Now, Kael knows he has a habit of getting pissy over the wrong thing and he knows he certainly takes issue with people trying to boss him about but even someone unapologetically irritable as Kael realises that there are some reactions that just don’t make sense. He takes a moment to hold his breath, resisting the urge to snap back, to tell her precisely where she ought to shove it — and resist he does, surprisingly. This does not mean, however, he is at all bound to react calmly — oh no, peaceful responses are far from being his area. “I don’t care what you saw, I care what I was about to see”, he states, all too bitterly, “You think I want to watch someone get crushed to a fucking bloody pulp, huh?” This isn’t entirely accurate. No, Kael does not want to see anyone get hit by a bus. That’d be a peculiar thing if it were so. The lie in his argument is simply the fact that he didn’t want to sit back and watch someone get hurt. Isn’t that normal—? “Whatever. The point is that you’re not a bloody pulp and that’s good enough for me.” — that’s one way to express concern, it seems.

She’ll lie through her teeth about anything and everything, she’ll spit sarcasm like true feelings. As she looks up at him, her eyes are unblinking. The adrenaline fro her near-death experience has drained, and now she’s sick of listening to him speak. She knows her thanks won’t be well received, so she tries again. ❝How am I supposed to properly thank you? Suck your dick right here on the sidewalk? Is that what you’d like?❞ Not that she’d do something like that, she just wants to push his buttons. Again, disregarding the fact that he just saved her life.
