“I remember this movie being such a huge viral sensation. I had to watch it to find out what all the fuss was about. And I really enjoyed it. Well perhaps enjoyed isn’t the right word but I thought it was a very good film. Incredibly suspenseful and emotional. I know not everyone likes Sandra Bullock but I do and I thought she gave a great performance. Being a mum, movies like this absolutely scare the shit out of me, not gonna lie, I could really relate to Bullock’s character in a lot of ways. I can see why the film divided people...a lot of viewers wanted to know what the so-called thing was you saw that made you want to end your own life. But I don’t think that mattered at all, I love how it’s open to interpretation, adds to the mystery. It’s definitely worth a watch.”

“I think Madeline Brewer is a phenomenal actress and completely underrated. Her performance in this movie is nothing short of brilliant. You could tell that she loved working on this film. And the story was very refreshing, very Black Mirror-esque which I am OBSESSED with so it was always going to be a winner with me! It so weird and unsettling and by the end even I didn’t know what was going to happen or how to feel about it! A very surreal and unique film. It’s on Netflix, go watch it now. You won’t regret it.”

“I’m gonna be honest with you, it was a while ago that I watched this movie and so I can’t really remember it all that much (I suppose that says it all!). But I do enjoy a good Saw movie, no matter how ridiculous the story is now getting. I recall it being entertaining enough I suppose, just not a stand out installment.”

“I absolutely loved this. The thing that first struck me actually was the totally killer 80′s soundtrack. It was frightening but it had comedy, it had drama (not the soundtrack, the film!). It’s obviously a classic Stephen King story so no complaints on the plot front whatsoever. The casting was briliant as was the acting. Bill Skarsgard’s Pennywise is horrifying, truly. It was perhaps a little long for a horror movie but I was gripped the whole time so I can’t complain too much. I’m very much looking forward to watching the second one.”

“Being a Tim Burton fan, I knew this would be good. It isn’t his best work by far but in this live action remake of the Disney classic he really captures the spirit of the original. It had a bit of everything, including some very emotional moments. The costumes and sets are stunning as per usual and the casting, although consisting mostly of Burton’s lifelong pals, really does work. I’ve not seen all of the live action Disney remakes but I really enjoyed this version of Dumbo along with the recent Beauty and the Beast.”

“Absolutely awful and absolutely pointless. Diabolically bad. A complete waste of an hour and forty minutes of my life. I could feel myself losing the will to live whilst watching it but was also hanging on to the hope that something good might happen. It didn’t. Apart from Gina Phillip’s cameo at the end. That gave me a little glimmer of hope for another sequel. The proper sequel I’ve been waiting for, not this half-arsed bull-crap. I couldn’t even place when this installment was occuring until I googled it. I was so perplexed. Apparently it’s what happens BETWEEN the first and the second film. Fuck knows why, what was the point? We didn’t even find out anything more about the Creeper. “He’s ancient”...well, no shit. It was quite cool to learn a bit more about the BEATNGU truck but that’s as far as it goes. I absolutely adore the original film, it has a creepy af atmosphere and is actually quite terrifying but this..this is just hilarious if anything. Maybe that’s the tone Salva was going for, but I was not into it one iota. It just made me cringe so hard.”

“Definitely one of the better horror films in recent years. It is very metaphor heavy but that is part of what makes it so engrossing and relatable. Whilst watching it I immediately drew comparisons to the savage coming of age movie Ginger Snaps. It has that difficulty of growing up a teenage girl and the volatile relationship of sisters. Both of which I can relate to! And then you have the cannibalism which to me seems to be symbolic of sexual appetite, and a very erotic yet disturbing one at that. A very clever and thought-provoking piece of film-making.”

“Definitely one of the best modern horror movies in a good few years. It’s very smart, terrifying, thought-provoking and self-aware. The writing is super relevant, dark and original, it’s not too dissimilar to a Black Mirror episode. The acting is great, the score is creepy as hell and it had a good pace. It was also very funny, it was as if Chris had seen a lot of horror movies and so knew what had to go down for him to survive. I even wondered that he might break the fourth wall at some point like in Funny Games. Definitely worth a watch, even for those weird people that don’t like horror films.”

“I was really excited about this movie, mainly because it’s a spy film with a female lead which is a bit of a rarity. Then I find out that it’s also based on a graphic novel and is set in Berlin in the late 80s. Absolute match made in heaven. Visually and audibly this movie is near perfect. It’s beautifully shot and the soundtrack is spot on. Although there maybe could have been a bit more German synth-wave thrown in there for good measure. I loved the cold, dark, gloomy, neon-drenched atmosphere that was created. The costumes and sets were magnificent. But then there was the story.. It wasn’t a bad story at all, it was just confusing and when I don’t know whats going on I get bored. Having said that though, Charlize Theron and James McAvoy were great in it and the fight scenes were awesome and fantastically choreographed. It’s a very well made film and I take my hat off to David Leitch, I just couldn’t personally get into the story. Maybe I need to watch it again.”

“I did wonder how they would go about doing a sequel to (IMO) one of the best found footage horror movies ever. There was no way it could have been a carbon copy, that would have been completely pointless and a huge waste of time so I’m glad they upped their game. Mark Duplass is what makes these movies. He’s such a good actor and the story/character is so unpredictable, you never know whats waiting around the corner. It’s satirical, it’s scary, it’s nail-biting stuff! However, it was a bit dull and irritating in places. I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with in the third installment. I’m hoping for the tables to be turned, for the serial killer to meet his match!”

“Not bad for a directorial debut. I loved the atmosphere that was created. It very much reminded me of Ex Machina although it was not as good. It had a great cast. Anya Taylor-Joy is a brilliant up and coming actress. The story was pretty average, it had good and bad parts. I kinda saw the “twist” coming. It’s an easy watch if you’re looking for some mild entertainment but it’s not particularly memorable.”

“Everything about this film is pretty near perfect. It’s beautifully shot, the costumes are gorgeous, the music is so uplifting and wonderful, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are a stunning combination and their acting is superb. The characters they play are so relatable, particularly Gosling’s character for me personally. Everything is so bright and colourful and full of life. It really is a feast for the eyes and ears. It’s modern but retro, it’s just lovely really. Only one drawback..too long. Some scenes could have been cut down or cut out completely. It didn’t have to be two hours long. Well worthy of it’s Academy awards though. It’s a must-see, especially if you’re feeling a little blue.”

“I’m not sure how much of this movie is actually conceivable but who cares, it was entertaining enough. The characters were likeable and relatable, the story had a good moral to it and the special effects were just stunning. It’s definitely worth a watch. Kind of the perfect date night movie actually. Romance for the lady, space stuff for the man! Win win.”

“On paper, this film is right up my street. A sort of post-apocalyptic horror/thriller with a female lead. But I was a bit disappointed to be honest. It started off great and I had high hopes but then it lost momentum and became very slow and a bit dull. The cast was great, I loved the characters and it was very beautifully shot but the story was just not strong enough. I couldn’t help but think of it as a bit of a Mad Max Fury Road rip off.”

“My twitter feed had lots of people recommending this film that was recently added to Netflix so I had to check it out. It’s Stephen King too so I had high hopes and I wasn’t disappointed. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie! It was so suspenseful and gripping. Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood were brilliant and it was so nostalgic to see Henry Thomas (Elliott in E.T.) and Carel Struycken (Lurch in the Addams Family) making appearances! The story was very deep and psychological which is just my cup of tea. If you love Stephen King and/or suspenseful horror/thrillers then this is definitely for you! Highly recommended.”

“I’d read such good things about this movie but was sorely disappointed. Okay, it had a few good jump scares and racked up the tension but I don’t think it brought anything new to the home invasion genre. Funny Games came before it and is better and You’re Next and Hush came after which I also prefer as the victims really tried to fight back. The couple in this seemed far to placid, I didn’t particularly care if they lived or died. The whole mask thing isn’t new, although they did look kind of creepy. All in all a bit of a let down really.”

“Dumb and Dumberer definitely is...well...dumb. As a prequel it just didn’t work. Probably because no one from the original film had anything to do with it. I thought the two actors that portrayed Harry and Lloyd did a good job at acting like the original characters but everything else fell very flat. It wasn’t funny at all...unless maybe if you’re 12. The story was lame. Even if it had been some sort of stand alone movie, the story would still suck. I think one of the only good things was the soundtrack to be honest! And even then, it didn’t really capture the 80′s era that it was supposed to. None of the film did. I threw this on just for some easy-watching. Don’t even do that. Seriously. Waste. Of. Time.”
