because there isn't one.
This pattern repeats with Alma Karma, within limitations:
So I don't think Yuu was written in katakana to highlight something was off. I think Kanda was written in kanji to highlight that something was off with the lack of them for Yuu.
It also bears mentioning that the "surname is written in kanji, name in katakana/hiragana" is a phenomena you sometimes see in shounen manga and other media aimed to that teenager age group. So it would have been easy for Kanda's oddities to pass unnoticed if you don't really stop to check and realize he's the exception to the rule.
