I don't know what kind of timeline we ended up in, but it DOES NOT feel right to get 4 unskippable on a YouTube video that are all about credit card companies, followed by getting a sponsor in the video about a credit card company, and then you try to go online shopping, but the first option they give you are monthly payments via credit companies, and THEN you say "screw this!" and go outside where you see five sketchy businesses with advertisements for loans back-to-back-to-back.

Some of y'all need to up your standards on what makes a good parent/parental figure because I posted a new chapter of my latest Batman soulmark fanfic where Damian is finally introduced, and I'm getting comments like: "You made Talia a good mother! I'm so happy!!" No babygirl, I DID NOT.

In the fic, she held a knife in Damian's hand and made him kill someone at age 3. There's a part where he says he hides in his bedroom closet because she yells at him. After Jason leaves, Damian asks if he'll ever meet his father, and Talia slaps him. He asks again a year later, and she tries to slap him again. She challenges him to a duel and beats him up. Then she cheats and straight up kills him during their second duel.

But oh no. She has to be a good mother because she felt bad after she killed him and punished herself after he was brought back. Yeah, sure, she must suddenly be a fully 100% good individual because she lets Damian go to Gotham at 10 years old when she finally realizes Ra's will kill him in order to use his body as his new host. She is morally gray at best.

Honey, baby, sweetie, angel, having a small amount of remorse after 10 whole years does not suddenly make them a good parent 😭

Something feels very dystopian when you post chapter 1 of 2 for a new fanfic that takes off and ends up getting 1.2k hits and FOURTEEN comments (all positive!) talking about how amazing the writing and story is and how the readers are in tears within the first 13 hours of posting just to to get hit with an email between all the fanfiction email alerts that says your original short story just got rejected from a magazine company for the second time.

#I'm not saying something is suspicious #I'm just saying it doesn't make sense how audiences can swoon over my stories #and yet actual publishing companies can say otherwise #This is the second company to reject this one story #And I've also had 2 different poems rejected #and my novel has been turned down by 30 different agents #I even showed it to my mom's editor friend who said there's nothing wrong with it #And I've had multiple peer reviews #is it because I don't have a creative writing degree?#Or lots of money and internet fame?#rants #fanfiction writing #writing

Man, remember when something was trending and it would continue to trend for at least a year? Yeah, I miss that.

For context, this was originally about Dispatch and No, I'm Not a Human because these games are amazing, but their full releases haven't even been out for a whole month yet, and audiences are already moving on. Like, I haven't even had time to buy Dispatch yet, and I've only gotten like a third of the endings for No, I'm Not a Human.

I mean, seriously, are we at a point now that when something cool comes out that gets everyone talking, it barely lasts like sand in the wind unless you purposefully have to join the fandom and do Tumblr and Ao3 deep-drives to keep it relevant?

I'm still in fandoms from over a decade ago that are alive and well, but for some reason, all the newer releases of games and movies just can't seem to stick. My whole family constantly makes references to movies from the 80s, which might I remind you was 40 years ago, but new content is simply forgotten. Genuinely, what happened?

I can back this up. It isn’t only their shelters.

I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.

My friend quit, and I’ve not given them a dime of my money since then.

I’m a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.

I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.

I used to say the Salvation Army’s disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.

They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.

Then I found out.

Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. That’s not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONE’s Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.

Don’t FUCKING give to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army is also ass to the workers. A good number of people join it, naively thinking that it’s doing good, and end up leaving cynical and beaten down. The management is hostile, if not outright abusive, and demand some ridiculous hours of it lower to mid-level staff. Don’t support these people.

They invited her to a personal talk so she could explain the situation in person.

‘Tis the season to say FUCK the Salvation Army.

Yesterday, I saw a few clips and videos on Dispatch, and let me tell you, I RAN to AO3 because there is so much material to work with (Robert's injuries, sad homelife, a will-they-won't-they with multiple people, and being friends with Waterboy (who will probably end up as the fandom's babygirl)). This will honestly probably become a pretty large fandom considering there are already over 150 fics just on AO3 even though it's only been a week and half since it's release. Can't wait to see what happens :)
