Tell Your Story!!!
We are looking for personal essays from Latin@s!
More info below:
Sobremesas publishes new material once a month introducing avant-garde Latin@ non-fiction, fiction and poetry from emerging and established artists. We feature creative and informative pieces that will elevate political discourse in the United States. At Sobremesas we of course worry and have our say on an assortment of issues, but we want to magnify the power of Latin@ faces, voices and experiences. For example, read Jennine Capó Crucet's New York Time's article on being the first to go to college, to get an idea about what we absolutely love from personal essays! We're looking in particular for work from young Latin@s between the ages of 18 and 35.
We read submissions all year round. Original pieces only! That means we will never accept anything published elsewhere–personal blogs included! Simultaneous submissions are encouraged. Simply let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere. (Congrats!) Bilingual pieces are accepted (English-Spanish and English-Portuguese pieces). We are currently not capable of accepting pieces exclusively in Spanish or Portuguese. Rights will return to you after publication. We just ask that you mention us in future publications! (Congrats again!) We hope to get back to you within two weeks. We also accept book, film and music reviews, as well as abuelita-style recipes! See below for more guidelines:

About
Sobremesas is an online Latino culture magazine whose sole purpose is to pass down stories and information from multiple points of view–ethnic, racial and cultural–and thereby nurture Latin@ brotherhood and sisterhood. Work for Sobremesas began in Summer 2015, but its publication is the result of decades of Latin American narratives colliding in the United States. Infused largely with storytelling but also conversations and tips, Sobremesas emulates these narratives at multiple levels, and seeks solidarity with diverse Latin@ voices and experiences. We hope you will join us!
