Consumption and production of Art is the most important work anyone can do. All technical knowledge is honed in the practice of art. Somewhere along the way I forgot that in pursuit of financial security perceived social standing.

Lately, I've been thinking that I really don't know myself. I've spent a great deal of time and energy trying to allow others to feel comfortable around me. As I age, I realize that being overly accommodating has not served my personal growth well. I think that I am long past due in stepping into who I am for my own sake. Who I could be.

I have been out of college for about 6-7 months, I have not found a design job quite just yet. Honestly, for a while I was feeling pretty discouraged, not to the point of depression or anything just defeated. However, I had a much needed mental resurgence a week ago. It seems I had forgotten what was pushing me towards a life of art and design in the confusion of post-graduation uncertainty. I remember now that what I wanted to do with design is simply to “help people”. Help people lead better, easier, more efficient, more fulfilling lives. As I go forward I will hold onto that; whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated I have to stay diligent, there are a lot of people who need new ways to see and use things. Also I am taking this opportunity to announce a personal brand and store of furniture and other goods of my design, SolidOne. Stayed tuned!
