white tvl fans are like why are you watching the spooky gothic monster show and expecting NOT to hear severe racial slurs? don't you get it, these are FUN racial slurs. you didn't have a problem in seasons one and two where the black characters fought back. why don't you like their heads mounted on spikes as they apologize to their lynchers? 🙄 louis got called a BOY in season one, but getting called a nappy headed slave is too far suddenlyyy? 🙄🙄 I guess you're not a real fan of gothic horror. you loved a black girl when she killed whites in the jim crow south, and now that she's burning alone in hell forever it's too much, wowwwww 🙄🙄🙄 this is the problematic character show and you're attacking every character for punching down on marginalized groups now that it's those groups' turn to get punched down on 🙄🙄🙄🙄 stop mentioning the current u.s. president it's unrelated. you can't accept that the black lead is a selfish lying pimp and the brown lead is an evil smelly gremlin and the white lead has come to spill truth as the real main character 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 they hated jesus for the truth too
The plot of TVL:
The message of TVL:
This season was brought to you by the Theatre Des Vampires.
Cant believe TVL had no Lestat, no Gabriella, no racism, no sexism, and was just Louis taking pregnancy tests over and over again… all of them positive.. such a cliffhanger we didn’t even get to see Jerry Springers announce who the father is… 😔
Then when Louis wasn't taking pregnancy tests, he and Lemuel were taking turns blowing each other's backs out in between art gallery visits and tango lessons. Truly a blessed season of television
It was wild! And then Claudia and Madeleine were revealed to not have died in the trial bc Armand and Lestat are lying liars who lie… and they had a beach episode-
Remember the musical number with Louis singing, surrounded by trick or treaters dressed like him?
And then Paul and Grace visited him in an actual seance and said "we're sorry we didn't understand you and we love you and we're your guardian angels now" and Lestat forgot to finish draining Miss Lily and some of his blood was under her fingernails and she drank it and then she turned Miss Bricktop and they have a coven of Black vampire women who drink up predatory white men in Louisiana and every year they celebrate Claudia's birthday with her.
Loved the twist where it turned out Michael B. Jordan was in the show as Stack and is a contender as one of the baby’s fathers. Wonderful television no notes.
i think part of the appeal of armand for louis - or part of the armand justifies his abuse - is that armand presents himself as rational and logical. this is in contrast to lestat’s outbursts, mood swings, physical violence, occasional unwillingness to engage in debate w louis (i put you on this earth) and the way he will set and break terms on a whim (as long as you come home to me). abuse is inherently irrational, and most abusers rely on being unpredictable as one of their main tactics of control. armand’s abuse of louis isn’t “logical” but he insists there is a reason behind everything that he does - because louis himself is unstable, illogical, prone to acting out, armand must step in and act for his own protection. armand can hold long theological conversations with louis, armand will not be physically violent or raise his voice (unless louis acted out in a way that forced his hand, of course). what armand is doing is reasonable, so louis not liking or resisting the different ways armand controls his life is actually evidence of louis' own hysteria. ties in to the conversation of the dubai penthouse as akin to an asylum and louis as an institutionalized patient

idk I can tell that some tumblrinas are not up on fat politics because I see a lot of people saying stuff like “it’s better to be a little fat than waste your life trying to be thin” or like “it’s chic to have a little belly” like okay but there are fat people who are “a lot fat” and have “a lot of belly” which everyone is weirdly silent on all the time. Like the fattest person on earth still deserves to exist in human society with joy and dignity regardless of how they got to that weight or how many health conditions they have as a result of their personal actions…that should be everyone’s baseline here I’m not really sure what’s complicated about it

"Tutorial" on how to draw an OC with dwarfism (well, some of it).
Boring tired disclaimer: Keep in mind that this is an introductory "drawing" "tutorial" and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. Which happens to be true for everything in general.
You are heavily encouraged to do your own research because this does not contain everything you should know before making a character with any type of dwarfism.
Consider supporting me on ko-fi if you find this to be helpful.
If (when) you repost this on pinterest at least put a link to the original post somewhere..
when an artist draws fem versions of male characters but makes them skinnier smaller and less muscular................im not saying this is illegal but when their heart will be put on a scale it ain't gonna be lighter than a feather
proposal to replace the common usage of "chud" with "chump" so as to not throw around a word that means facist... it is better to have a chump son than a chud son but it still conveys the fact that he is a loser and you don't like him very much
like if you're looking for a word with a similar mouthfeel and loserly connotations you can slot into place where you or others have been using chud in a playful manner i think chump is just the ticket. fuck my chimp life okay my typo has spawned a beautiful new opportunity what is a chimp life and why wouldn't someone like to have one

Second picture for the @creatingblackcharacters Melanin Beam Challenge! I was mentally searching through different cartoons I enjoyed, trying to land on one that would both be nice to see featuring Black characters, but also would have an enhanced message... when I came to My Life as a Teenage Robot, I thought about how Jenny is very much accepted as a trans icon (rightly so); she was expected to have a specific role, but she wants to assert her own identity. She's a robot, who is figuring out how to be a teenager, and be seen as a girl. As a Black teenage robot girl, she navigates finding her own identity, there is the pressure to fit in with other people and sometimes try to "hide" the fact that she is a robot, but she is also expected to always be exceptional and save the day. She can't just NOT be any of these things, because it is all part of herself, and ultimately she finds friends who accept her, and gains a good relationship with her mom, so she has the space to grow and be comfortable with herself~
Another thing about this season is that it is just not sensual. There's sex sure, but that's just sex. And it's so weird for a vampire media to be so lacking in sensuality.
The "Come to me" of IWTV!Lestat was not only the seduction of Louis De Pointe Du Lac- it was a call to seduce us as well. It's the vampire story reeling us in, and we are both mesmerized and horrified on account of Louis. IWTV weaves its sensuality from the very first frame; Daniel Molloy in his own apartment, all alone in a pandemic. We are allowed to see him in an intimate setting. He is watching his own commercial, he is bored, he is listless and then he gets a package and suddenly he is breathing heavily- Daniel is afraid (fear and arousal both are enmeshed in vampiric stories). The way that scene is shot with Daniel going through his things to find the old recorder letting us get a glimpse of the life he has lived, to those tapes being played and the camera staying in on Daniel and letting us stay with Daniel as we hear the voices on the tape before it abruptly cuts off with the shout of a young Danny Molloy; I don't think Eric Bogosian has ever looked so good throughout IWTV/TVL as he did in that first scene. It is also here that for the first time we get to hear Louis! And oh how blessed are our ears to hear Jacob's voice in that cadence. Come to me is what he says to Daniel Molloy basically; I have watched (over) you, your whole life Daniel..Come to me. And off we go following Louis's voice to Dubai and then we are in his penthouse.
Usually it is the vampire who has to be invited in, but in IWTV we are being invited into Louis's coffin itself! ( Where's your coffin?/ You are standing in it). There's something so deliciously vulnerable in being invited into a vampire's "coffin" (where would you run to now?) and lo and behold it is here he wants to tell the journalist his story. It's intimate, vulnerable and yes it is sensuous. There's nowhere to escape, no room to move, they are trapped in the penthouse ( here's the horror, neither of them knows just how trapped they are and who has keys to the door- iPad controlled protective windows). I think we all talk about Louis's beauty but what about his sensuality? Louis is a sensuous being. All those feedings set up across from Daniel at the dinner table, the whole Rashidmand thing-> there always has been a very tangible push and pull between the interviewer and the interviewee. It's what made the Dubai setting come alive. This was what made it interesting. And not only in Dubai. Think about Louis in his red suit with Jonah. Think about Louis with Armand and gang going to hunt together for the first time. Think about him telling Armand " been thinking about you". Think about Louis and Armand's first time together and the shot of Louis in his undershirt with birth of Venus painting in the background ( if I am not mistaken), think about Louis in 1973 meeting Daniel for the first time- there's a lot going on in that convo including hints at Louis being suicidal ( what's in the bag? Is it a gun? are you an assassin? Are you here to kill me?)- but again there's always an underlying sensuality woven into these scenes. Episode 5 of s2 starts with Louis being playful with Daniel; Daniel is embarrassed with his "so we have never..." And Louis giggles out a 'No'. He goes onto tease him about if he wants to do it now since Armand lingers to watch the boats. What I am trying to say is in s1/s2 Louis has been filmed to be both beautiful and sensuous and playful in his sensuality.
I am not going to lie, this series always had a problem of subjecting Black bodies to the most graphic violence, but it also once knew how to show beauty and desire too. I will never not be mad about how Claudia and Madeline never got to kiss onscreen, some stupid decisions were made to have it so I am sure; but even then we knew how desire looks on Claudia. We saw it when the smell of Madeline's blood hits the air. Madeline getting her period and bleeding through leaving little droplets of blood all over the floor. Madeline saying she is leaving behind a trail, like in Hansel and Gretel and Claudia's fangs dropping. It's Claudia's sexual desire intermingling with her deepest wish to attain "womanhood". All of it filmed in a way that's just incredibly hot. What horror is it then that as Louis is draining Madeline, Claudia dives in for a taste? The blurring of lines and boundaries between her and her father-brother who later makes himself throw up the blood.
Vampirism is erotic. The monster has to penetrate the victim to suck out their life force to satiate itself. Think about Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla. Think about the ethereal vampire feverishly grabbing onto the hands of the young girl ( Laura) and confessing how she loves her. Carmilla is in parts rapturous in pleasure and in parts manic during her confession, and at night she crawls into Laura's bed to drink blood from her bosom with every intention of draining her dry.
Where is this 'terrific' eroticism in The Vampire Lestat? In IWTV, Lestat massacres the priest to get to Louis. Louis is stumbling and falling and Lestat crawls over to him, hands outstretched offering him a way to be all the beautiful things he is without the world ever hindering him from doing so. Louis accepts and of course not all of it is so simple or straightforward since he is reeling from his brother's death, but when the camera flashes onto Lestat, we see him drunk on Louis's blood. He is drunk on Louis. Again I ask you where is the horror intermingling with the erotic in TVL?
What this season has done, and which I think is another problem is that it's unnecessarily voyeuristic without having any intention to address this voyeurism in any meaningful way. Which is crazy because many interesting things could have been said about the voyueristic use of camera, in reflection of our current times where we don't really know if we will end up on the net because some asshole decided to film us and post it. But for it to be so the documentary style for the season would have had to be treated seriously and Rolin and co, just abandoned it halfway through.
So what we instead have is just an uncomfortable mess where the horror of abuse is not addressed but fetishized. (GabriellA fucking Jarda in the bathroom and we see it and hear it for a long long time), where it empties the well of sensuality and eroticism that IWTV built around Louis, only to brutalize him onscreen in the most horrifying of ways. In its lazy attempt to shock the audience, TVL sacrificed the balance IWTV mantained between the horrific and the erotic. Rolin's "serve more cunt" to Sam Reid ( who mind you had to starve himself to get the physique of TVL Lestat) does nothing to add to Lestat's sensuality and eroticism. Lestat gyrating and thrusting onstage is a crude attempt at 'sexiness' that IWTV!Louis could so easily suffuse Lestat with in his narrative. The thrall of vampirism, that terrifying and yet all encompassing swoon that humans like Daniel Molloy found themselves in, has been destroyed. TVL as a vampire media is a 'Failure'.
they need to start sequestering writers who are writing a followup to a critically popular television show like they do when cardinals elect the pope

I just know when Louis moved back to NOLA for a while, he had a whole floor of his townhouse for his wardrobe on one side and a washbowl, hood dryer chair and products on the other.
His Black hairstylist can even bring her kids and he's got a nice gaming setup for them and comfy couches to doze on. The first thing he asks them is "y'all eat? Go downstairs and tell Rashid to fix y'all something."
No, she never talks him into trying hair color, but he does gift her a new shop before he leaves the city.
Because that's what we do when we GOT MONEY.
