Akatsuki No Yona really needs a second season. But the manga also needs to wrap up so the story’s complete. *sigh*

I was not kidding in the least about they didn’t need even half an episode to cover the Yellow Dragon joining the team. Laughing forever because Zeno (Jeno? Romanization is tricky.) is an absolute doll.

The final episode removed both the opening and ending animation to cram in as much content as possible, and they did condense the main points from multiple chapters and end on an out of context scene (that was also the opening scene of episode one) that would have skipped forward a couple of more chapters.

So where it left off as relates to the manga — Episode 23 stopped right at the end of chapter 40 of the manga. They skipped chapter 41 entirely (the fake dragon scale gag chapter), which aside from a little bit of lost introspection by Kija, is probably for the best really. I get a kick out of the chapter, but some of the humor isn’t particularly sensitive. Episode 24 covers chapter 42 & 43, and chapter 47. (Manga chapters 44-46 were the Su-Won in the Earth Kingdom chapters covered earlier in the anime.) The last scene of the army going through the pass is a reference to the opening of chapter 49, which skips the really important chapter 48. I’m a little disappointed because it got the key elements of those chapters, but skipped a good many character development scenes like the glimpse of Jea-Ha’s home village before the pirates and why he ran away, Yona stealing the sword to practice with from Hak, Yona trying to get Shin-ah to teach her swordsmanship, as well as Zeno and the other dragons bonding (including Shin-Ah cuddles!).

Basically, if you want to pick up from where the anime left off, I’d recommend starting with chapter 41 or 42 and read through 43, skip chapters 44 through 46, and then read from 47 onward.
