i really do dislike how people utilize the term "unmonitored/unsupervised internet access" because on a regular basis they take issue with the internet part and not the neglect. i dont believe internet access is traumatizing, i think being neglected is.

#I feel like the main thing with unmonitored internet access & neglect is nobody's teaching them good internet safety #So its a lot easier to get into unsafe situations & stay there bc no one went “being online is okay but don't tolerate this”#And if someone does it tends to be too late/reactionary to bad things happening instead of being proactive #And then there's the death of safe properly moderated spaces for kids online. Obviously there was always going to be groomers #But its a lot easier to get into a shit situation when you're desperate to find friends online & have to be in more mature spaces #or when you think something is safe because it presents itself as such & why would they lie about that...#But I will say there's also just. A lot of undertagged suggestive/nsfw shit that needs to be tagged better #So even with monitoring its difficult to entirely weed shit out.#Saying this as someone who had periods of both monitored & unmonitored internet access #But yeah the main thing is the neglect oh my god if anyone paid more attention to me before shit went down I'd be so much better rn #Rb #internet safety
