If you’re like me when you saw the Reliant Mako in concept sale you thought, “That’s a strange bit of feature creep, even for CIG standards”. What purpose could a news van in space possibly have except for ship specific “go here and point the camera at this for 5 minutes missions.” it doesn’t really seem to fit in with the rest of the universe as a whole.It was only later when I was reading a little about Amazon Lumberyards features and I read something that set off a little spark in my head: “Native Twitch integration” this presents a really exciting gameplay avenue, something not explored in any other game. Actual player run, in universe news and entertainment channels.I’d imagine that you could stream to Twitch from any ship, but enter the Reliant Mako:The Empire depends on up-to-the-second information, which is why reporters need to be able to go where the news is happening: wherever, whenever. This kind of gameplay doesn’t exist in any other game.Suddenly this very limited sounding profession is bursting with depth and emergent gameplay possibilities; Hiring mercs for protection or to harass the competition, employing scouts to find the best stories first or if you want to get sinister you could hire pirates or mercs to create some news.This tech could be a huge boost to current streamers too. You could watch Twitch streams on your MFDs as entertainment for those long flights (hi E:D).
