An artist's soul is perpetually in search of inspiration—be it a fallen leaf, a bright sky, or the warmth of a kullhad of masala chai on a lazy morning. It's the little things that spark creativity: the scent of a new book, the earthy aroma of soil after a fresh rain, or the lingering nostalgia of a forgotten village corner where childhood innocence was left behind. Equally powerful is the allure of the unknown—new places where high rises battle to reach the clouds, or a secluded temple perched atop a mountain, long ignored by all except the wind. These subtle moments and spaces become part of an artist’s palette.
For me, as a film composer, I seek to capture the essence of life through music. I don’t just write melodies; I try to tell stories that run parallel to the visuals. When I travel by train or bus, surrounded by the bustle of daily life, I immerse myself in the rhythm of existence around me. The chaos, the quiet, the rush, the pauses—all of it feeds my creativity.
Music, to me, is more than just an accompaniment. It’s a dialogue, a co-narrator to the story unfolding on screen. Sometimes, it should even dissolve into the scene, becoming part of the action, adding dimension without drawing attention. But it always starts from a clean slate, an empty canvas waiting to be filled with the perfect soundscape.
There are times when I wonder—what if the universe had granted me the gift of composing background scores for the situations in life itself? Imagine the challenge of creating music for moments that can never be rehearsed, like the unfolding of a memory, or the stillness of an unvisited temple. It’s both exhilarating and daunting.
And so, I accept this challenge. I’ll take a random image, a video, or even a piece of prose, and dive into it, letting it speak to me. From there, I’ll create a completely new sound—a fresh perspective, a new world of music. Each composition will be a new chapter, a unique story within the larger narrative of life.
Let’s begin this journey ♾️
