Our sexuality is not only for desiring sex with another, but also to lust after and desire what our soul loves. The topic of sex is deeply linked to love, to creation and to life, literally and archetypally. Therefore, our desire for sex can also be our desire for that which gives us life!
Feel and recall what its like to feel lustful, desirous, perverted. How overpowering that can be! Similarly, we should be hopeless perverts for what makes our souls sing, having the courage and vulnerability to admit and pursue what it is we desire. Just as we would expose ourselves to a lover and have sweet, tender, vulnerable moments with them, so too should we be so hopelessly desiring life, beauty, connection, spirituality, or whatever it may be.
Sexuality is that driving force that pushes us into action, sometimes with reckless abandon in pursuit of what we desire. It forces us to overcome our insecurities and hesitancies and provokes us into action. It is such a strong, life giving desire that has been shamed and reduced by the dominant culture, the cult of death.
Can we be so hopelessly perverted in our pursuit for what gives us life and what makes us feel alive, fully human? Can we celebrate sexuality between people as an act of love and also expand the force of sexuality beyond and into creating, worshipping, and honoring life?
