Soclesian Fact #7: diminutives
Did you know that the diminutive marker in Soclesian is -psi? Of course, not all nouns that end like this are necessarily diminutive forms of other nouns, though they usually do refer to something that is considered smaller in some regard. Some examples: bapsi - puppy karapsi - child (offspring) koropsi - child (unrelated) mapsi - kitten

Soclesian Fact #6: noun cases
Did you know that Soclesian has 62 grammatical cases? Each case has a very specific role and ultimately the cases negate the need to have adpositions as everything is explained in the noun itself.

Soclesian Fact #5: gender
Did you know that Soclesian has three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. Although the terms in English seem to correlate with anatomical gender, the words for grammatical genders in Soclesian bare no resemblance to their anatomical counterparts.
Masculine: SauĆ° from sa āgroupā and u, typical masculine stem vowel, and Ć°, an adjective marker.
Feminine: SaaĆ° from sa āgroupā and a, typical feminine stem vowel, and Ć°, an adjective marker.
Neuter: SaeĆ° from sa āgroupā and e, typical neuter stem vowel, and Ć°, an adjective marker.

Soclesian Fact #4: animacy
Did you know that Soclesian makes distinctions in its nouns depending on what kind of noun they are?
The two main groups are living (animate) and non-living (inanimate) and they are further divided into six smaller groups.
Animals and humans (dog, cat, man, woman)
Plants, bacteria, fungi etc (tree, flower, grass)
Disease names and illnesses (tuberculosis, the flu, diabetes)
Natural objects (rivers, mountains, sky)
Man-made objects (buildings, machines, technology)
Abstract nouns (love, health, jealousy, emotions, concepts etc.)

Did you know?
The native name of Soclesian, U SokotlÄzÄ k, is derived from sokot "popular, of the people" [adj] + lÄzÄ k "language" [n], itself from lÄzÄ "tongue" [n] + k (plural marker).
This means that the name of the language very literally means āthe popular tonguesā or āthe peopleās tonguesā.

Soclesian Fact #1: articles
For the eagle eyed among you, you may have noticed that on the homepage of www.soclesian.com, the language is referred to as āU SokotlÄzÄ kā while in the grammar section the āuā is replaced by an āiā.. Both of these letters are definite articles (they both mean ātheā), so why have two different ones?
Well, the difference in article is due to the fact that the two nouns that are being referred to possess different animacy. That is to say, the word ālÄzÄ kā, which means language, is a man-made noun while āsvĆvČaā, grammar, is an abstract noun.
This minor difference in state results in some pretty major differences in Soclesian, as you can see, although in this example, only two types of animacy are displayed while there are actually a total of six...
