tHINK THONKIN ABOUT SHIT RECENTLY. ABOUT MY BOY. first things first is the whole half british dealio that's being passed around.

if we take the rumor mill bit passed around by the gossipy woman in p4, she mentions the potential that nao/to is half &/or their parents are both half.

i think this is interesting because this had to come from somewhere. it's not just oh haha let me assume this kid genius is british which yeah sure rumors start over nothing all the time but usually there has to be some sort of base for it. a lot of the hearsay on na/oto seems to be fairly unrealistic but i do like this one & we are gonna spin it to be a bit more proper.

ultimately i think this is to sort of tie into ' ah na/oto is british u kno who else is a famous british detective its she/rlock hol/mes ' & considering that na/oto has various detective & literary themeing all over in character design, development, & flavor text i think its honestly not out of the expected for na/oto to have some british lineage to really dig deeper into that little homage.

now im not gonna say na/oto is half, i believe that if there is a claim to this, just like a/nn who is 1/4th american so is na/oto, being 1/4 british. his late grandmother is a british woman of whom his grandfather, who took him in when his parents died. which means one of his parents his half british & japanese, leading to n/aoto's 1/4th.

with this na/oto is english second language, esl, however since he doesn't actually speak in english often he's fairly rusty. he also lacks any accent because accents are developed by being in regions / countries rather than by learning a language so don't expect him to start suddenly say chewsday innit. just like how na/oto's speaking mannerisms are clear, proper, & concise so is their usage of english. na/oto may have visited countries abroad but they have always lived in japan. his accents will always be japanese esl.
