❀ father’s day surprise (fluff) ❀ ugly dog (fluff)
WARNINGS angst, hurt/no comfort, maybe ooc but yolo
A/N i also love writing angst, it’s so fun. this was inspired by some lyrics of the cure from olivia rodrigo’s new album ;)
Jason was never the same.
He wasn’t that same happy kid who was failed by everyone he’s ever known. Not the same kid who looked up to his big brother and hoped to be as cool as him one day. Not the same kid who kicked evils in the butt in a costume. Because that kid was dead.
Now was a man, or a hollow shell of one.
A man who had so much love that had turned into anger and hatred. A man who didn’t know who he was anymore. A man who looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize his own face. Not with the scars. Those were practically the only thing he saw.
He saw someone who died by the Joker’s hands. The same criminal that was running free. The same criminal he couldn’t bring himself to kill.
But then he met you.
You worked at the library he often visited because books were the only thing grounding him. For a while reading brought him the stability he needed in order not to lose his shit. And for a while you were as well.
Jason saw you and couldn’t look away. Not that he wanted to. He just couldn’t help but stop and admire how beautiful you looked while doing your job. The little things he noticed about you from across the room.
It killed him since he figured he was out of your league. So he settled for watching you from a safe distance. Just until he got the courage to talk to you. Or at the very least tell him off because he was being such a creep.
But to his surprise, you asked him out. You noticed his stare a million times. He wasn’t as discreet as he thought he was.
By the fourth date, you officially became girlfriend and boyfriend. Jason figured having your love would heal him. That he’d feel no more pain. No more suffering. No more losing his sanity.
Over a matter of months you were at his apartment more than your own. You didn’t mind, you loved being there with him. He made you food, cuddled and pretended like he didn’t want to even though he did, laugh at your terrible jokes, even reading his favorite book to you.
The year mark hit and you told Jason you loved him. He knew it for a while but hearing you say it out loud didn’t relieve him like he thought it would.
It only made the hole in his heart contort into something ugly. But he pushed that away. Because you loved him and that was all the mattered…right?
Nights were spent curled up in each other’s arms. You barely had to say anything because the silence made up for it. You thought that was a good thing.
While you were loving him out loud, he was internally spiraling.
If you loved him as much as you said you did, why is he feeling this way? Why isn’t your love curing his pain? Why is he still feeling pain? Why aren’t you helping? Why isn’t your love enough?
Everything went downhill after that.
You were on your way to his apartment, packing a bag because you planned to stay a few days when you got a text from Jason.
Don’t bother coming.
That confused you more than anything. You texted him back only for him to leave you on read. So you called him only for the phone to go straight to voicemail.
You texted and called him before going over to his apartment. You knocked on the door for what it felt like hours until he opened it, just a crack. He refused to let you in and that pulled at your heartstrings.
You asked him about the text. Jason looked at you long and raw before slowly closing the door. You panicked and immediately started knocking and calling out to him again.
He didn’t answer you.
Days passed and you decided to give him some space. Maybe that’s what he needed. You’ve been spending some time very close and it was time for some distance. You expected that.
What you didn’t expect was Jason showing up to your apartment two weeks later and arguing with you. You were so confused because he kept talking about a cure and your love for him.
“You were supposed to be the cure.”
“You were supposed to heal me!”
“Why’s your love not enough?!”
You questioned it but he refused to answer them. You begged and pleaded for him to tell you something, anything. You loved him more than anything and seeing him like that was crushing your heart.
“What are you talking about?!”
But he wouldn’t open up to you. You assumed didn’t trust you. But the truth was that he didn’t trust himself. Not when was damaged goods.
By the end of the argument you both were in tears. No longer a couple. No longer lovers. Just two people not really understanding each other.
You sank to the floor, crying your heart out. You didn’t understand, not entirely why the love of your life broke your heart.
The worst part was that you didn’t even care about your pain. You just wanted to know what was hurting him so much he questioned his love for you. And now you’ll never find that out.
Jason watched you, torn between wanting to console you and wanting to walk away. But he couldn’t make his feet move towards you so he left entirely.
SUMMARY you and your kids plan a surprise breakfast for damian but you should have known you couldn’t sneak around an ex assassin
WORD COUNT 2.5k
WARNINGS pure fluff, damian being a softy for his family, reader and dami have three kids; leena (9), amir (6), elvira (6).
A/N i was supposed to post this on Father’s Day but better late than never amirite? if there are mistakes…no there isn’t…
You woke up with a plan.
Today was Father’s Day and you planned to make today special for your husband. You planned to wake up earlier than him (achieved), then wake up your kids to make a hearty breakfast with his favorite food.
You’ve had this planned for a while. After he surprised you with a trip to Jamaica for Mother’s Day, you decided to try and top his gift.
You tried so hard to figure out what the hell Damian wanted that he didn’t already have. You’ve known the man since you both were twelve. Now you were married with three kids and yet you still didn’t know what to get him.
Crazy right?
The only thing he expressed—which you were sure was a joke—was to have another baby. He wouldn’t be seeing another kid coming out of your body.
That’s exactly what you told him.
Though you were laughing at the same time so he probably thought you were joking as well.
Anyways, you searched for weeks until an opportunity fell right into your hands. You were driving your kids home from school when you spotted your old distant neighbor announcing that he was giving away his cows because he had no one to take care of them anymore.
You immediately stopped the car, barely giving your children time to react and hopped out the car. You spoke to the little old man and he told you the poor animals only had a matter of time before he had to kill them.
You couldn’t possibly let that happen. Not after what Damian told you about his batcow. So you offered to take the cows off his hands with a smile that practically covered your entire face.
You both made a deal and you’d get them all settled in the Father’s Day weekend. And luckily for you, Damian went to work on Saturday, just to keep track of things. That left you with ample time to get the cows and everything they would need so they could live comfortably on your land.
Damian came home from work way too tired to question your huge ass smile. He went right to sleep and stayed asleep on Sunday. He was always the early bird so him sleeping in this morning made your plan way easier.
As softly as you could, you slid out of his arms and out of bed. Your body shivered at the coolness of the hardwood floors under your warm feet.
You barely let that affect you as you went into the bathroom and quickly brushed your teeth. Then you tiptoed your way out of the room and towards Leena’s room.
You entered her room, closing the door behind you softly. Padding towards her bed you saw that she had the pillows over her head, sleeping soundly.
You picked the pillow off of her head and immediately her eyes opened. You cringed, she did that just like her damn father. It was so creepy and not only did you have to endure it from Damian, but your daughter as well.
“Lee baby,” you whispered, reaching to move a strand of hair from her face. “It’s time to make dad’s special breakfast.”
That immediately got her up. She grinned widely and sat up. She was also excited about this because she had made Damian a sword out of Lego pieces. He expressed to her about his love of swords and then the gift was born.
“Five minutes.” You hold up your hand. “Go brush your teeth, wash your face and grab your gift. Then meet me in the kitchen. And be quiet so daddy won’t hear you.”
Leena nodded her head, toothy grin still on as she slid off her bed and ran into her bathroom.
You snuck towards Amir’s room right after. Luckily for you, Amir and Elvira shared a bathroom so you didn’t have to make extra trips.
Amir was already sitting up in his bed when you walked into his room. Another one of your kids who got one of their father’s traits. He smiled as soon as he saw you.
“Mommy!” He flipped the sheets off of him and jumped off his bed, beelining towards you. You caught him and picked him up. Your smile matching his.
“Shhh honey,” you hushed. “You don’t want daddy hearing you. Remember this is his surprise.”
He copied the shushing motion with a nod of his head. “Daddy’s surprise. Sorry mommy.”
You laughed. “It’s okay baby. Now go ahead and brush your teeth and wash your face while I go wake your sister.”
He nodded and you let him down. “Wait here for mommy when you’re done, okay?”
You walked into the bathroom and into Elvira’s room. You had to send a prayer to the big guy above before you even reached her bed. Everyone in the family knew why.
All of your kids got something from Damian.
Leena got his smarts and strategy. Amir got his entire appearance, and little Elvira got his temper. Something you hated dealing with in the morning.
She liked to get a little scratchy and bitey when it was time to wake up. You absolutely hated it. You’ve lost count from how many times she’s bitten you or scratched you from waking her. Damian even got some scars from her.
Which was why you resorted to poking her with her softball bat. She groaned and rolled over. You poked her again and she grumbled something you honestly didn’t want to hear.
“Elvira.” You called out. She grumbled again, smacked her mattress twice then turned her body to face you. “Time to wake up sweetheart.”
“Mommy!” She whined, about to get loud but you shushed her before she had the chance. “Mommy it’s too early.”
You sighed and placed the bat down softly on the ground then headed over to her. “I know baby, but this is daddy’s big surprise. Leena and Amir are already waiting.”
Now that got her excited.
You were thankful she didn’t want to rip your head off from waking up so early.
Elvira jumped from her bed and headed into the bathroom without you even telling her what to do. That made your job a little easier.
When you and the twins met Leena in the kitchen, it was on. You worked on the pancakes and omelettes. Leena worked on the whipped cream and his coffee. Amir and Elvira played with the sprinkles, syrup and berries.
“Mommy look! I made Titus!” Amir shouted. You whipped around and placed a finger to your lips. “Oh sorry..”
You waved him off and looked at his Titus. It was really sprinkles on a plate that looked like nothing in particular. If you squinted and tilted your head, it sort of looked like a smiley face. But no dog that resembled Titus.
“It looks lovely, baby.” You kissed his head and turned back to the stove. You heard his giggle and your heart swelled.
After a while, you were now piling pancakes and omelettes on plates. You helped Amir and Elvira cut up fruits and put them around the pancakes.
Then Leena comes with the whipped cream and piled a huge amount on the pancakes and the fruits. Just how he liked it.
Damian pretended not to like sweets. Even though you’ve known him for a while, he still pretends. And you have to act like you don’t see him snacking on the sweetest candy you’ve ever seen and tasted before.
“Is daddy gonna like this?” Elvira asked when she saw you placing the plates on the tray.
“Of course he is, Vira. Dad likes everything.” Leena reassured her sister as she placed the cup of hot coffee on the tray. Just how he liked it.
After assembling the tray to make it look more aesthetically pleasing, you picked it up and walked towards your shared bedroom. Your kids following closely behind.
Your hip pushed the door open and to your surprise, your husband was sitting up in bed. Arms folded in front of him because he’s been waiting.
“Happy Father’s Day!” All three of your kids shouted before running and jumping on him. Damian smiled and caught all of them as they attempted to climb into his skin.
Your heart swelled with joy, so much it almost overwhelmed you. That sight right there could never get old. Your future with Damian Wayne could never get old. If your hands weren’t occupied, you’d snap a picture.
Damian pressed a kiss to each of their heads before his eyes landed back on you. Then his eyes dropped towards the tray of breakfast. “Beloved?”
You narrowed your eyes at him when you walked over. “You knew didn’t you?”
He reached out and circled his palm around your thigh. “What did you expect? We have three very rowdy children. Also, you are not as sneaky as you think you are.”
He pinched the back of your thigh, causing you to yelp. “I have some very strong words for you. But that’ll have to wait because the kids made you a very delicious breakfast.”
Damian watched you place the tray on his lap. The kids watched his face. “The kids huh?”
“Yes.” You blinked.
He chuckled then turned towards them. “It looks delicious, thank you.” He presses a kiss to Elvira’s temple.
“Come on try it dad! It’s really really good!” Leena squealed, bouncing on her knees. “I made the whipped cream by the way.”
Damian ate the entire thing. He couldn’t even hide his happiness if he wanted to. Not that he did. He was very happy. And very thankful that you were his wife and had three very thoughtful children.
After moving the tray onto the floor, Damian pulled you back onto the bed, holding you in his arms. Amir climbed onto you while the girls stayed nailed at his side.
“Dad! I have a gift for you!” Leena said excitedly before rolling off the bed and running out of the room.
Elvira looked at her with a frown. Then she turned towards Damian and you. “Gift? I was supposed to buy daddy a gift?”
You laughed and shook your head. “No baby, you didn’t have to buy daddy a gift.”
His chest rumbled with laughter. “Though it would be appreciated.”
“Damian.” You smacked his bare chest.
You barely had time to adjust your position when Leena came running back into the room and launching herself onto the bed.
With a large toothy grin, she handed Damian the brown box she didn’t bother to wrap.
Smiling so wide his face hurt, he grabbed the small box from her hands and stared at it. Just for a little. But Leena was impatient. “Dad, open it.”
You laughed at her whining. Then he opened the box and froze. Because inside was a sword made entirely of legos. It didn’t look the best but it was from his daughter, which meant it was perfect in his eyes.
He picked the toy sword out the box, holding it like it was glass. You watched his face and felt something in your chest tighten. He genuinely adored his children and sometimes it hurt you. In a happy way.
Leena looked at him expectantly. She picked at her fingernails. “Sooo? What do you think? Do you like it?”
“Honey…” he trailed off, finally tearing his eyes away from the gift. “This is the best present I have ever received. Thank you, Leena.”
She squealed and threw herself at him, hugging him tightly. He carefully put the sword back into the box before hugging her back, almost as tight as she was.
About after thirty minutes of all five of you on the bed, talking about silly things, you sent the kids to get dressed. Leena even volunteered to take the tray out of the room for you.
“We created some fantastic kids, didn’t we?” You snuggled more into his arms. Which were now wrapped around you entirely.
“You did, habibti.” He rubs his thumb in soft circles on your arm. “You did.”
“It takes two to tango.” You joked. He chuckled and planted a kiss at the crown of your head. “Also, there’s a part two of your surprise.”
“Beloved—“
“Mm-mm, don’t give me that.” You shook your head and reluctantly pulled away from him. You smacked his hands away when they reached for you again. “It’s waiting outside and for that I want you dressed.”
“I thought you liked me shirtless?”
“Don’t make me kill you on Father’s Day.” You pointed a finger at him. Without seeing his reaction you rolled off the bed and headed towards the closet.
“Surprise!”
“You brought me cows?” He saw the cows the night before. He was just too tired to question it. But he didn’t dare to say it out loud, he wanted you to surprise him. He wanted this surprise to be yours to tell.
“Your batcow really inspired me.” You said, reminiscing about his story he told you when you questioned the cow casually hanging on his front yard back when you both were ten.
“I see.” He nodded, a soft smile across his lips. Damian then pulled you close to him by the belt loop of your jeans. You melted into him and turned your head towards the field of cows and children.
Your children embraced the cows like family. Because they were family. Leena stood beside an all black cow with a white patch over its eye. She talked to it while simultaneously petting it. And it lets her because even animals know how kind spirited your children were.
Elvira ran in circles around a brown and white cow. Her laughter bubbling and carrying towards you and Damian. You smiled and tried not to burst into laughter as she smacked straight into one of them. She went tumbling into the ground still laughing.
Amir however laid down beside a black and white cow. The cow continued to eat the grass while Amir talked to it. Literally nothing important was being said by him. You were sure he was talking about the sky the way his eyes never left it.
“Curtesy of old man Warner. He sold his farm because he was getting old. He couldn’t find anyone to take care of them which meant they were days from being murdered.” You started, frowning at the thought of it.
He turned towards you. A new look in his eyes. More intense. More lovingly. If it was possible to buy the entire world for you, he’d do it in seconds.
You’ve seen it a hundred times before. And yet it never failed to make you squirm then blush under it. He was a man hopelessly in love with his wife.
“Have I ever told you that I love you?”
You grinned, teeth and all. “Only a million times. But…I wouldn’t mind another.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” You leaned your head on his shoulder just when he pulled you flush against his body.
You and Damian looked at the view ahead of you. This was the life you built together. Every struggle you both went through was worth it if it meant this was the result.
“Also,” you muttered but clear enough he heard you. “I invited your family.”

A/N: i listened to sun bleached flies while writing this…ugh i love that song real bad. this could have been a little more but i like pain
You died in Jason’s arms.
That was something he’ll never recover from.
Not when the woman who was supposed to love and care for him betrayed him and handed him to the joker. Not when he was ripped away from you and was tortured for what felt like eternity.
Not even when he came back from the dead. It changed him in the worst ways imaginable. But he’d get over that.
But when you, the one thing he prayed and begged to never lose, went limp in his arms. That’s when he knew he’d never come back. At least sane.
Jason loved you.
But not enough to save you.
You were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Innocently walking home from work when you were ambushed by a couple of thugs. You fought them off as best as you could, even managing to run away from them.
But the universe wasn’t on your side that night. You ran from one danger and in the hands of another.
Because the second you were free from those thugs, you were face to face with the one and only Joker. The same man who once took your lover away. The same man who broke him, made sure he was never the same.
The same man who spared you no mind as he struck you in the chest. Just because. He didn’t have anything against you, he didn’t even know who you were.
But he stabbed you. Once then twice for good measure. You felt it before you saw it, barely giving you a chance to defend yourself.
And to make matters worse, Jason was on patrol that night. You had just finished texting him that you were on your way home.
Something settled like rocks in his stomach. He knew something felt wrong. So he followed the route you always took when getting home from work.
Fear hit him smack in the chest when he noticed your purse on the ground. Your belongings were scattered across the pavement.
It took him seven minutes to find you. And when he did, what was left of his heart shattered into pieces beyond repair.
Because there you were, lying down on your back. Barely breathing, barely holding on.
Your chest burned with every breath. Each one getting shorter than the next. But you kept breathing. Or you tried to.
You tried so hard to hold on. Because you knew he’d find you. You just wished it wasn’t so late.
Jason dropped to his knees, he barely registered the pain. Not when you were half dead on the ground, grasping onto life. He cradled you in his arms, face crumbling at the sight.
He cupped your face and your body twitched ever so slightly. He barely caught it, though it kept breaking him.
He knew it was too late for you. He was too late for you. And now you had to pay the price for it.
Jason cried. He cried and begged, hoping that someone above would help him. Help you. Bring you back to him where you belonged.
“Don’t you dare die on me,” he looked into your dull eyes. Searching for an ounce of life. Even just a tiny bit. But nothing. “I can’t lose you.”
Your body sagged in his arms. You couldn’t hold on any longer. Your body was too weak. Too weak to even tell him that you loved him. Too weak to reach out to hold him. At least one last time.
“Please,” he sobbed into your neck. “Please bring her back to me.” He barely recognized his own voice. So whiny, so pathetic.
He’d never felt so helpless. And not even because he was beaten and untimely killed.
SUMMARY: Jason goes through Duke’s story and sees his girlfriend in a light he wasn’t used to
WARNINGS: nothing really ;)
A/N: just a little something for juneteeth ;). also the lioness does not concern herself with the remaining lyrics for dreams and nightmares
You were going to be there for an hour max.
That’s what you told Jason.
And right now, two hours later, Jason sat at the kitchen island stalking your location. You were still at the party Duke dragged you to, staying longer than intended.
He tried to call you, but you didn’t pick up. Not because you didn’t want to. But because your phone was long forgotten in your purse.
Jason sighed. He was worried, there was no doubt about that. But if you were in actual danger, you had Duke with you.
So you’d be fine.
But he had to be sure. That’s why he was sat at the island, sitting in front of one of the many plates your mom fixed for you both. Well, mostly for him.
He clicked on Duke’s story and his mouth practically hit the table.
There you were, his girlfriend, singing at the top of her lungs to a rap song in the smack center of the crowd. You barely registered Duke’s phone camera in your face as you did.
“Hold up wait a minute, ya’ll thought I was finished?!”
Duke was behind the camera, singing and hyping you up.
It was actually funny the way Jason barely recognized his own girlfriend. Yeah, you’ve been to parties before and you dance and sing. But this was entirely different.
You were quite literally the center of attention.
Your skin was sweaty yet your makeup stayed perfect. Your hair was frizzing from the humid bodies surrounding you. He caught the slight view of your shoes in Duke’s hand.
It flicked to the next story which was you getting lifted onto a table. Jason was thankful their hands were under your arms rather than on your waist.
Not that you would have let anyone touch you there.
Another girl was lifted onto the table as well and immediately you two started dancing and singing together. If Jason wasn’t your boyfriend, he would have thought the girl was your best friend.
The next story was you and the girl tangled up with each other. You were practically grinding on her and he couldn’t help but wish he was that girl.
The next one you and the girl switched places. She was now grinding on you and you had no choice but to catch what she was throwing on you.
“Jason ain’t gonna like this one.” Duke teased then laughed from behind the camera.
He couldn’t help but agree on that.
Not because you were dancing on the woman.
But because he wanted his caring, loving girlfriend to grind on him.
The last story was you jumping off the table with a wide smile. “Does Jason still follow you?!”
You shouted at Duke, who had barely heard you over the music. “I don’t know what you just said! But I heard Jason!”
“He’s probably watching this right now!” He shouted. “You know how mopey he gets when you’re not there!”
Jason scowled at the screen. How dare he call him mopey? It was a normal feeling for a boyfriend to miss his girlfriend.
“Awww I love him!” You shouted towards the camera, making a kissy face. “I love you Jay baby!”
“Yeah, we know.” Jason smiled knowing Duke rolled his eyes at that.
A/N: im enforcing the jason and duke being close agenda
SUMMARY: after exchanging information with dick, you two spend the day together
WARNINGS: fluff, dick being down bad for local girl, you finally kiss, no smut (sorry :/)
previous part last part
You weren’t expecting him to actually show up.
For some reason, you got into your own head and convinced yourself Dick was only flirting with you just because. Not because he was actually interested.
And those thoughts were squashed instantly when you opened the door to your home and was met with his familiar presence.
Dick looked you over and grinned wider.
It was then you saw the singular hibiscus flower in his hand. He held the flower up. “Pretty flower for a very pretty girl.”
You barely contained your blush when he raised the flower and tucked it into your hair. Right behind your ear. “Thank you, Dick.”
After locking up your door, you and Dick started walking the crowded streets of the island. The sun beamed down on you both, making your skin glow under the sunlight.
Dick kept looking between you and the road ahead of you two. The island was beautiful, but he deemed you much more stunning.
You shoved your hands in the pockets of your shorts when you finally decided to speak. “So, how long you here for?”
Dick smiled. “A week. So get used to seeing me pretty girl.”
“Is flirting like your only language or something?” You really didn’t have a problem, but his flirting was making you hotter than the sun was.
“Do you hate it?” He asked, rounding a guy who was standing in his path, getting closer to your side. He continued to walk nearly touching shoulders with you.
“No,” you said embarrassingly quick. Laughing you shook your head. “I don’t hate it at all.”
You two met for approximately thirty minutes and we’re now completely
“So tell me about the island.” He changed the subject with a smug smile, knowing he can get you flustered with little to no effort.
You looked at him with raised brows. “I’m sure whoever you’re on vacation with booked a tour.” That was a staple on the island. No family of tourists completed their vacation without a tour.
“Probably,” he shrugged, smirking. “But I’d much rather have one from you.”
And with that, you grabbed his hand and led him towards one of the many beaches on the island.
The smile on his face could not have gotten bigger. Dick was practically grinning from ear to ear from you touching him.
You two found yourselves on one of the most populated beaches. Your hand was still in his, not that he wanted to remove it. He could stay like this for eternity.
“This beach has a long history,” you started, looking ahead at the ocean waves. “My great great grandfather founded this place actually. They tried to take the credit away from him but he was too stubborn to let that happen.”
“What did he do?” He asked, genuinely curious.
Your eyes practically lit up when you looked at him. So Dick knew he was asking the right questions.
“He fought tooth and nail to be recognized as the founder of this beach. It took over twenty years for my great-great grandfather to get the recognition he deserved.” You told him, reminiscing on the times your grandmother told you stories about her father’s father.
“He seems like an inspiring man.” He looked at you, smiling softly.
“He was. Everyone talks about him so much it feels like I actually knew him.” You laughed softly, biting your lip.
“So that makes you like a nepo baby?”
You scoffed. “Don’t wish that on me. I have enough to worry about.”
He laughed, teeth and all. You didn’t even have to try to make him laugh. You just did. And you had no idea how much he loved that.
You being yourself.
Your eyes lit up again with another idea.
“I wanna show you something.”
Dick wasted no time to respond. “Lead the way, pretty girl.”
He would follow you off a cliff if you led him. Not that you would, but he definitely would. A small part of him felt pathetic he was acting so wimpy over you. But the bigger part shut that down immediately.
This was a new feeling, god forbid he wanted to try it out. And so far, it was working in his favor.
With your hand in his, you led the way. “Every time I wanted to get away from any and everyone, I came here. It’s like my safe haven.”
“Aw, we just met and you’re taking me to your favorite place?”
You turned back to face him for a moment. “Don’t make me regret this, Grayson. I will turn back around.”
He held his free hand up in mock surrender.
You turned back around and continued to walk ahead. “I have to warn you though, it’s a bit far. Not many people know about this place because no one wants to walk this far.”
“That’s okay,” he assured, grinning. “I happen to like talking to you.”
Laughing, you dragged him so instead of walking ahead of him, you were now walking side by side.
After a minute of silence he couldn’t take, you spoke up. “So, why is your family on vacation?”
“Why is any family on vacation?”
You balled your lips and elbowed his arm. “Don’t get smart, you know what I mean.”
He rubbed at the wounded spot with a chuckle. “My family works a lot. It was my dad who wanted to take a vacation, only to brood the entire time.”
You nodded your head, smirking. “Like your brother Jason?”
He hummed in agreement. “Much like. Only difference is that Jason loves to complain. But I know he’ll come around soon. He always does.”
You noticed him still rubbing the spot you elbowed him and placed your hand on his bicep. That caused his brain to momentarily short circuit.
“Sorry about hitting you so hard. I barely know my own strength.” You joked, flexing one arm.
He licked his lips, looking down at your face. God, he wanted to kiss you so bad.
The way your eyes sparkled when talking about something you loved. The way your lips were always in a smile. Even the way the hibiscus sat in your hair fascinated him.
He never felt this strong about someone this quick. Usually his relationships took a few moments to form but not with you. How could it not?
You were stunning, funny, and knowledgeable. That’s his type through and through. You were his type. And he wanted you to know that.
“Dick?” You called out, finally getting his attention after noticing him just staring at you for a moment.
You pretended not to notice that his gaze heated your skin. For your sake.
“Hm?”
“I asked you a question.”
“Which was…?” He looked at you confused.
“What do you do back your home? Do you have any hobbies or interests or literally anything besides staring at me.” You nudge him, thigh he didn’t budge.
Stupid hot guy with impressive muscles.
He scratched the nape of his neck, deciding how to answer your question. He couldn’t exactly tell you about his adventures as vigilante Nightwing.
So he settled on something more normal. “I’m a retired acrobat. I actually come from a family of them.”
Your eyes went wide at the fact. “You? You’re an acrobat? Why didn’t you tell me this back on the beach? Where you could have done a flip or something!”
“It didn’t come up then.” He teased, bringing his face close to yours. With a shameless laugh, you mushed his face away.
“Okay then,” your laughter settled. “When we get to my spot, you better do a flip for me.”
“For you? I’d do anything.”
You looked him up and down. “Yeah, I’m holding you to that pretty boy.”
He was about to comment about that pretty boy nickname but you talked before he could. “Now tell me more about your acrobat past. I need to match the skill to the body.”
The rest of the way to your favorite place, you two talked about everything under the sun. From family to silly little things about yourselves.
When you got there, Dick was confused as to why he saw nothing but leaves. He frowned and looked at you. He didn’t want to judge but it was hard not to when you just stared at the leaves with a smile.
He went to open his mouth to ask when you pushed a few leaves out the way and walked further into them.
Confused, he followed you, swatting a few leaves out of his way. He was careful not to lose you in the midst of the small looking jungle.
Then when you two finally got through it, he couldn’t help but allow his jaw to hit the floor.
Your favorite place was a waterfall.
It wasn’t huge, but it definitely wasn’t small.
The place was a breathtaking sight. Vibrant flowers in every corner you saw, accompanied by twice as many leaves.
And there sat in the middle was a waterfall. The water caught the sunlight in ways that had you both enchanted. Even you, who’ve seen this place thousands of times.
But Mother Nature always had a way of taking your breath away.
“Isn’t she a beauty?” You asked after a while of just staring at the masterpiece. You looked over at Dick, who was still captured in its beauty.
He only snapped out of it when you touched his bicep again. Every time you touched him, there was a shock. You felt it too, your poker face was better than his though.
“How did you even find a place like this?”
“It’s easy when you’re upset at your parents and keep walking just to prove a point.” You shrugged, moving to take your shirt off.
Dick didn’t mean to watch you, but he couldn’t look away. He watched as you stripped off your shorts and shirt, showing off your matching bikini.
You placed your hands on your hips and glanced at him. “Stop staring and strip pretty boy, we’re going swimming.”
He wasted no time to strip himself of his half buttoned shirt and his flip flops. He had already had on the swim trunks so he didn’t have you waiting for long.
You handed one your hand towards him. He went to put his hand in yours but you shook your head. “Your phone, so it’s not destroyed.”
“Oh,” he chuckled, fishing his phone from his pocket and handed it to you. Your fingers brushed and again your skin grew hot. Crazy how he got your skin hotter than the actual sun did.
You buried your phones under the pile of clothes and turned back towards him.
A devilish smirk played on your lips when your eyes landed on him. Safe to say not only did that look scare him, it turned him on.
“What’s that look for?” Dick was two seconds from grabbing you and kissing you. So he kept his arms glued to his side.
You stepped closer with a tilt of your head. “I recall you saying you’d do a flip for me.”
He chuckled and licked his lips. He loved how you were getting closer to him. “And I said I’d do anything.”
You motioned to the awaiting waterfall.
The drop wasn’t that high. You jumped plenty of times without getting hurt. So you knew a retired acrobat would have no issue jumping.
Dick walked towards the edge, making sure his shoulder brushed against yours. He looked down and realized it wasn’t that bad.
He turned towards you. One proposition on his mind. “If I do a flip off this, I get a kiss from you. No cheek kiss ‘cause that’s lame.”
You laughed, biting your lip. The poor boy was hung over for a kiss and who were you to deny him? So you nodded your head. “Okay, if you do a flip, I’ll give you a kiss.”
“No cheek kiss?”
“No cheek kiss.” You clarified with another nod.
A few moments later, Dick was setting himself up to flip down into the water. You watched him with stars in your eyes, having been needing to see this.
You couldn’t do a flip, so your jumps were lame.
Catching you off guard, Dick flipped off the edge. He couldn’t even do a regular backflip off the damn edge. No, he had to show off to you with a twist and hope that the more impressive the trick was, the bigger kiss you’d give him.
You watched over the edge just as he resurfaced in the water below. Both your smiled were too big to miss.
“Come on, pretty girl! Get down here with me!” He yelled from the water.
Making haste, you gave yourself a running start and jumped into the water as well.
When you resurfaced, he immediately grabbed you by the waist, barely giving you enough time to wipe the water from your eyes.
Your wet bodies pressed together shot a jolt through your body. It happened all to quick you barely had time to put your poker face on.
And Dick noticed immediately. “You felt that too? Please tell me you felt that too.”
You nodded slowly, a small smile on your lips. “It’s kind of hard not to when it’s been happening all day.”
Dick could damn near replace Santa Claus with the amount of jolliness that ran through his entire body.
“You could have fooled me.” He huffed, leaning closer.
“I could have.” You stayed put, having a trick up your sleeve.
He finally leaned in, ready to have your lips on his. It’s when his almost touched yours, you splashed water in his face.
Which caught him so off guard, you managed to leave his grip and attempt to run away in water.
You didn’t get very far. Two large hands find your waist again and pulled you against his hard body. You squealed when he fell back, submerging you both in the water.
“Dick!” Laughing, you shoved at his shoulder after resurfacing. You wiped the excess water from your face, getting a clear view of his beautiful face.
You heard his booming laugh not too far away from you. “So you get your jollies from almost drowning very beautiful girls?”
“Please,” he’s still laughing. “If you were drowning, I’d save you so fast you wouldn’t see it coming.”
“Charming.” You folded your arms over your chest.
He swam closer to you, not touching you yet. But his body was close enough you felt the heat of his with yours.
“I can be.” He muttered, towering over you once again. Even in the water. “Now…I believe you owe me a kiss.”
“Not a cheek kiss?”
“Not a cheek kiss.” He shook his head.
You instantly wrapped your arms around his neck, finally pressing your lips to his.
He immediately grabbed your hips and pulled your body impossibly closer to his. Your bodies almost melting together. That’s what he was hoping for anyways.
Your lips moved in sync with his, you were so engrossed with the kiss that you didn’t realize he hiked you up and wrapped your legs around his torso.
You moaned into his mouth when his tongue pushed past your lips. He swore he could have came in his pants from that sound alone.
The rest of the world started to fade, it felt like only you and Dick were here. Breathing in each other, the constant need to fuse into each other.
That’s all that mattered.
When air got harder to breathe, you two pulled away, breathing heavy. And simultaneously, you two broke into smiles.
“That was the best kiss I’ve ever had.” He breathed into your neck, smelling your heavenly scent over the water.
“Don’t lie to me.” You have him a look, playing with the hair on the nape of his neck.
“Do I look like I’m capable of lying?” Dick muttered into your neck. Of course he was but you didn’t need to know that.
You laughed, pulling him closer. “You’re something else, Dick Grayson.”
“What does that mean?” He asked, finally pulling away from your neck.
“It can mean whatever you want it to mean.” You threw his own words back at him, then laughed like a crazy woman.
He smiled, splashing you with water.
“Dick!” You shrieked.
“What’s wrong?” He looked over you to make sure he didn’t hurt you or something.

2k words whew
with clark kent fucking you like that, you don’t think you’re making it out alive.
well, your fault for trying to experiment on a poor, farm-grown kryptonian.
.
on monday, on the evening, you decided that you could begin your sick little experiment of conditioning on clark. after reading an article about it online, you wanted your alien boyfriend to be your lab-rat for it, and saw no apparent downsides to the experiment, so you went on with it.
starting with the trigger, you decided for it to be a duck emoji. weird enough for clark to be confused, not too weird for it to have him worrying like the sweetheart he is. ten minutes before you arrived home after work, you had sent him a singular duck emoji with no context or follow-up to it, which, as expected, had your poor clarkie as confused as ever. you smiled when he immediately texted back with ‘???’—success. as soon as you arrived home, you barely let him finish his questioning before pouncing on him, interrupting his sentence with a kiss he welcomed with open arms.
that night, you rode the man to the moon and back—gave him such mind-numbing pleasure that he couldn’t even bother to remember his previous confusion about the duck emoji.
and so, with the first day being a success, you repeated the process.
every day following that one, you would do the same thing—no texts or news all day, a duck emoji ten minutes before coming home, mind-blowing sex.
after a few days of repeating the process, you began to space out these encounters, opting to send the duck emoji every two to three days—a great way to keep the man on his toes, anticipating, waiting for the next time you'd send him that emoji.
then came the most awaited experiment—your greatest mistake.
it was on a friday night that you had decided tonight was the night. you had sent clark the usual duck emoji, smirking as he had immediately seen the text. however, when you arrived home, it wasn't like usual. usually, upon sending the emoji, you'd pounce on him and drag him to the bedroom. tonight, however? radio silence. well, not quite, but that's it felt to clark. you didn't give him those bedroom eyes you usually did on nights you were feeling particularly needy, you insisted on taking a shower all by yourself (he almost crumbled at that) and after dinner, you lounged on the couch to watch a tv show without even asking him to follow you! you just did!
the thing about clark kent is, he's a gentleman through and through. his ma had raised him to be one, and for christ's sake, he was superman! how could he not be a gentleman? but, he sympathizes with himself, you can't spell gentlemna without man, and clark was a man before he was anything else. a very aroused and hopelssly in love man, at that.
he stands awkwardly in the doorway of the living room, staring at you. you noticed, of course, but this wasn't unusual. clark has always had sort of weird quirks—you had always found them endearing. "is something the matter, honey?" your sirupy voice cut through his stream of thought, and suddenly his eyes focus again, gaze meeting yours.
clark has his phone in hand, and he brings it up to look back at the duck emoji you had sent. duck meant sex. you wanted this. he can indulge. you want this.
he knows you do. you sent the text, and he feels like he can almost smell your arousal and it's driving him fucking insane because he just wants to dive in it and taste it and fuck you everywhere so the entire place smells like you and-
in the blink of an eye, his phone is abandonned and he's on you, lips smashed against yours. you barely have the time to react but you do, arms now hanging around his thick neck. his hand latches itself onto your cheeks, fingers pressing into both of them, urging you to open your mouth. as soon as you do, his tongue, which was inhumanely long, snaked into your cavern, exploring its depths. he moaned at the taste of your saliva, almost melting into you as if the flavor of you was his ultimate salvation.
noticing the lack of air filling your lungs, he pulled away, his eyes softening at the sight of you catching your breath. "c-clark... what's... whta's gotten into you?" you licked your lips, face flushed. he looks at you like a puppy begging for its treat. "the emoji... you sent the emoji but you didn't... i thought..." his mind is a rush, moving at a thousand miles per hour as his entire body is begging him to rip your clothes off and take you.
he gives up, his head falling into the crook of your neck. "i just... i really need to fuck you, sweetheart." and as he's confessing this, his hand is gliding towards the waistband of your bottoms, sliding swiftly underneath it.
you think you could ascend.
you bite your lip, rendered mute at the sheer tension of the moment. "i know you want it, baby..." he scoffs, eyes closed. "can smell it."
curse him for being such a dangerously hot and multi-abled alien.
his hand makes its way underneath your panties, finger running through your slit, collecting the slick you've been trying to keep to yourself for the past hour. "ah..." you let out a low sound, almost imperceptible but clark was so hyper-focused on you that the little moan made him shudder.
he uses his forearm to push himself upwards, his hand escaping your bottoms to rush up to his mouth, and when you look at him, you gasp, feeling your walls clench.
because clark has never looked this feral.
his eyes were half-lidded and impossibly dark, his adam's apple bobbing as he swallows your juices, eyes nearly rolling back at the taste. he moans, his cock twitching and growing inside his sweatpants.
"you're gonna give it t'me, right sweetie?" he asks in that low, sultry voice that he only allows himself to use when he'd rather die than not touch you.
the eager nod you gave him marked the moment you knew you were done for.
.
how long has it been? you don't know. you don't know anything, actually. your brain is fogged with how clark was pounding you into the fuzzy carpet, your eyes crossing when the buds running along his dick grazed against the ridges of your walls, the added sensation making you spasm. "f-ffuck-! clark- oh my god, ohmygod—" you can barely form a sentence, let alone link two words together when he knocks at your cervix, your tits bouncing in rhythm with every thrust.
and clark isn't even listening to you, his eyes laser-focused on the sight of his cock splitting you open repeatedly, a vein bulging on his forehead at his intense use of his x-ray vision. "look at that, b-baby... look..." and you don't even bother, too lost in the ecstasy. he sees it all though, the strings of your arousal clinging to his tip every time he pulls away, the ridged of your pussy hooking onto his buds, the contractions of your muscles.
he finally manages to pull his eyes away from the sight, only to be met with the even prettier, albeit messier sight of your fucked out face. tears and drool glossed your skin, your eyes rolled back nearly to the back of your skull, throwing your head back when clark's hips stutter against yours, a white-hot wave washing over him over the sight.
he stilled when his buds hardened and hooked onto your walls, pulling him impossibly deep as he shoots buckets worth of cum deep into your womb. "a-ah! holy sh- hmm, fffuck, baby- i- fuck!" he sobs, jerking down towards you and you moan at the feeling of him filling you up once more, droplets of his sweat dripping onto your buzzing skin.
despite his orgasm, he doesn't stop, "n-need m-moree- needa fill you up-! ah, fuck!" his voice jumps up an octave when his buds finally relax again, allowing him to keep pistoning into you. "d-don't stop, clark! please dont- oh-!" he suddenly grabs your thighs, throwing them over his shoulders before beeending down, succesfully folding you in half. his face is now slotted right in front of yours, and the eye contact is so intense you almost feel shy under his gaze.
a mating press. clark kent had you in a fucking mating press.
you get lost in his ocean blue eyes, barely able to keep the eye conatct when he fucks you almost like he hated you, digging in your pussy. "you're... you're so beautiful, honey... so fucking pretty- all f'me, yeah? all f'me?" you nod, hands pressing against the back of his head to bring him impossiby closer to you, "all for you, clarkie," you confirmed being hastily pressing his against you, imprisoning him in a feverish kiss. clark moans into your mouth, eyes closing. you jolt slightly when you feel a tear drip down on your cheek, peeling your eyes open to see clark crying.
he pulls away, gasping for air as his throat restricts. "i l-love you, love you s'much— need you so, ngh, so bad... wanna breed ya'..." he sobs, whimpering for you. seeing clark become such a slave to his love for you had an inescapable effect on you, and your orgasm was almost immediate. you came with a gasp, the pleasure being so heavy that your eyes had given up on their function, unfocusing and leaving you with the blurry image of clark's flushed expression. your back arched as cream dribbled out of your hole, creating a white ring around clark's base.
in the midst of your orgasm, he pulls out, making you whine for the few seconds your face isn't smushed against the carpet because in a matter of moments, your world tilted before you found yourself face down ass up for your boyfriend. he pressed a hand on your back, urging a deeper arch. "m'sorry baby, m'so sorry..." he apologizes for the his unceremonial behavior but his apologies fall on deaf ears as you couldn't be happier.
your hands clutch the fluff of the carpet when he slams back into you, kneading the flesh of your ass. "just... just need this. s'your fault for making me wait... so long.. to have you- ngh, gosh..." he's hypnotized by the rippling of your ass, and the way your back bends impossibly for a second each time he rams back inside you, pressing you further into the carpet.
with clark kent fucking you like that, you really don’t think you’re making it out alive.
well, your fault for trying to experiment on a poor, farm-grown kryptonian.
your moans are rhythmic, matching the pace of his hips. leaning in, he wraps an arm around you to squeeze your tits, massaging them and rubbing your hardened nipples. "so obedient..." his comment makes your walls flutter around his fat cock. he begins to roll his hips, not quite thrusting. he presses against you, making you drool. "nghhh... fffuuuck... love you... so much.. c-clark-!" you slurred, going crazy at the sensation of his buds hardening slowly again, hooking onto your insides.
"w-want your cum-! want you to b-breed me!" you egged him on, "yeah? y'want it, baby? oh gosh, i'm cumming, m'cummingm'cumming-" he gritted, spilling into you once more. "oh my god! oh god, sweetheart!" he whined, your name escaping him as his hips bucked again, releasing rope upon rope inside you. his orgasm triggered yours, drops of your release trickled down onto the carpet before his hand snaked down to your clit, rubbing furiously and suddenly an intense stream released itself onto the now soaked carpet, the intensity of both of your orgasms making the two of you collaspe in a heap.
he layed on top of you, both of you catching your breaths. "i feel so... sticky." he remarked, "shit... i ruined the carpet." you groaned, knitting your eyebrows together.
a silence settled in, before you broke it. "i'm glad my experiment worked." a beat passes before he reacts, "experiment?"
"i tried conditioning you into associating sex with the duck emoji. it worked."
clarks hums, choosing not to react any further.
a few days later, minutes after the end of your shift, you receive a text from clark.

You are mad at Zuko. Again.
He is a good person. He ended a war for fuck’s sake— one that lasted for over one hundred years. At sixteen, mind you. He could’ve easily said, to hell with you all, enjoy the dictator.
He doesn’t deserve this.
It was bad enough that the chancellor came along. You have arranged for Concubine Saiyo to accompany him, again. You also brought guards. Half a dozen of them. He’s staring at two of them right now, sitting way too close to you.
The strategist had sent them here, as if you alone weren’t worth a dozen soldiers yourself. He couldn’t even make it up if he tried— that’s the criteria that needed to be met in order to be accepted into the military’s elite unit.
He knows you could’ve easily declined the assistance, you just chose not to— this is you sending him a message. One he heard loud and clear last time, when you stormed back into his chambers after chasing that servant.
There was a sudden burst of light at first, making him turn to see what caused it. As he was doing so, the smell of something burning hit his nose.
You were burning his curtain to a crisp.
It wasn’t until the ash eventually got swept away by the wind when he looked at you, only to rudely be told to, “Get a fucking door.”
There was no forgetting the cold look in your eye or the sharp tone you used to cut into him in that moment.
“I won’t bother to remind you of your place, so let me remind you of mine— I’m here to keep you on that fucking throne. If your alliances were to have seen what that servant had just witnessed, they will question your intentions. They will question everything— starting with the fact that you still don't have an heir. You’ve come too far, worked too hard to mess this up. I won’t allow you to— I refuse.”
And then.
“Never. Touch me. Again.”
That was the hardest part to hear— he held you knowing he’d never hurt you, and yet, he still did.
You went on to pretend as if nothing had ever happened. No silent treatment. No smart, overly formal remarks meant to provoke him.
You continued to be his advisor.
Just not his friend.
—
Despite all the murderous air that’s recently settled in the Silk District, it’s still as magnetic as ever.
It was more than just brothels. It was endless entertainment. Sprawling markets. Exotic goods. Diverse cuisines. Festivals. You couldn’t even say the brothels were “just brothels”, the courtesans were gold standard.
It wasn’t just people from all over the nation that visited— it was people from all over the world. And for that, there’s many hotels, luxurious ones. The owner of the hotel you’re staying in was generous enough to completely shut it down for the Fire Lord’s visit.
Zuko usually doesn't require such excessive accommodations. There was a point in time when he didn't even have a roof over his head, let alone a bed. Not to mention he starved for the entirety of it— that’s not exactly something that leaves you.
It really doesn’t take much to make him happy.
He couldn’t say the same for most, if not all, the company he brought today, which is why he held off on saying anything other than a simple thank you.
The owner and the manager were waiting outside at the time of your arrival, more than happy to welcome their most special guests with refreshments. The soldiers were tasked to be Saiyo’s food taster for the trip. Yet you absentmindedly took on the task, taking a sip of the mango juice before grabbing another glass from the tray and handing it to her. You’re no stranger to travel, but you seem awfully familiar with the place.
Perhaps it has something to do with the man that just called out your name.
“My…” The man continues to walk up to you and Zuko can't help but notice how mesmerized the bastard looks. “You’re as lovely as ever.”
The look Zuko gave the guards was nothing short of startling. They knew he was a peaceful man, so the fact that he even had the capability of exuding such dark energy sent chills running down their spines.
Instantly, they unsheathed their swords and stepped forward. The worst part of it all, the stranger couldn’t feel any less threatened by the act. He holds his hands up in innocence and chuckles.
The man had long, brown hair with half of it worn up in a knot. Draped in a loose fitting robe that revealed a muscular physique. Tall. Green, cat-like eyes.
He’s very attractive.
Unfortunately.
“It’s fine,” you murmur, signaling for the guards to lower their swords. There’s not much enthusiasm in your tone as you greet him back, “Ryuko.”
“I must say it’s not very surprising to see you wearing the imperial crest on your robe, you’ve always been a clever one,” his grin grows, as confident as ever.
You have no idea how to respond to that. “And you’re…”
“The newest council member of the district,” he reveals, then redirects his attention to Zuko. “Your Majesty,” he offers a subtle bow, “Please excuse my manners— I was not aware I’d be running into an old friend today. It’s a pleasure to welcome your arrival to the district.”
The apology does nothing to ease Zuko’s irritation as he continues to assess the councilman like he was some threat.
“Likewise.”
It’s a harsh crowd, not that Ryuko cares. If anything, he expects it from those that come from the Royal Capital. Pompous fucks.
Oh well. Work is work. At least some parts of it will be more interesting now.
—
The Fire Lord can’t help but thank the gods for Concubine Saiyo’s penchant for gossip and general nosiness.
“It seems your old friend may have had a bit of a crush on you,” the concubine says with a light giggle.
Ryuko stayed for a little longer, revealing he’d be at the new facility for the majority of your week-long stay.
“You’re definitely not wrong,” you suppress a laugh, taking another sip of wine. “We were engaged at one point.”
Zuko stops mid-chew.
“Oh? May I ask what happened?”
“I had a bit of a rebellious phase and it came to an end,” you were comfortable enough to reveal.
The mood of tonight’s dinner leaned more towards the intimate side. You wouldn’t be the only one sharing personal details— the chamberlain was just complaining about his daughter not very long ago. Though you’re sure some of the wine you’ve been sipping on all evening helped.
“Care to share the details of this rebellious phase of yours?” the chamberlain shyly asks— it seems he had the penchant for gossip as well.
Since it’s the chamberlain asking and you’re looking to turn it into a learning lesson in your slightly inebriated state, you decide to humor him.
“Well,” you sigh, wondering where to start. “I moved here shortly after turning eighteen and stayed for a little over a year. It’s a wonderful place, really— very lively. Shortly after moving, I met a girl at the market. Her name was Cyra and she was a courtesan. Anyways, she was the first friend I made here—“
Saiyo puts a hand over her mouth. “Did she recruit you?”
“Saiyo, please,” Zuko snaps at her, already struggling with the fact that you were engaged. He did not need the image of you fucking more men in his head right now.
“I’m sorry, My Lord!” she squeaks out.
“I wouldn’t say she recruited me.”
“What?” his tone hardened, it goes unnoticed given everyone else’s shock. It’s a little insulting.
“Some of the girls in the brothel she worked for were firebenders and I ended up being an instructor of some sorts to elevate their fire dances. Fire dancing tends to be energetic, which is great for festivals, but not for the songs they sing and instruments they play. So, I helped them make their dances look more graceful.”
Their madam was quite generous with your compensation. You went on to give more private lessons at other brothels and somehow became a part of an underground society filled with the district’s elite. That was where you met Ryuko.
The people of the silk district didn’t care so much about what class you were in. If you had something interesting to offer, whether it be a courtesan who’s gained notoriety from simply being unforgettable or a fighter who people could confidently place their bets on, you were considered important.
Ryuko ran a fight club. He also accepted money from wealthy merchants and business owners on the side whenever they needed one of his fighters to do some of their dirty work for them— you only found out the morning his home was raided, which led to his arrest.
“And yeah— he went off to prison and I went back home.” The room’s silent, everyone‘s just staring at you with their eyes wide. “Anyways, that’s why it’s important to offer assistance, especially when it comes to a place like this. Not add more violence.”
The chancellor looks away in shame. Zuko’s not looking at you anymore, either. There is a lot he wants to say right now, many of them being questions like, who in their right mind allowed a fucking criminal to be a member of the council?
“Do you still love him?”
That as well. Thank you, Saiyo.
You hum. “I was young, I’m not sure if I truly ever did. Looking back, I don’t think the engagement would’ve lasted.”
“I see,” she took another sip of wine. “Well, I think it’s wonderful that you had the chance to explore the world for some time. I’m sure you have better judgement because of it.”
“Thank you. I’d say so, too.”
—
Accepting your fathers initial offer to bring guards was a decision made with a scattered mind and empty stomach.
The entire purpose of opening a rehabilitation program was so people could be treated with dignity and you didn’t consider how showing up with multiple guards would look up until the last moment. So to avoid looking wary of the very people you once ate meals and danced with, you only brought only one along and assigned him to the chancellor.
He’s not any more sheltered than Saiyo, and if the presence of a guard is what’ll prevent him from fainting at the sight of someone covered in tattoos, then so be it.
It didn’t take him long to figure it out.
“I can assure you I don’t need a bodyguard,” he forces out a laugh. “I understand you kids had your adventures, but—“
“Chancellor, you’re not referring to the time my father exiled me from the nation at thirteen years old, are you?” Zuko dryly asks, instantly killing the mood.
“No, no— never,” the old man stutters. “Your other adventures, w-with your friends!”
He hums. “I see.”
You stay quiet throughout the exchange, sticking to your new rule of only speaking to Zuko when you actually need to tell him something. Even if you had a change of heart, you’re not sure how that would go. He’s grown to be more sarcastic with his answers as of late, and you’d rather not be on the receiving end of it, for obvious reasons.
This is the first time you’ve felt any sympathy for the Chancellor. But at least he’s able to walk away.
The Fire Lord doesn’t allow you to do that. He spends the day quietly trailing behind you, keeping you somewhat within his reach. Not overbearing, but noticeable. To you, at least.
The new facility is bigger than the one in Republic City. A two-story with high ceilings and plenty of rooms. Lots of natural sunlight.
“They’re going to be living it up like kings in here, aren’t they?” Your comments directed more towards Jin, who’s been working day and night since his arrival. There’s a deadline and it seems like he’s trying to cut it in half— you appreciate a hard worker when you see one.
“Yes, they are,” he hums with satisfaction.
He’s a sweet man. You’re glad the Lord has been more receptive of him compared to last time.
“And here we have the meditation room,” Jin reveals. “It might be a little difficult getting them to calm their minds at first, but it’ll quickly become a favorite, as it did with—“
Jin’s cut off by random knocks. You both turn around to find the Fire Lord’s knuckles against the freshly painted wall.
It’s difficult to pinpoint what’s so awkward about it. It just looks odd. Could it be due to Jin’s immediate reaction? He fixed his posture, looking as if he were about to get yelled at.
“…Is everything to your liking, Lord Zuko?”
Your lips stay shut, averting your gaze from the man as he looks back at the director and makes an attempt at being polite.
“Mhm,” Zuko pulls his hand away from the wall, unaware of how uncomfortable Jin is at the moment. “Very sturdy.”
“Yes, my Lord,” he nods, a wave of relief crashing over him. “It’s wonderful for absorbing sound.”
“I see that— excellent work.” Zuko’s bored face doesn’t match his sudden enthusiasm. There’s a bit of a stare off afterwards, and that’s when Zuko finally notices how nervous the director is. It annoys him. “You may continue.”
“O-of course, my Lord.”
The tour goes on for another thirty minutes before you find yourselves in the backyard for lunch with the rest of the volunteers… and the Chamberlain, who you’re sure has been utterly useless in all the time you’ve been here. Still, he’s actually not all that bad to be around, and you hand him a plate.
You’re one of the last to go up to the long table that’s filled with various dishes, grabbing a little bit of everything as you walk along it.
Until you run into something at the very end, leaving you quietly startled.
“My apologies.”
“Oh.” You wouldn’t call your reaction to that familiar voice negative. You did refuse to apologize, though. “Didn’t see you there.”
“That’s alright,” Ryuko smiles, then cheekily adds another small portion of food onto your plate. “Are you on your break right now?”
“I guess,” you murmur, walking to the other side of the table, not missing how he just comes along. “May I ask why you’re following me right now?”
“Well, I was hoping we could talk.”
You deadpan. “We already are.”
“Privately,” he persists. “Just 10 minutes, please. That's all I need for an apology and explanation.”
“I’m not angry with you and there’s nothing to explain.”
“For you, perhaps. But for me?” He places his hand over his chest, eyes filled with that same stubborn look. “I’d really like to do the right thing here.”
At first you sigh, wondering why you can’t just eat your food in peace. Then you find your eyes trailing towards the table where the Lord and the Chamberlain are currently seated, along with the guard. It’s the one in the bun you’re worried about, but he seems to be in his own head right now as he silently eats, leaving the other two to conserve among themselves.
“Do you need to ask for permission?” Ryuko sounds slightly concerned when he asks.
You shouldn’t feel the need to, it’s not like you’d get in trouble. But the way your chest tightens is hard to ignore.
“No, never.” You rip your gaze away from the table to look at Ryuko again. “Fine. Ten minutes.”
—
Zuko’s not sure why you think he can’t see you. From his peripheral vision, he saw everything— you running into whatever his name is, the whole dance you two did around that table, and then you staring at him before running off with that man.
Or shall he say criminal?
It’s been over nine minutes since then and he’s currently counting down the seconds until it becomes ten.
Is that unfair? Sure.
Ten.
You may not be his lover, and made it clear that you never will be, but guess what?
Seven.
He’s still your boss.
Six.
You have a long list of duties and he is prepared to make that list even longer.
Three.
Two.
…One.
“Where are you going, my Lord?” the Chancellor asks, surprised at how he abruptly stood.
“You have a guard, you’ll be fine.” He waves a dismissive hand as he begins to walk away from the man he just offended.
The facility doesn’t have many furnishings at the moment, you could only imagine how loud his footsteps would be. Luckily, one of his many talents is the ability to go unnoticed, all thanks to his time spent as a fugitive. It’s not like he’s tiptoeing and hiding behind walls, either. He’s just quiet— even when his eye twitched after hearing a tone that was far too hushed for his liking.
It grows clearer the closer he gets, his footsteps leading him towards the second kitchen.
“…a chance?”
He's aware that finding a cramped, closed off corner to stand in isn’t very befitting for his role as the nation’s ruler, but it could be worse.
He could be a dictator.
“…I’m a man now.” Oh, shut up. “I can take care of you…”
“That doesn’t matter… It’s been years… I like my life in the Royal Capital.”
“What life is that of an Advisor?” Ryuko’s voice grows tense, as does the Lord’s fist. “You can’t tell me there’s a future in that… that man is going to chew you up and spit you out once he's done with you.”
You stutter and then there’s silence. Having to listen to someone dwindle you down like that pulls at his chest.
“You think he won’t? I was here for an entire hour and witnessed the way he looks at you… he thinks he owns you.”
“…why do you keep bringing up the Fire Lord? You keep talking about me as if I’m his pet… this facility was all my idea.”
Correct.
“And who’s taking credit for it?”
God he fucking hates this guy.
“I don’t want credit. Look, I— they’re probably looking for me by now already… I’m sorry.”
“You’re here for a week— let me prove myself to you.”
“I don’t know how you’d be able to do that.”
“I’ll find a way.”
In those last few minutes Zuko stood there in silence, waiting until the coast was clear for him to leave, he couldn’t help but think about what your ex-fiancé had said to you.
That man is going to chew you up and spit you out once he's done with you.
You had no idea how to respond to such words.
Did they hurt you?
Did you believe them, even for just a single moment?
There was a selfish part of him that wanted to believe you were hurt, for no reason other than knowing it simply wasn’t true. You’re one of the most important people in the meeting room. You said it yourself, this was all your idea. You’re no pet.
Saying such things to a proud woman like yourself was unkind, at best. The fact that someone thought they could do so sickened him. If you can’t accept all that Zuko wants to give you, he can only hope you at least use him as an example for how you should be treated.
—
“Do you ever miss living here?”
You softly hum in thought. “Sometimes. It was fun.”
“And now your life’s so serious,” Cyra blows out a puff of smoke, a wooden tobacco pipe held loosely in her hand. “I must say, though— the Fire Lord is quite handsome.”
You try to hold it in, but you burst into a small fit of laughter. She had already asked about Ryuko— you both had joked over his sudden delusions of getting you back. Now it seems like she’s moving to the newest topic.
“What’s so funny about that?” She sits up, handing the tobacco pipe to you.
You hope no one’s around to smell it on you by the time you step back inside from the balcony.
The owner of the hotel has arranged for a night of entertainment, minus the services, knowing he was being accompanied by a concubine on the trip. Seeing your old friend walk in with the rest of the entertainers was a better surprise than seeing your ex-fiancé. You had mentioned your visit in the previous letter you’d written to her and bought herself out for tonight just so she could sit here with you.
“Do you not think he’s attractive?”
There’s still a smile on your face when you finally answer, “am I blind?”
“For a moment, you had me under the impression that you were,” she laughs, laying back on the day bed and looking up at the stars. “Now that I’m here, will you tell me more about his less diplomatic side, since you won’t write about it in the letters?”
She catches on fast. You hardly mention him at all out of fear that the letters get lost in transit.
“Like what?”
“Just… random, stupid stuff.”
“Well… he gets in these moods sometimes, and it’s as if he’s a broody teenage boy,” you stifle a laugh. “It’s hard to take it seriously when I’m having to watch everyone tiptoe around a manchild.”
You tend to look away during those moments, such as today, because he’ll just become angry. Today was by far your most successful day.
He’s been in a mood since you’ve yelled at him. While you feel bad for those suffering around him, like the Chancellor, it’s better off this way. You’ve never had to threaten a servant like that before. It was subtle, of course, but a threat is a threat. Hopefully you never have to do anything like that again.
You don’t tell Cyra any of those details, though. It was best if you kept quiet on the matter.
“So the Fire Lord is a spoiled brat?”
You tilt your head and think. “A brat, yes. But I wouldn’t say spoiled. He likes his showers cold and prefers street food. I’m sure he’ll sneak out of here one night with a cloak just to grab some skewers.”
“He sounds like your type.”
“Don’t be ridiculous.”
Cyra giggles and moves on, knowing you wouldn’t budge whether it was true or not. She looks back inside to take a peek at the Fire Lord. He looks bored and unimpressed with all the people surrounding him, even with the woman sitting by his side.
“Does he like his concubine?”
“He likes her enough,” you murmur tentatively. “That’s the one he frequents the most.”
“Is there any reason in particular?”
You all but shrug, knowing the thought of him waiting until he’s pent up and angry to visit his concubines is a thought she’d enjoy too much, being the crude woman she is. Instead you say something about Saiyo’s personality, rather than her… physical endurance, all while trying to move on to a new topic.
Everyone’s gone by the early morning. You didn’t notice how tired you were until you watched Cyra walk out of the lobby with a pair of heavy eyes.
You didn’t expect anyone to be awake by the time you got back up to the suite, but just as you begin to pour yourself a glass of water, you hear heavy footsteps.
Zuko almost stops once your eyes meet.
You’re guessing he’s here for the same reason you are. Given his high tolerance, he tends to drink the most during any occasion alcohol is served and you can imagine how parched one could get once the effects wear off.
You look away and continue to pour, thinking he’s too tired to offer more than the hum of acknowledgment he gave as he continued to walk closer, grabbing a glass for himself.
“Was that the friend you spoke of last night?”
The urge to let out a long sigh was one you had to fight. You were reluctant to answer him, he’s not supposed to speak to you with that much ease anymore.
“Yes. Were you interested in her services?”
He stopped and just blinked, looking at you in annoyance because you knew him better than that. “I was only curious about her because she’s friends with you.”
How aggressively wholesome of him.
“I see.”
“Yeah,” he says rather mockingly in return, giving you a taste of the treatment he’d been giving to everyone else as of late.
But then he rolls it back.
“If you want to spend a day or two with her this week, you could.”
“I don’t think that’d be necessary—“
He softly cuts you off. “It’s not, but it’s a chance to spend time with her before going back to the capital.”
You pick up the glass of water, thumb smoothing over the condensation as you take a moment to think about it. “What about the facility?”
“You’ve already done your part when you first suggested it.” There’s not much warmth in his tone. Had there been any, you probably would’ve thought he had an ulterior motive. “It’s just an offer.”
“Alright. I’ll guess I’ll take it then,” you avoid direct eye contact as you murmur. “Thank you.”
“Mhm.”
You miss the way his lips try to twitch into a smile, committed to keeping his composure despite the rush of tranquility you had just given him.
He still hasn’t bothered to remember your ex-fiancé’s name, but given his goal of winning your heart over in just a week's time, it’s safe to say he’s a man of persistence.
And so is Zuko, which is why he’s decided he is going to make that goal absolutely impossible to achieve.

Summary: the batfam (reluctantly) goes on vacation and dick stumbles across a fruit stand with a cute girl behind it
Warnings: whole lotta fluff, maybe some typos, probably ooc but we ball anyways
A/N: didn’t know how to end this and i wasn’t sure if i wanted to keep this going….but here we are
next part
Dick didn’t hate this vacation.
He outwardly admitted he needed some time to relax after brutal nights of fighting off thugs, robbers, and all things bad.
It was Bruce, Damian, and Jason who complained the entire time. Well, the loudest being Jason. Unlike Dick, he didn’t admit it out loud but he needed this as well.
They all did.
Which was why the batfam found themselves at a tropical island. Needing to relax their tense muscles.
Bruce booked the entire master suite of the hotel to themselves. The entire floor to be exact. They were a big family and needed the room.
No itinerary was necessary. They’d find a way to render themselves something to do.
Which also brought Dick, Jason, and Duke on the beach. Dick simply wanted to show off his surfing skills to the locals, and brought a brooding Jason along with him. Duke tagged along, knowing he’d venture off to the first thing that he found interesting.
The boys were walking along the empty streets of the island when Dick’s eyes landed on a stand with all kinds of hats.
“Of course.” Jason muttered under his breath when seeing Dick change course towards the hat stand.
“Does he know he looks like a tourist?”
“Do you know we are tourists?”
Duke gave a deadpanned expression. “You know what I meant.”
The two boys followed him and stopped behind him as he tried on every hat his head could fit. The man standing behind the stand, grinning at him like he’s won the lottery. Saying good things about every hat he tried on just so he could buy it.
“Does this one look better than the other one?” Dick turned around to his brothers. Wearing one sun hat and holding the other.
“They both look dumb.” Jason countered with a small smirk. He couldn’t help but find humor in this.
Dick shook off his words and turned towards Duke. “You’d tell me if one looks better than the other, right?”
Throwing him a bone, Duke nodded. “Of course. That one looks a little better.” He pointed to the one that looked worse.
It’s when Dick smiled and turned around, Jason let a laugh slip past his lips. Of course Duke picked the stupidest hat on Dick’s head.
“I’ll take this one—“ Dick was already pulling the money from the pocket of his swim shorts when a voice from the next stand stopped him.
“I wouldn’t.” You said, having been watching the entire encounter from your own stand.
Dick, Duke, and Jason all turned their heads to face you. You rested your fist under your chin, watching them all. “That hat screams ‘I’m a tourist, feel free to rob me’. So I wouldn’t.”
Dick took the hat off his head and Jason internally cursed you. Because how dare you take that entertainment away from him?
He inspected the hat and figured you were right. He almost fell right into that tourist trap.
And he was about to fall into another.
Yours.
With that, he was waving off Jason and Duke and striding towards your cart. You watched him with a smirk and a raised brow.
“You brought me out here, asshole.”
“Come on, we’ll find something else to do.” Duke was already pulling Jason away from you and Dick.
“Those your brothers?” You nodded your head towards the two walking away.
“Don’t worry about them,” he leaned on his elbows and stared you down. “I’d say we worry about us.”
“Us?” Your brows rose again. You couldn’t help but let a laugh slip through. “What does that mean?”
“It can mean whatever you want it to mean.” He gave you that panty dropping smile that matched with his pretty boy charm.
You looked him up and down with a grin. You knew he was trouble with that look. But why not entertain him for the time being? Why not entertain yourself?
Dick reached for your hand, his rough palm in yours caused you to jolt just a little. “I never got your name.”
“I never gave you my name.” You eyed him.
“Would you mind sharing it?” You didn’t stop when his mouth hovered over the back of your hand.
You told him your name and he kissed your hand. You could feel the grin on his lips. That brought a smile to your lips because a cute (criminally pretty) guy is taking interest in you.
“A pretty name for a pretty girl like you.” You felt your face get hot and your underwear get damp. He knew how his words affected you.
Like hello?!
You giggled despite yourself. Yes, you were felling for his trap. But this was summer, you were allowed to have some summer fun. And summer flings.
“I didn’t get your name.” You finally regained your composure.
“Dick Grayson.” He answered quite confidently.
“Yikes,” you winced, slowly pulling your hand from his. His grip instinctively tightened but loosened almost immediately. “School must have been tough.”
“You flirting with me?” His eyes narrowed at you playfully.
You laughed and shook your head. You had finally remembered that you were working. “Would you like to buy some fruit, Grayson?”
“That depends,” he rubbed at his chin, pretending to think. “Let’s say I do buy some fruit from you…would you be open to spending the day with me tomorrow?”
You also pretended to think, you couldn’t hide your amusement even if you wanted to. “That also depends…would you let me pick the fruit?”
He laughed, loudly. “I’d buy a leaf from you.”
You bit your lip. “Then I’d love to spend the day with you tomorrow.”
This was simply a hangout with a cute guy. No strings attached, none at all.
