Completely forgot the way people online talk about the sex scenes in this book. “Does anyone else think the luridly described sex scenes written by the legendarily brutalised protagonist are kinda unpleasant 😭 I felt uncomfortable reading them” - now read that again, but slowly.

there are a lot of female characters where you can say that lesbian sex would fix them but it's kind of even more fun when it wouldn't. like clearly she wants to be having it but it would make everything worse and ruin her life. and i would like to see it.

Also Fritz’s full name being FitzChivalry (literally “son of Chivalry”) is so sad… at this point in time his entire identity is defined by him being the bastard son of his father, a prince. And he didn’t even seem to have (or doesn’t remember) his name given to him by his birth mother. He’s only six years old and is barely treated like a person, originally kept with the animals.

Regal, Verity, and Burrich talking about him and what they should do with him, what his presence means for the line of succession/politics IN FRONT OF HIM like he wasn’t even there made me so upset. Like wtf get this kid out of there, give him back to his mom!!
