You stood there, staring down at your body in the bed. You were confused at first but then pissed. You died. You seriously fucking died in your sleep? Now you stood there staring at your body as you waited for someone to find you. You didn't know why your spirit stayed behind, but now you were a ghost, trapped in this fucking house.

Time moved weirdly, some days it moved fast, when the house was empty you never knew what time it was and since your family moved out, leaving your ghost behind, you never knew what time it was. Windows shut and no clocks anywhere in sight. You spent a lot of time in your room, just sitting, waiting for time to pass, for someone to move in to keep you company or give you entertainment. The afterlife was lonely, except for random ghosts that stopped in every now and then, through mirror portals in the bathroom. Some ghosts were nice, some disgusting and horrifying but no one ever stayed, it was just a stop in others ghosts journeys. You spent a lot of time staring in those mirrors, listening into the void at all the voices that called out, but you never wanted to leave. This was home after all.

Then a family moved in, 3 brothers, triplets. Matt drew the short straw, your room. He had heard of what happened in the house but you didn't exactly haunt people. you just hung out, your spirit wasn't negative, you didn't like to flicker lights or fuck with people. Either way matt was wary, he saged the room, thanks to the advice of his friends Sam and Colby, but the sage did nothing to you. It just made the room smell but you watched as it drove off the darker spirits. They hissed and ran back into the mirror scurrying away from the sage which you found interesting.

Matt settled in, time seemed to slow down again. You spent a lot of time watching Matt. He liked being in his room, writing in a journal and playing video games. When he'd leave his room, time would speed up again it seemed. It was like a fast forward till he came back. Then time slowed and you were with him, watching and observing. He seemed nice, quiet, he brought a warmth to the room that you enjoyed. He was like a warm light in the darkness of the afterlife.

You laid on his bed, it wasn't bad, but you missed your old soft pink sheets. Matt was in the bathroom, taking a shower. You stared at the ceiling fan, watching it spin and spin and spin. You missed the feeling of cool air on your skin, but everything just felt cold now. The bathroom door opened, then a piercing scream, making you startle. Matt was staring at you, clutching onto the towel around his waist. "Who are you?!" He yelled at you, "get out!" He screamed, looking around like he was looking for a weapon.

You stared at him, there was no way he was talking to you. You were dead. A ghost. Not living. He shouldn't be able to see you. "Why are you just staring?! Who are you?!" Matt was still yelling at you. But you were more confused than ever, laying on his bed in the pajamas with dogs on them that you died in. "I- uh.." you started but what were you supposed to say, how do you explain to him that you're just some dead girl in his room. Matt stared at you and you stared back. "Get out!" He yelled again.

You nodded, slowly getting up. You walked to the door, staring at it. "What're you doing? Get out!" Matt said, "I can't," you said. "You can't leave? Open the fucking door and leave!" Matt said like it was the most obvious thing ever. You reached for the handle but your hand just went through it. Matt's eyes widened, "what- what are you?" He asked and you looked down. "Spirit? Ghost? Whatever you wanna call it. I- I don't know why you can see me," you said, turning to face him.

His face turned pale, he was staring at a ghost, a real ghost. He had done ghost hurting with Sam and Colby and his brothers but nothing felt as real as this. "You're the- the girl... you-" he started and you nodded. "Yeah, I died here.. and now I can't leave.." you said, but to be fair it's not like you wanted to leave. "I saged the place, why didn't that get rid of you? Sam and Colby said it'd help." Matt said, still standing there, holding his towel and slightly shaking in fear now. "Well.. I mean it got rid of the darker spirits so.. it helped?" You said, trying to help him feel better for whatever reason, he seemed nice enough.

"Oh that's great! So there's demons here too! You know they should put that on the listing," Matt groaned, making you giggle. "You have two mirrors facing each other, that's a portal you know," you said, standing there at his door, feeling awkward now. This wasn't your room anymore, this was his and now you felt you were intruding. "Yeah.. I know.. so.. have you been here this whole time?" He asked and you nodded, "yeah.." you said and Matt sighed, thinking about all the embarrassing things he could've done.

"Why can I see you now?" Matt asked. You shrugged, "I really don't know.. I'm sorry.. let me see if I can like… go away," you said, closing your eyes as you tried to will yourself to disappear again. Matt watched you, he couldn't help but chuckle, watching you squeeze your eyes shut and try to disappear. "It's not working is it?" You asked, opening your eyes as Matt shook his head, "nope, still here in all your dog pajama glory," Matt chuckled. He seemed to relax, going to his drawers to grab clothes as you watched. "If I knew I was gonna die I would've picked something nicer.. but they are comfy," you shrugged.

Matt nodded, "im gonna.. go change." He said, walking back into the bathroom and shutting the door. You went back to sit on the bed, looking out the window at the night sky, the moon shining in all its fullness. It looked beautiful, you missed being outside. Matt came back out, seeing you sitting on his bed, staring out the window. As he looked at you he noticed the slight transparency you had. "Are you okay?" Matt asked softly, but it felt like a dumb thing to ask, especially to someone who was literally dead. "I guess I'm okay as a dead person can be," you shrugged.

"Hey, is that ice cream shop on the corner still open?" You asked, changing the subject but god you missed that place. "Oh, Harvey's? No, it closed last summer." Matt said, making you sigh. "See that's what I don't like about being dead, time moves so weirdly.. you say last summer but I don't even remember last summer.. I don't even know how long ive been dead.. when everyone left time just.. stopped existing." You said, sighing softly and Matt nodded. "It's been 6 years.." Matt said softly, making you gasp. It couldn't have been that long, there was no way.

"6 years? I've been dead 6 fucking years.. oh my god how much music have I missed?" You said and Matt chuckled, finding it funny that that's what you were worried about. Matt walked over to his computer, "what was your favorite artist?" Matt asked. You told him the random artist and he pulled it up, "they put out 4 albums," matt said making you shoot up and walk over to him, "4 fucking albums! Are you fucking kidding me!" You said and Matt laughed. "Well, I know what we're doing tonight," Matt said, and you smiled looking down at him, "really?" You asked. Matt nodded, "oh yeah, let's get this party started." Matt said.

You and Matt spent all night listening to all 4 albums, listening to them multiple times. He found you some tour videos and showed them to you as well. You guys binged everything from your favorite band. It was the best night you'd had since passing.
