whole foods has always been expensive and a luxury (honestly more so in the past) but it was awesome before amazon acquired it i cant even lie... my mom worked there when i was a kid and they offered health insurance to employees for anyone who worked 20+ hours per week. her store was also unionized. and i remember getting the best treats there... it's very enshittified now

the only reason i go now is bc a lot of my staple foods are actually cheaper than the local chain stores... where half of everything is expired anyway
